    [OOC]What if the Sun Disappeared?

No one could've predicted it. The probability was too slim for such an event to occur. But it did, anyway. The Sun; the star that gave Earth its warmth and support; vanished in an instance, leaving mass hysteria and panic across the globe. Within a week, the average temperature of Earth was at the freezing point. Anarchy filled civilizations as desperate people moved to geothermal areas, like Yellowstone or Iceland, or entered an underground communities powered by nuclear generators. I too was one of those fortunate enough to extend my lifespan by several years. Those less fortunate either starved to death or froze to death in the coldness as temperature dipped to negative 73 celsius by the first year of no sun.

Those that survived created nations based on the geothermal locations. In these bastions of warmth, humanity lasted for several decades, safe from the demise of Earth. However, humans were still not safe; this time from each other. Corruption and greed befell the inhabitants, and soon violence swept across the newly developed nations. It was a living hell as the authority enacted unfair doctrines, and threatened to uproot anyone that disagreed to the policies, evicting them out into the wilderness where everything has frozen over. Eventually the nations collapsed in a sea of blood.

I plead to any intelligent beings who has gotten ahold of this diary. Do not make the same mistake we have made. Do not collapse under the filth of greed and vile thoughts. Learn to act with peace, not violence. Do this, a request from the last living human on planet Earth.

    And the page stopped there.

Sephiroth sighed heavily as she stood back up from crouching. This diary; founded in a small cavern next to an empty ruin; contained pieces of the origins of this planet that she is from. Now, her suspicions about previous civilizations existing on this planet was justified as truth. But what happened after this planet froze over? Did the Sun come back magically? Is something else heating this planet up? What happened?

Stepping outside, Sephiroth covered her eyes and looked up into the bright sky. The Sun… no, that can't be right. The diary stated this planet had only one Sun, but previous observations have pointed towards two Suns, one smaller than the other, providing warmth down to the ground. They both traveled the skies together until they declined, in which case the world became very dark only to be dispelled by the twin Suns that returned. How was this so?

Her eyes shifted from the skies back down to the land as she pocketed the small diary into her pockets. With a newfound perspective of observation, Sephiroth realized just how new this world is, and how there are so much discoveries to be made: about where she, and other explorers on this world are made, about the lifestyles of those that came before them, and the entire history of the unfortunate race called humans that perished on the planet she walks today. With refreshed purpose, she marched onward, seeking for more adventures and discoveries.

    Introduction

“What if the Sun Disappeared” is an open-world exploration RP inspired by a Vsauce video of the same name and my lifelong curiosities about space and discovering new things. Just as the theme suggests, this RP has no driven plot by the GM; the players can create one themselves. It also heavily emphasizes of exploration and adventures, leaving most of the world settings to the players and how they view the world.

    The History

On the year 2019, Sun has suddenly vanished, sending Earth and other orbiting celestial bodies flying off into space one after another, tangent to where they were in their orbit. Mass panicking and anarchy overruled the Earth as humans desperately sought out solutions, and eventually only 0.05% of the population made it to geothermal locations such as Yellowstone or to underground bunkers heated and self-sustained to a level by nuclear reactors. The rest of the population, and majority of animals, plants, and insects perished in the intense cold as the temperature dipped exponentially.

The nations that formed around these warm shelters prospered for several decades. However, starting from the 2070s, the greed and evil thoughts within human mind took over. They lied, deceived, and cheated each other to grab an advantage such as wealth and power even in such bleak conditions. By the late 2080s, most of the nations have collapsed under constant rebellion and rampaging crime, and on the year 2092, the last human on Earth, Professor Lawrence Caulfield, died.

The Earth flew across the Milky Way Galaxy for approximately 20 million years, covering 2000 light years until the planet fell into orbit on a star of similar size to the Sun. Over the course of millions of years, the Earth thawed out, and the extremophiles that lived in the deepest trenches of ocean began to proliferate life all over again. Plants and animals of species never before seen grew and thrived in the excess oxygen that the melting of ice brought to the atmosphere, and before long the planet began hosting intelligent life that spawned from its primitive predecessors.

You are one of those intelligent life that has emerged into this planet, unknowing yet of the shadows of the previous world. You do notice, however, myriads of remnants and ruins of a civilization. Curiosity and wanderlust fills you. Where will you explore first? What will you find there? What will you discover? And most importantly… how will you utilize what you have found?

