Actually, my part of my family is unable to grasp even much simpler math.
They try to simplify 7a/5 to 2a because the exercise said something along the lines of "simplify until no longer possible."
It took me about an hour of explaining until they understood they were wrong.

Said mistakes need at least 2893 of those facepalms.
