Hoenn Region - Route 116 Of course, there was a downside to fighting something fat or heavy. Getting underneath them was a very bad idea, and to Mac's dismay, the heavier Makuhita had the advantage when on top. The smaller pokemon grunted in pain when his opponent tackled him down to the pavement, and rolling around with it only served to add a few scrapes to his physique. Child's play, really, but getting squashed wasn't anything to put off lightly.
Sherry had heard about levels coming into play in some pokemon battles, but she didn't believe they were set. Most likely they were rough estimates of how strong the pokemon was. She wondered what her pokemon's level was, but if she did know, she wouldn't be discouraged. Skill could turn the tables in any battle, even against a superior opponent.
"Mac!" Sherry turned her attention back to the fight at hand and stopped herself from interfering. "He's a heavy target! If you try to match his strength, you'll get trumped! Manipulate him, try to use his weight against him!"
If that didn't work, then taunting the opponent to enrage them could do the trick. An angry opponent made more mistakes than a calm one. Mac struggled underneath the Makuhita and brought up his arms to protect his face. He didn't have the opening he needed in order to follow Sherry's advice. As for the trainer herself, she glared back at the crook and advanced on him again.
"Call off the fight and give the data back," she yipped. "Or I'll have to use force."
Hoenn Region - Route 116 "Never!" The punk barked in reply. "This data is important for furthering our grand plan! No trainer nor her Pokemon is going to stop us! Makuhita, Arm Thrust!"
Makuhita guffawed as he brought down his arms down at the Machop. The arm thrust itself wasn't damaging, but multiple succession wore Machop out.
Hoenn Region - Route 116 "Grand plan?" Sherry repeated. She hoped there wasn't some kind of pseudo Neo-Umbrella lurking about. "Great..."
In the corner of her eye, she could see her pokemon receive a swift pummeling. It tore at her heart to see that, so she shouted out an order when she noticed the heavier Makuhita was using its upper body more than its lower. There! Focusing on the upper body revealed the Makuhita's weakness, or at least, a window of opportunity for the Machop. Mac heard the order from his trainer and grunted, feeling pain stinging at his arms.
Whether a result of positioning or exploiting the Makuhita's overconfidence, the Machop managed to roll his opponent off of him with a well-placed knee to the stomach. He staggered to his feet, weakened but still standing. If could still stand, he could still fight. Focusing on the advice Sherry gave him previously, the Machop reached for one of the Makuhita's wrists and pulled it with him as he scampered past it, twisting the fat pokemon somewhat. Then, while it was a little disoriented, Mac pulled the Makuhita towards him and kicked its legs out from underneath it, sending it face-first to the road. The Machop huffed and raised up its fists once again, prepared to fight back on equal footing.
"Give me that data!" Sherry barked as she got within arm's length of the punk. She reached out to take his wrist in a vicegrip, her blue eyes narrowed in hostility.
Hoenn Region - Route 116 Not realizing that his weakness was exploited, the Makuhita toppled over and landed on the grassy ground. He wobbled as he got up: his legs were immobilized, reducing his already low speed.
"Dammit!" The punk tumbled to the right, dodging Sherry's vicegrip. He was lanky and scrawny, but he was obviously well-built enough to perform such agile acrobatics. The punk kept the data pressed to his scanner until...
"Scanning complete."
"Excellent." The punk chuckled as he tossed the data back at Sherry. "Fine, keep your data for all I know! It doesn't matter anymore... soon, the world will be at mercy to Team Anarchy's great scheme!"
The punk took off in his bike, taking Makuhita with him on his way. Not looking back, he drove away, leaving a trail of dust that marked victory for Sherry and her Pokemon.
Hoenn Region - Route 116 Sherry caught the data in her hand and flinched back as the crook took off with his partner in crime. The USB memory stick was retrieved, Mac was still conscious, and the young woman was unharmed. Still, Sherry felt as if a J'avo had kicked her while she was down before calling her something vile in Italian. She had gotten the data back, but at what cost? The crook had already scanned it for the information contained within, and even if he had no idea what it pertained to, the people he answered to would have an idea.
