Last one is stage 4 of TD, if you look at one of the endings, you could see that exact location.

The human village is a lot more civilized looking than past depictions, in that picture there is what looks like an early 1900's western style shop to the right. The buildings all have stone or concrete foundation and the roads look like their paved...with asphalt? Maybe it's just a lazy gravel texture though?

Yes, but in the actual game, you only see one part, not the whole thing.

I'm going to say it's lazy gravel. I can't imagine "ningen no sato" where "sato" is pretty indicative of country-like and rural styling to have asphalt. I mean, if you were to hear just "village", most of you would probably imagine some small settlement from a couple of hundred years ago with huts and no electricity. It's basically the same thing.
