Summary: MoF. Duh. This is the earliest game I could think of that doesn't require the sky to be red, permanently night, etc. etc.

Notes: I made this assuming that the quest system would allow allied NPCs and be divided into subquests that would be unlocked after completion of the one before it. Allied NPCs can be disabled, but are pretty useful and subquests are basically essential.

Marisa's always collecting those mushroom things, why don't you go and ask her for some? At least some of them should be edible, right?

Objective: Get some Mushroom Stew from Marisa

Spawn Information: Since this is an early mission, fairy spawns should be either weak or rare.

Player arrives at Marisa's place.

Marisa: "Duuuuuuuuuude...."
*You ask her how high she is.*
Marisa: "Nooo... It's-It's Hi, how are youueeuu.."

Alice: "Marisa!"
Alice: "It's no big deal or anything, but I-I brought you this food- D-Don't get the wrong idea! You'd never get enough nutrition from your stupid shrooms a-anyway!"
Marisa: "Gerrof me offischer... I'm still below...below the legal limits... Urrrghhh..."
Alice: "..."
Alice: "Marisa."
Marisa: "We-we're at the movieess. Alicee, why. Why are you here. WHY! GIB ME A LARGE COPPORN."

*Alice looks like she's on the verge of tears.*
Alice: "Y-You Idiot!"
*She storms out of the house, dropping the vegetables on the floor.*
Marisa: "I-I can make my own strobe-lights, duuude."
*Marisa starts blinking rapidly.*
Marisa: "I'm a genius! Shut up, Gerald- you-you don't know a thing about my education!"
*Marisa slides to the ground. It doesn't seem like she wants the vegetables.*
Marisa: "Hey, pee-paw! Can we go a-clammin' today?"

*You pick up the bag of vegetables*
Obtain 8x potato, 8x carrot, 1x pumpkin
*You notice something has fallen out of the bag. It's a pamphlet, the sort of thing that gets handed out in the village, where Alice presumably did her shopping..*
Pamphlet: "MORIYA SHRINE GRAND OPENING! Free charms for everybody for the next three weeks! We offer more enticing services on request!"
*You tuck it into your pocket. You have a feeling Reimu would want to know about this.*

Upon arriving at Reimu's place, deliver 8x potato, 8x carrot, 1x pumpkin.
Reimu: I don't remember Marisa having vegetables... Eh, whatever.
*You show her the pamphlet.*
Reimu: "What is this... Moriya... Shrine? Is this why the Shrine isn't getting its donations?! I'll kill them!"

Wow, this seems pretty in-depth! I like it! I'll have to edit around some of the item drops and such to make it work (eg, the items won't drop and text will appear while the items will appear in your inventory) but I like what you have so far! (Let's just hope the darn plugin devs update the broken plugin. Thankfully, they've been working on it, just not "stable" yet.)

Stage One: Myriad of Autumn Gods

Given by Reimu, Hakurei Shrine
Those imposters at this Moriya Shrine thing are stealing my donations! I'm going to go up there and win back the people's hearts and money! But I don't really know the terrain well, seeing as how I never really went to Youkai Mountain before... You've got to know your way there, right? No..? Well, two heads are greater than one! Stop dawdling!

Objective: Find a viable route to Youkai Mountain. Keine at the Human Village should have some information.

Spawn Information: Medium-Density, Low-Power, Low-Health. Aki is waiting above the Human Village.

Upon arrival at Human Village
Reimu: Sniff, sniff. Huh, I smell something tasty... Auu, I haven't even eaten those vegetables yet...
Aki: How rood!
Reimu: Eh?
Aki: Thinking of eating a Harvest God, are you? What are you, a-
Reimu: D-don't jump to conclusions! Resorting to cannibalism is only something that Marisa would do!

pew pew pew. Aki Defeated, drops 10x baked potato

Reimu: Ah, these look good... Here, you can have one.

Obtain one baked potato

Reimu: Are you trying to steal another one? What are you thinking, I already gave you one, the rest are mine!

Objective: Go to Keine.

Reimu: Hi, Keine.
Keine: Oh, it's the Hakurei Shrine Maiden. Welcome. Did you hear about the new shrine being set up?
Reimu: It's the very reason I'm here!
*Keine ignores her*
Keine:...They had this lovely girl come down to the village square and pass out pamphlets and fliers. I offered her a job as a tutor if she wanted it, but she said-
Reimu: KEINE!
Keine: Oh, oh, pardon me. I sometime get so pumped up about these new things- nothing really-
*Reimu looks like she's about to pop an artery.*
Reimu: KEINE, HOW DO WE GET TO YOUKAI MOUNTAIN!?
Keine: No need to get so loud- Well it's right over there in the distance. Past the Scarlet Devil Mansion. There's a little old dirt road, by the river and overgrown with lots of weeds and plants- If you follow that, you'll reach a nice sunny grove at the base of Youkai Mountain. Oh, are these sweet potatoes? They look-
Reimu: YOU CAN'T HAVE ONE!
*She stuffs five into her mouth and runs out the door.*
Keine: How rude.