"Team Anarchy," Sherry mumbled as she looked after the cloud of dust the crook left behind. "Just what is that? Why did they want this data?" she wondered.
Those questions would have to wait until there was someone to answer them. The woman shook her head before jogging over to Mac. The little Machop was scraped up and bruised, but he would live. Pokemon were resilient creatures, so if Sherry could take three feet of shrapnel through the stomach and live, Mac could survive his injuries. She praised him and patted his shoulder to which the little Machop replied with a callous shrug. He had every right to be displeased, as the trainer didn't have her full attention on his predicament.
To soothe the mental and physical wounds, Sherry offered a comforting smile and basic first-aid in the form of a low-strength potion solution. She gingerly sprayed the wounded areas of the little fighting type and made sure he was fit to walk before scooting him over to the PokeMobile. After checking to make sure she left no stone unturned, she helped Mac on, put on her helmet, turned on the ignition and scooted back to Rustboro.
It felt rather disgraceful to return to the city with pilfered data, but it was either that or nothing. She returned to the front of the Devon Corporation and parked the PokeMobile near the researchers. It was a prototype, and while it got Sherry to where she needed to go (comfortably too), it wasn't hers. She and Mac hopped off and approached the researchers from before with the data in her hand.
"I got the data back, but I couldn't capture the criminal," she said with an air of shame. She stuck out her hand with the data and added, "To make matters worse, the criminal scanned the data. Said he was working for a 'Team Anarchy'... I'm sorry. We did all that we could."
A place to both rest and eat is the pokemon center, we can book a room and eat in the cafeteria" Renamon said as they walked through the many marts
The fox was rather calm with the city for some reason "I would prefer to be in the woods though, it feels more like home" she trailed off as they got into a mart
Renamon offered some money to the spartan "What you are searching for isn´t hard to find, for what I see most marts are for the pokemon"
Have you ever crossed the line between sanity and madness? You would be amazed by what lies beyond the fog..
Chuckling, Lyrica couldn't help but think of the perfect contrast the two girls created. "Can't wait to see the menu...hopefully the eggrolls are good..." She coughed lightly. "You know, I just thought about something...what do Pokémon eat?" She held a finger to her chin in thought. "I mean...what kind of food? Do they need something special or could it be any normal food?"
Hoenn Region - Rustboro City The researchers when they were presented with the data relieved themselves of fear and doubt. However, they made disappointing grunts and sighs as Sherry alerted them of Team Anarchy's data counterfeiting. The head researcher especially seemed troubled, for it was his duty to keep their data from being stolen in the first place. Determined to resolve this issue, the head researcher devised a plan: a plan that won't be possible without Sherry.
"Thank you so much for bringing the data back to us." The head researcher thanked Sherry. "But as long as they still have a copy of the data, we must be vigilant."
"Chief, we have intel that the thief is heading to Slateport City." A researcher who had a bleeding head reported: his wound fixed so that he won't have any more blood loss.
"Send a dispatch team at once!" The head researcher answered, and the researcher, along with the crying woman scientist, briskly went to do the bidding. "We need contact with Tech Troop as well. We have to shut them down!"
"Aye, Chief!" Rest of the researcher nodded and ran back to the building to carry out the head researcher's plan. They might've panicked awhile ago, but they were the elites when it came to getting things done.
"Shameless to say, we need your help again, ma'am." The head researcher pleaded. "We will give you a hefty reward, so can you be of aid to us once again?" Johto Region - Goldenrod Department Store "Pokemon eat same food as humans do." Leaf announced. "They just have a distinct preference of what flavor they like."
"For example, my Cyndaquil loves sour food, but can't stand anything bitter." Crystal added.
Hoenn Region - Rustboro City - Devon Corporation. Apparently, this Team Anarchy was more bad news than Sherry originally thought. Whatever the data contained, it was valuable enough to send a team to capture the thief. A better, more coordinated team. The woman felt a tinge of relief at knowing that the corporation was on top of things and weren't as posh and proper as they seemed. Whatever these people researched, they were professionals.