    The World

Earth now is mostly uninhabited, with mostly flora and wildlife that has grown and evolved separately. What is left of the previous civilization could either be well-preserved, in slight disrepair, noticeably damaged, or utterly devastated.

Additional locations are at place that are not really in the world today are:
    • Yellowstone Biosphere - Home of the Yellowstone Unified Nation, this colony was home of the biggest nation after the Sun disappeared. It is mostly preserved thanks to the warmth emanating from the Yellowstone supervolcano, which miraculously had not seen any volcanic activities during Earth’s cryosleep.
    • Islandic Biosphere - A smaller biosphere located in the Haukadalur valleys. Lasted for 20 years or so before the artificial atmosphere failed, devastating the facility in fierce coldness.
    • Beppu International Geothermal Zone - A biosphere located in the hot springs-filled Beppu region. The hot springs made it one of the more popular biosphere nations, until a wave of insanity caused the country to collapse on itself as panicking citizens literally committed mass suicide.

Majority of cities may have survived through the millions of years in dormancy, preserved by miles of oxygen ice above them. Because of this, they may serve as excellent spots where your species or entity could call home, gathering information about anything and everything about the assumed previous era.

    The Explorer

You are to create a species of considerable intelligence and/or an entity you control. Because Earth is now a clean sheet, you may create really anything you’d like and chalk it up as evolution. The main entity (or entities, if you want more than 1) will be your character as he/she/it walks across the vast Earth and find various remnants of civilization: our civilization. What they will find is up to you; this is a completely open-world RP where you as a player create parts of the world.

If you desire, you can also be of an alien race that seeks out the planet to conquer it, exploit it, or simply venture it in curiosity. Of course, once again you will have to create your own race and an entity (or multiple entities) to control.

There are several criteria that your species or at least your entity must reach. These criteria are put so that your species/entity can create a civilization or at least comprehend some amount of what they find in the ruin.
    • Your species/entity must be able to read, speak, and understand speech.
    • Your species/entity must be eager to learn, explore, and discover.
    • Your species/entity must have some sort of cognitive processing.
    • Your species/entity CANNOT BE HUMAN. THEY'RE EXTINCT.

Other than the criteria listed above, your species and/or entities must follow these templates respectively

    Spoiler: Species Template

    Name of Species:

Physical Description: (You can have textual description or have an image)

    History:

    Spoiler: Entity Template

Name: Literally what the entity decided to call itself.

Age: How long has the entity been on this world? Based on the species you have given for the entity, the age can differ.

Gender, if applicable: If your species are mono-gender, this doesn't really apply.

    Species: Literally your species.

Physical Appearance: Image will do. If not, textual description.

Behavior and/or Personality: If your species have cognition and sentience, it should have personality.

Traits and Flaws: What is your species/entity good at? What are its' worse traits?

History: How did your entity come to on this world?

Goals: What is your entity's purpose on this world?

    Other Notes: Blah.

    Rules:

    1. Refer to the Universal RP Rules, except one change to rule 6:
    • You can choose to have the RP be all about yourself, as it is open world to a degree. Your entity is exploring the world as well as others; although you can choose to describe how the local area looks. You can choose to have story arcs rolling.

    2. This RP is mostly for exploration and discovery to satisfy the curiosity of how another intelligent being will see the remnants of our civilization in the distant future. Violence and action is permitted, but please try to refrain any action that may jeopardize the planet.

This actually sounds interesting. Now to use my brain and come up with something for this.
"No matter how strong or what power the enemy has, I will fight and protect my friends, even if it cost me my life to protect them. I will fight until I die to ensure their future."

      Spoiler: Dryad

      Name of Species: Dryad

Physical Description: The Dryad are trees with some sort of locomotive limbs developed from the roots. Depending on their gender, their appearance dynamically changes. For Dryads with male parts or for Dryads that are monoecious, (containing both male and female parts) the limbs are similar to the roots that are exposed on the ground, allowing it to move almost like a spider. For Dryads with female parts, the roots gather and form into what look similar to legs.

History: With the increasing Oxygen level on Earth, trees and plant life flourished, turning 80% of the world as something akin to super-dense rainforest. Of course, with this came forth the evolution of giant but slow herbivore creatures that munched away at the forest with alarming pace. Thus, over millions of years, certain species of trees evolved, turning their roots into a locomotive parts that allowed them to outpace the herbivore creatures and reproduce where they are not around.