Keine: Reimu will be alright as long as she keeps herself motivated, and with food in her stomach, that'll be all she needs. You, however, look a bit lacking in terms of defensive abilities. Here, I confiscated these from one of my students. Try and keep safe, okay?

Stage Two: Scars of the Gods

Given by Reimu, Outside Keine's Classroom
Alright, are you ready to head off? I see Keine's given you some equipment as well, so you won't be as useless as you were before, but you should find some more potions and armour if you don't feel like it's enough... And don't try and steal my potatoes again- I worked hard to get them, you know! If you want something to drink or eat, get some milk or something!

Objective: Head along the Dark Road to the river at the base of Youkai Mountain
(Dark Road needs to be constructed)

Spawn Information: Thick density, fairies come hard and fast but deal only slightly more damage. Hina is standing about three-quarters of the way to the Untrodden Valley.

Reimu: Ugh.. This place is so dark and overgrown. Somebody should really cut the grass and clean it up a bit.
Reimu: And I'm down to my last two potatoes too...
*she eats one*

Hina: Oh, something smells nice... But people shouldn't be eating in here.
Hina: In fact, people shouldn't be in here at all! Who goes there?!

Reimu: Is somebody there?
Hina: You shouldn't go any further, you know... Are you guys lost?
Reimu: We're not lost, we're going up the mountain!
Hina: B-but it's dangerous up there!
Reimu: Like that will stop us!
Hina: If you're not going to listen to reason, then I'm afraid I'm going to have to fight you!
Reimu: Fight me? Who the hell do you think I am? I defeated the goddamn Grim Reaper last game!
Hina: She's not much of a Grim Reaper if you ask me....

pew pew pew. Hina should spawn some dolls to assist her because she's the head of that doll army thing. Hina mainly throws curse-potions of slowness and poison and supplements them with weak attacks. This is where Reimu's milk suggestion should come in handy. Hina defeated, drops 3x Potions of Slowness, 3x Potions of Poison.

Hina: Ahh... Okay, okay, I give up! I was just trying to protect you anyway, so it's your fault if you get your butt handed to you up the mountain...
Reimu: We can handle ourselves just fine!
Hina: Even so, it's dangerous out there! Take this, just in case.

Receive 2x Potion of Regeneration

Turn In: Reimu (between Dark Road and Untrodden Valley)
Reimu: Ah, we've finally reached the end of that road, and I can see the river ahead!
Reimu: And before you get second thoughts about that potato, it's the biggest and most delicious one! I've been saving it for later, so don't even try and beg me for it!

Stage Three: Flawless Fortress

Given by: Reimu, just in front of Dark Road
Had enough rest now? The path ahead is much more open- if you feel like you're ready, we'll press on. Make sure you have enough supplies to last you for a while.

Objective: Reimu seems like she knows what she's doing for once. It might be a good idea to let her lead the way.

Notes: Reimu follows the river around the Autumnal Forest and Genbu Creek for a while, stopping at Genbu Marsh.

Spawn Information: Relatively low, a breather before we hit Momiji and the rest of the people.

Upon arriving at Genbu Marsh
Reimu:...
*She stops and looks around.*
Reimu: What are you looking me like that for?
Reimu: It-It's not like I'm lost or anything! I'm just taking a short break, that's all!
*Invisible Nitori spawns behind Reimu*
???: . . .
Reimu: ...
Reimu: I think somebody's watching us...
???: Boo!
Reimu: Kyaa! Somebody's there! Quick, kill it, kill it!

Nitori runs around the player without attacking until she is hit. Reimu runs around too.
Nitori's lines:

Nitori is hit., loses invisibility- maybe delete her and spawn a normal Nitori?
???: Ah, my optical camouflage!
Reimu: Oh, it's just a kappa... Why were you doing that?! That scared me to death!
Kappa: Well, I'm glad I scared you, even though you didn't run off.
Reimu: That's mean... Who would have thought a Kappa would play tricks like these?
Kappa: Well, it's really dangerous up there. I don't think you should try to climb that mountain. I was only trying to scare you off so you wouldn't get hurt...
Reimu: Well, we have urgent business with the people at the top of the mountain.
Kappa: Really? Are you here to defeat them? They're so pushy lately, they've been standing outside our village with a loudspeaker yelling propaganda at us.
Kappa: Come on, I'll help you destroy them!
*She runs off*
Reimu: ...
Reimu: I don't know if she is talking about the Moriya Shrine or the Tengu.

