"Learn from a Johny? Good luck with that, all of them are just the worst to be around. But getting help from a Daemon? That's an interesting thought. The goal's Deus, but if we find someone else before that, all yours."

Valerie looked into the distance. She could see the library coming into view. "Why do you keep referring to this guy as 'Deus' and not 'a deus'.

"Oops, I forgot to mention that Joel said the guy's name was 'The Deus'." Anthony told his sister. "I bet he can fly and teleport and shoot lase-"

"Tony, could you not say things like that right now?" Valerie interrupted. "Though he could probably fly. I can make these chains, so there shouldn't be anything stopping him from growing wings. Say, you two have any clue of what he can actually do?"

"What can Deus do you say? He's a god. He can do whatever he wants. In this world, imagination is rule and Deus is one of the few with control over it." Joel pushed his way through the old library's doors, nodding to the man at the counter as he walked past. He led the group to a bookshelf in the far back of the library and began reading the covers of the books.

"I can understand how to create objects and what not, but how is imagining up living beings, with personalities and feelings possible?" Valerie questioned.

Joel stopped in his search of a book just to lean on the shelf for a second, sighing at the question.

"The same as creating characters in a book. You just imagine them and they appear, those are what we call Figments. As I stated before, I am a Figment, I am Joel's creation." Avi said with a quiet voice.

Pio's Apothecary and Clinic | Scrapyard District | 8:43 AM

Pio said nothing as she took in what Yosho said. Looking for him? Talk about violating her? Even in a dumpster of a place like Scrapyard District, such event where someone tries to rape Pio does not happen often in fear of retaliation from every other bandit clans in this district. Who could those men be, and where did they come from?

"Then I suppose I owe you a debt..." Pio fidgeted, still a bit uneasy about the dead men she saw. "Are you feeling... alright?"

"So um, how did you end up in Fantasia, Joel?" Valerie asked after a period of silence.

"Then I suppose I owe you a debt..." She fidgeted a bit, before continuing. "Are you feeling... alright?"

Yosho noded, "Yeah, I'm fine." Although some less-than-careful observation would reveal the boy's bandages were bleeding through. Yosho didn't seem bothered but the fact, or even notice as he began to turn back to what he was doing. He already have a fair bit of blood on his tunic, so it was likely the blood he did see he had assumed wasn't his own.

"Is there a rag or something? I had to use that guy's tunic." Yosho motioned to one of them who seemed like their shirt may have been longer at one point, seeing as how the edges of it were torn and frayed.
I gazed up at the sable-haired maiden with eyes so full of warmth it appeared she was crying silently. My trecherous mouth opened, "Why do you look so troubled, Princess?"

Slowly, she moved her eyes from the moon to me. She studied my imperfections before her for what seemed to be a blissful eternity before gracing me with her voice, "I've slain this land's only prince. What use, now, is a princess?"

As the maiden left my presence, so too did my heart.

This time, Joel completely stopped searching through the books and stood still for a minute. "We... don't like talking about the outside world." He thought of the times when his sister and mother visited him in the hospital. Somehow, those happy memories became painful to remember. "If you really must know, we - or rather I - jumped off the roof of a hospital."

He tried to occupy himself with finding the book, but his concentration was too broken to even read the covers. With a sigh he waved Avi over to continue the search while he walked himself over to a window and stared out of it at the mostly abandoned street.

After more than 15 minutes of walking, Deus and Dahlia turned a corner to see the very clear border between the residential district and the Scrapyard District. One would likely wonder why they'd be so close, but Dahlia decided not to pursue such a mystery. The world around her was confusing enough as it was.

"There it is, Dahlia. The Scrapyard district. Want a weapon, before we go in?" Deus asked.

"Uh... yeah... sure... some sort of gun, I guess?"

As soon as Dahlia spoke her wish, an older weapon, an M1911, appeared in her hands. It felt rather hefty and unwieldy, but that could be attributed to Dahlia having never used a firearm before. She figured it couldn't be too hard to figure out though.

"How's that?" Deus asked, refraining from creating his own weapon.

"It works... aren't you gonna make your own weapon?"

"Nope. Not yet. Gonna wait until we're actually attacked. If they don't know who they're dealing with, they might leave us be."

Deus's logic was sound enough to Dahlia. She hoped he was right. The two made their ways into the Scrapyard district with caution.

"Ah, yes! I do!" Pio nodded when Yosho asked for proper bandages as she showed him an entire roll of fresh bandages she bought from the general goods store. For a proper hospital it wouldn't mean much, but for Pio, a single roll of fresh bandages meant the difference between a patient living to see another day and a patient dead because of possible contamination.

"Here, have a seat and I'll reapply the bandages for you." Pio offered a wooden chair in its' disrepair for her patient to sit on while she walked into what was presumably the bathroom... or what passes for one. "I'll need to quickly wash my hands. Wouldn't want any germs to get into those wounds now do we? Hehehe..."

"Ah! Yes I do!" The girl seemed to perk up. She moved a bit before grabbing a worse-for-wear chair and setting it up, "Here, have a seat and I'll reapply the bandages for you."

Huh? Yosho was about to say before the girl cut him off with her sterling personality. Yosho couldn't bring himself to speak while she was. For just a moment he felt his throat choke up and demand he listen to her words instead of protest what he had found awkward before.

"I'll need to quickly wash my hands. Wouldn't want any germs to get into those wounds now do we? Hehehe..." The girl left to a side room, perhaps it was another room for patients? Yosho didn't recognize its purpose. He could tell where important things, such as an eating space, and a living space were, but a good portion of the home was alien to him. Come to think of it, most of what the home was made out of seemed awkward as well. When was wood so smooth? Where were the nails? Yosho's eyes began to dart about and find each inconsistency with this world's home, and his own world's homes. His eyes were like lightning, taking in everything they could before Pio could get too far from her original location.

                            Reapply bandages?

"N-no. I'm fi-." Wait.... Yosho looked down at his chest. He had been shot with one of those things, after all. It certainly wouldn't be the first time he would have completely forgotten about an injury, either. Sure enough, the bandages were bleeding through. Oops. "Oh..." He exclaimed.

With a sigh of disappointment in himself, Yosho rose to his feet and went over to the chair and had a seat as instructed. The girl didn't seem very shocked by the bodies. Judging by the condition of the home, it was likely she lived in a less than favorable location. If that were the case, she was probably also used to death.
I gazed up at the sable-haired maiden with eyes so full of warmth it appeared she was crying silently. My trecherous mouth opened, "Why do you look so troubled, Princess?"

Valerie took Anthony to the staircase and turned to face Avi. "Hey, I'm sorry for being meddlesome, I didn't know it was like that... We'll be in one of the rooms upstairs, I needed to talk to Anthony about something anyways. Just...call us down when you're ready." Valerie continued up the stairs and beckoned Anthony to follow. He quickly did so as they headed into their room.

Joel nodded absently while leaning on the window. It reminded him of his time back in the hospital, but he felt too weak to change his position.

Once the siblings were a decent distance a way, Avi spoke up. "Is that why you like Magpie so much? Because she reminds you of your sister?"

Joel shifted his view to a corner of the glass where he saw Avi in the reflection, her back turned to Joel and still looking through the books. "Maybe, I don't know. I guess she does look like Miu in a way." Joel paused and turned his attention back to the abandoned street. Without thinking, he let a thought slip through his lips. "I want to see them again."

Avi reshelved the book she was holding and sighed. "I know you do, but there's no way back. The only thing you can do is forget your past and enjoy the new life this world has given you. Alright, Joel?"

                                "I'll try."
