Its there to make you wonder what he's thinking about. It shows him thinking so deeply, it takes away one of his simplest powers of holding his hammer.
Seriously, imo it would be boring to have to have every last detail spoon fed and explained in a movie.

Some advice on video editing: There are NO good free video editors. You're going to have to pay money.

Well, there is Lightworks, but you can't render in too good of a quality with the free one. Other than that, I've heard it's pretty good