Objective: Follow the Kappa
Notes: Nitori takes you and Reimu to a workshop in the Kappa Village.
Kappa: The name's Nitori.
Nitori: I work as a mechanical engineer here at the village, finding items from the outside word and repurposing them into useful tools.
Nitori: I know how to make an item that you can bribe the one of the Tengu with into giving you information about the new Shrine. You see, they're a very possessive bunch, and most of them keep what information they learn to themselves.
Nitori: But some of them might know something about the newcomers, and they *might* give you some valuable information if you give them something in return.

Turn In: Nitori (at the workshop)
Nitori: Come back when you want to help me out. With your assistance, I'll make them an offer they can't refuse!

Ah, so you've returned! I hope you're ready to help me out...
Nitori: Here, Reimu. Take this.
Reimu: What the hell is this thing?
Nitori: It's a digital camera, a device from the Outside World that takes pictures- be careful with it, it runs on electricity and I have no way of generating any without asking the people at Eientei...
Nitori: See, you use it like so....
*Nitori expertly manipulates the camera and blinds you both with a flash of light*
Reimu: Gah! I can't see!
Nitori: Oops, I forgot to turn the flash off... Anyway, do you need me to show you again?
Reimu: No, no... We saw it. Sorta.
Nitori: Good. Now I need you to head back to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. A useful source tells me that a magician often frequents the library to 'borrow' some books. I'm sure the Tengu as well as the librarian will greatly appreciate your efforts in capturing the culprit...
Reimu: Doing in Marisa, eh? Well, I think she's starting to go a little overboard with the borrowing anyway... Say, why don't we split up? You can get some more supplies from the Human Village, and I'll meet you outside the Mansion.

Objective: Maybe you can find some Supplies in the Human Village... Keine would know where to get them.
Spawn Information: Light but strong attacks. Fairies come in a light but steady stream.

Upon arriving at The Classroom at the Human Village
Keine: Oh, hello! How's the search for the Moriya Shrine going?
Keine: Eh, you're trying to take pictures of Marisa shoplifting?
Keine: You have my full support! Criminals should be shamed and humiliated!
Keine: LIKE YOU, STEVE.
*She smashes Steve's head into the desk*
Keine: ...Anyway, if you want to catch Marisa, you'll have to get past the gatekeeper. I hear she's formidable. Also, Marisa only goes to the library at night time, so you've got to tell Reimu to wait.
*You tell Keine about getting supplies.*
Keine: Supplies?
Keine: If you're serious about fighting the Moriya Shrine, you'll need all the magic charms you can get. Tell you what. Akyuu knows a lot of people, and I'm on reasonably close terms with her. Go after Marisa first, and then come back. I'll talk to her and see if she knows somebody who can supply you with equipment.

Objective: Head to the SDM at Night.

Upon arriving in front of the SDM, Reimu is just off the path, hidden amongst some trees.
Reimu: Jeez, what took you so long?
Reimu: And you didn't get any supplies either! What sort of sidekick are- Shh, here she comes!
*Marisa spawns and starts to walk down the road.*
Marisa: ...Damn, I don't remember anything from last night... Something about going clamming...
Reimu: Let's follow her at a distance. Be very sneaky...

*Marisa walks down the road. Reimu and Player sneak from behind at a distance.*

Marisa: Good, China's asleep as always. Looks like tonight will be an easy heist as well!
Meiling: ZzzZZzz... Being attacked by familiar forms is terrifying!
Reimu: ....

*Marisa enters the SDM. Reimu and Player follow at a distance.*

Marisa: !
*Marisa stops. Reimu and Player stop*
*Sakuya spawns and walks towards Player and Reimu*
Sakuya: Just now, did I...?
Remillia: Saku-tan! Saku-tannn!
Sakuya: Right away, mistress... Need to see the folks at Eientei about my eyes...

*Marisa moves into Voile. Reimu and Player follow at a distance.*

Marisa: Good, Patchouli's asleep today. This will make it all the easier!
*She starts picking books from off the shelf.*
Reimu: This is our chance!
*Reimu fumbles with the camera and presses the capture button. There is a brilliant flash of white.*
Marisa: Gah!
*Marisa runs into Patchouli*
Reimu: Oh no, the flash!
Patchouli: Kyaa! Wait... Marisa?!
Reimu: Shoot, I'm getting out of here!
*Reimu runs out of the SDM*
Patchouli: These books in your bag... You thought it was going to be an easy heist, but not this time!

Objective: It might be a good idea to get out of here.

Patchouli: Today your book stealing ways meet their ends! Prepare yourself!
Marisa: Stealing?! It's just borrowing!... For a protracted period of time!

*Marisa and Patchouli run around the spaceship shooting fireballs at each other until the player leaves.*

Reimu: Ah, that was close... At least we got the undeniable evidence!