And now, the professionals needed the assistance of Ms. Sherry Birkin. She looked down to her partner, Mac, and searched for his answer. The little Machop didn't seem to care much, so he did not reply with anything other than a shrug. Perhaps it didn't matter to him as long as he would be able to test his strength. Sherry, on the other hand, looked back to the head researcher and nodded. Sure, she thought. Just don't stab me in the back for the G-Virus.
"Of course we'll help. I know how it feels to lose data..."
John didn't say a word. He simply nodded at Renamon as he received the money without looking at it and walked into the Pokemart...
Sinnoh Region - Oreburgh City - Pokemart - 7:41 PM
As John entered the store, the door let out a small chime, signaling that the store had another customer. The clerk looked up towards the entrance and saw John standing there with a giant pistol and grenades on his hip and an assault rifle back, causing the clerk to widen his eyes and quickly look away, hoping not to offend the new customer. John didn't really care whether or not his presence was known, he just needed supplies. John took this opportunity to look at how much money Renamon gave him. He was a little surprised by how much he was given, but didn't show any outward change in emotion. John was appreciative for the amount of money he was given and was going to spend it wisely. John grabbed a basket from next to the entrance and walked down the small isles, towering over the small shelves to each of his flanks. John turned to his right and noticed that he was in the Pokeball aisle. the shelves were lined with normal pokeballs, aqua-colored pokeballs with orange fins on the top, and black pokeballs with a yellow "U" on the top. As John leaned down to get a better look at the exotic looking pokeballs when he noticed tags below them with their names and potency.
"Hmmm.....", John quietly uttered as he tried to decide which type of pokeball to buy.
(The 'Great Balls' have a catching efficiency of 1.5 and cost 600 poke dollars, while the 'Ultra Balls' have a catching efficiency of 2.0 and cost 1,200 poke dollars. The Ultra Ball is better by .5, but costs twice as much. The Great Balls are not as effective, but they only cost half as much. If I were to buy the Great Balls, I might not be able to catch more powerful pokemon, but if I buy the Ultra Balls, I would need to worry about wasting them on weaker pokemon... Not unless I grab both kinds.), John thought.
Finally coming to a decision, John grabbed 6 of each pokeball and placed them in the basket. Once that was done, John walked over to the adventuring supplies section of the store, where he found escape rope. After thinking up of a good enough reason to get it, John decided to grab two of them, for emergencies.
He then quickly moved on to the next aisle, where they kept all their status curing items and potions. Once John was there, he saw various healing items, ones that would cure status effects. John quickly examined all of the items in the aisle, then concluded that while the Full Heals were more expensive, they were also more versatile. As for the potions, the hyper potions were much more effective, even though they were much more expensive. With that in mind, John grabbed 4 Full Heals, 2 Hyper Potions, and 1 Potion and finally walked over to the clerk at the back of the store, calculating the price of all the items he grabbed as he walked.
As John walked up to the counter, the clerk looked up at John with a look that could only be described as somewhat intimidated with a mix of curiosity.
"So, is that everything?", the man asked the green giant as John placed all of the items on the counter.
"Yes.", John said as he handed the money to the clerk.
"Hang on, I need to scan everything first.", the clerk said as he began to quickly scan each item with a device that made a price pop up on the cash register's screen.
John simply observed the scanning process as the clerk grabbed each item, swiped the scanner over it, placed the scanned item in a small bag, then moved on to the next one. Once the clerk was finished scanning all of the items and put them away, he then turned his attention to John.
"That will be 20,000 Poke Dollars, Sir.", the clerk said.
John nodded at the clerk and handed him the money. Once the money was in the clerk's hands, it was quickly deposited in the cash register and John was given a receipt.
"Thank you for shopping at the Oreburgh Pokemart.", the clerk said.
John simply nodded at the clerk, grabbed the bag full of items, and left the store...
Sinnoh Region - Oreburgh City - 8:00 PM
As John left the store, he looked at his HUD's clock and noticed that he had taken 19 minutes to buy equipment from the store. Renamon was still waiting for him.
"Sorry it took so long. I gathered all of the items we might need in the future.", John calmly said to Renamon.
