    Cataclysm: Touhou

This is some kind of thing in which I make up a random story based on things happening in this rogue-like zombie apocalypse survival game called Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. Don't ask why, I was bored or something. This will be a bit gory so I guess read at your own risk.

    Characters:
    Youmu Konpaku

    Day One:
Youmu awoke to find herself in the middle of an empty field, lying flat on her back and staring up at the sky. She yawned, a bit drowsy from waking up. After a few seconds of blankly staring into the distance, she came to realize that she wasn't in any place remotely like the Gensokyo she once knew. She immediately jumped to her feet and groped at her belt only to find that her katana were missing. Panicking, she looked around her, wary of any danger. Seeing nothing but a vast field of grass and strangely large flowers, she relaxed a bit. Then she realized that her mistress, Yuyuko, was nowhere to be found. She may be in this strange world as well! Youmu took off sprinting eastward, where she found a building at the end of a road. She burst through the door, calling for her mistress. Alas, the only response she got was silence and the slight buzz of a strange glowing device on the west side of the building.
Youmu tentatively walked toward the odd contraption, unsure of it's hostility. Youmu cautiously extended a finger to touch it only to find that there appeared to be a glass panel between her and the words. She remembered seeing some kind of similar glass-faced thing back in Gensokyo during a trip with her mistress to Kourindou.
"It's a device from the outside world called a television. It seems to be able to display images on its face to provide entertainment to people, but I unfortunately can't seem to get it to work." Youmu remembered Rinnosuke explain upon her asking.
Youmu then decided that she somehow got to the outside world. Something seemed off though, weren't there supposed to be more people in the outside world? She hadn't seen one since she'd woken up. Youmu looked up to see the screen displaying words.

    Logging into Evac shelter computer...
    Login successful. Press any key...

Youmu stared blankly at the screen, unsure of what it said. She could only assume that the part to press a key meant to press something on the board with small buttons labeled with letters of the alphabet. She pressed the key labeled "Y".

Evac shelter computer - Root Menu
    1 - Emergency Message
Q - Quit and shut down

Again, she didn't understand what it meant. The emergency message should give some insight as to what is going on. She depressed the key labeled "1".

GREETINGS CITIZEN. A BIOLOGICAL ATTACK HAS TAKEN PLACE AND A STATE OF EMERGENCY HAS BEEN DECLARED. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WILL BE AIDING YOU SHORTLY. TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS.

    1. DO NOT PANIC.
    2. REMAIN INSIDE THE BUILDING.
    3. SEEK SHELTER IN THE BASEMENT.
    4. USE PROVIDED GAS MASKS.
    5. AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS.

    Press any key to continue...

She stared at the instructions, absorbing the information. She didn't have time to wait for someone to help her, she had to find Yuyuko before she gets herself into trouble. Noticing the steps going down in the center of the building, she looked back to the computer for more information. She pressed the key labeled "U".

Evac shelter computer - Root Menu
    1 - Emergency Message
Q - Quit and shut down

It seems that the screen returned to the previous set of words. She pressed the key labeled "Q" since quitting and shutting down seemed to be an important thing to do, otherwise the option wouldn't need to be there. Wandering into the basement, she found that it was completely dark and that she couldn't see a thing, she decided that it would be better to not wander into a dark room with possible hidden hazards.

Exiting the building, Youmu shielded her eyes from the afternoon sun's brightness. She began walking down the large concrete road in hopes of finding anything. After a few hours, she found what seemed to be a humanoid figure down the road. She called out to it, in hopes of making peace with another human. She immediately knew that something was wrong when it turned to meet her gaze. It's face seemed to be rotting and a sickly green color, its left arm twisted at an odd angle, and its eyes filled with bloodlust. Youmu felt that it didn't want to make peace, more the opposite. She put herself into a fighting stance as it began a crooked run toward her. She landed a few swift punches on it as it approached, ducking when an arm swing at her. Youmu hit it with a powerful punch, suddenly, it grabbed her arm and bit it. Youmu screamed out in pain as a small piece of flesh was ripped from her arm. She kicked it back and ran to the east, she was faster than it but the terrible pain in her arm caused her to slow somewhat.

She ran until she came across a corpse lying face down in the dirt, unmoving with a ripped backpack on the side. She opened the backpack to find a box with a red plus sign on it. Eirin had told her once that the outside world used a sign to signify some kind of medical help. She pried open the box to find a roll of bandages and a bottle of disinfectant. She poured the disinfectant on her wound, whimpering as it cleaned the cut, and wrapped it with the bandages. Searching through the backpack, she found a plastic bottle of water, an orange, and a torn shirt. She placed them back into the backpack along with the medical box and began walking when her toe kicked something. Bending down to closely inspect the dirt, she uncovered some kind of sword, presumably dropped by the same person the backpack came from. She picked it up, it felt a little off balance, but it worked well enough.

She heard a deep throated groan from behind her, she same zombie from before. This time, she was ready for it. It charged her, swinging its arms at her face. Youmu ducked and sliced it in half with two fluid cuts. The grotesque being fell to the ground behind her, its movements stopping. Youmu sighed and cleaned the blade with the torn shirt from the backpack. She continued down the road.

She approached a massive building, with the top very high up. She walked into the eerily quiet block of pavement in front of the building. The air began to fill with the sounds of glass shattering as the creatures poured out of the building from the windows. One by one, Youmu dispatched the approaching group until only a few remained. Just as she was about to finish one off, she heard a spitting noise and turned to see a green glowing blob fly at her. She quickly jumped out of the way as it splattered on the ground, bubbling dangerously. A little splashed on her leg, stinging a bit as the acidic substance burnt away at her leg. She immediately wiped it off with a nearby shirt. Youmu stepped back from the puddle, keeping an eye on the approaching enemies. Without warning she heard a loud roar from her side and turned just in time to get slammed in the stomach by a massive fist. She came to a painful stop on the side of a car, blacking out momentarily from the pain. The giant zombie stomped over to her and roared again. Youmu attempted to run, but the searing pain stopped her from moving much. She reached for her sword, which she found was dissolving in the puddle of acid. The brute pulled back its gigantic hands to smash her. She blacked out from the pain as she attempted to get away.
