Just started this game, went Japan at first. Went USA after I unlocked it. I killed many but the maneuvering was horrible, so switched back to Japan. Great game so far, tbhSpoiler:

Aye that's one of the benefits of RB. You can make one OP crew and switch out aircraft.
As for how much: $25 (5,000 Golden Eagles).
Luckily I was already on the doorstep of Tier III, so I just got the next B-25 and then the B-17. I then got the crew maxed, (didn't get the expert qualification) and got a few other aircraft researched but not purchased cause B-17.
Max lvl gunners and pilot are fun...
