The siren grew very loud as three police cars and an ambulance arrived. From the police cars came out the SFPD, and the ambulance had paramedics ready to take Alex from Ethan to the ER.
"One of 'em's dead." The lieutenant in the police force observed the man whose head Ethan slammed on the asphalt ground. He turned to Ethan. "Who gon' killed 'im? You did? Or that lady?"

Ethan was relieved that Alex had gotten help, but that relief was soon turned into apprehension when the police officer asked him who killed the thug lying on the ground. Ethan knew that if he told the officer the truth, then he might be taken away, but he wasn't about to let Alex take the blame for something he did. If anything, Ethan thought that he should at least tell the officer that the guy had a knife and was going to attack them. It was all self defense... right?
"He had a knife.. this one.", Ethan said to the police officer as he showed the knife to the officer, placing it on the ground in case the cop got startled and shot him.
After that, Ethan continued.
"That man was going to attack her, and there were more guys with knives, and one guy with a gun, so I did what I had to. All I did was slam him into the ground to try and stop him from attacking her, as well as get his knife to try and protect ourselves.", Ethan explained, hoping that he was wrong about the worst-case scenario coming to pass.

"As long as you did it in self-defense, you're fine." The lieutenant nodded as the policemen examined the dead thug to identify him. "We'll be taking your... ah, friend over there... to the nearest hospital. Here's my phone number. When you're fixed up and ready, call them and ask for your friend."
The lieutenant gave Ethan a business card that had Mercy Union Hospital written on it.
"As long as you did it in self-defense, you're fine." The lieutenant nodded as the policemen examined the dead thug to identify him. "We'll be taking your... ah, friend over there... to the nearest hospital. Here's my phone number. When you're fixed up and ready, call them and ask for your friend."
The lieutenant gave Ethan a business card that had Mercy Union Hospital written on it.

Jason silently sighed with secret relief that he wasn't going to prison as he took the card and looked at the police officer.
"Thank you. I'll be sure to get fixed up as soon as I can.", Ethan said to the police officer as he put the card into his jeans pocket and grabbed his jacket off the ground, putting it back on soon after.
Right as Ethan was about to leave for the club Nitro was still at, he remembered the reason Alex and him were there in the first place: the purse. Ethan quickly turned around and grabbed the purse off the ground before making his way back to
Nexxus.

After a couple minutes of walking, Ethan was back at the Nexxus dance club, purse in hand. Before Ethan could tell Nitro the news that Alex was hospitalized, he knew that he had to complete one last task. Ethan quickly scanned the area for the woman who lost her purse, and once he saw her, Ethan walked up to her with a calm, almost exhausted expression on his face.
"I believe this is yours.", Ethan said to the woman as he handed her her purse.

"Oh my god, you won't believe what would've happened if I lost my purse. I have my phone and my wallet and all my make-ups in there and if I lost all of them then I wouldn't be able to go out and buy a drink or post pictures on instagram or make sure I look pretty in front of Jacob or-"
The girl went on for minutes on end, but Ethan was spared the girl's rambling as he was hit on the back of his head by a familiar face.

After Nitro asked on the whereabouts of her friend, Ethan's face took a somewhat sorrowful, yet emotionless expression, as if he was only partially alive. Ethan didn't know how Nitro would take the news that her best friend had been shot, but he only hoped that he would at least be able to soften the blow by wording the news carefully.
"Alex... She.. was injured from when we fought a group of thugs. She was taken by an ambulance to the Mercy Union Hospital. She's not in critical condition or about to die, but the injury warranted a visit to the hospital.", Ethan said to Nitro.

Nitro recovered from her soliloquy and looked up to find Alex with his hair rustled and his jeans dusty. "Are you alright? Seeing that you're not in hospital and is talking and walking fine I assume you are..."

Upon seeing Alex right next to Nitro and him, Ethan couldn't help but be surprised. Just not too long ago, Alex was shot in the stomach and bleeding, but here she was, shrugging off the gunshot wound.
"Are you okay? I thought the gunshot wound was more serious than that. What happened?", Ethan asked Alex in surprise.
