Help with roofs?

At the moment, I'm building a big house with two stories and I've built the structure, pretty much everything inside except for furniture and things like that and I've started the roof, but it looks really bad. REALLY bad. I'm not quite sure how to make a better roof yet, so I decided I'd ask on the forums.

There's that little porch thingy on the back, so the roof can't really interfere with that, unless I move it down or something.
So can someone please give me some advice?

That looks more like an apartment building than a house... Just keep the roof flat. Outline the roof edges with something like stone slab.

The other possibility is to make the top a dome and give it a lighthouse-ish feel.
