So I think I found the cause of the random crashes that times everyone out. I've taken measures to fix it and believe that it is now permanently resolved.

Please post here if it's not.

Actually, all servers I've got listed are down right now as 'Outdated Server'.

Did you make sure you're in 1.6.2?
If you're using a 1.5.something or a snapshot 1.7, you obviously won't be able to enter.
The server will probably stay 1.6.2 for a while now.

I've been running 1.6.2 since the server updated (was on last night actually).

Ah, I see the problem. Minecraft updated to 1.6.4!!! This morning.
