just a concept about the shadows and thus the Demonarcs

Think of them like Lion Ants

they don't exactly move once set.
They can't freely move into the light (hence why it said stay in the light.)
The one way they can move in the light is by latching onto a person and acting as their shadow.
people don't have shadows in the HoT as a sort of enchantment. If they do then that's a Demonarc portal shadow.
crossing over a shadow or standing in one of the natural shadows of the halls leads to the Demonarcs being able to grab them.

Shadows are sort of like Demonarc's ways of creating portals and to exist outside of the HoD in the Manor.
So if you walk through a shadow, you'll find yourself with a shadow.

Now natural occurring shadows in the building (i.e. shadows cast by columns) can be dissipated slightly by light, but the shadows will still try to get to you if you are within their natural bounds (imagine a pitch black hallway and your carrying a lantern. It would look like a perfect sphere of light that is trying to be invaded by the moving shadows of the hallway.

The HoT doesn't have a pitch black area, but the natural shadows cast by objects and columns still exist, creating the maze like features of the Manor (the building itself is straight forward if you ignore how the Shadows are in the rooms. If you pay attention to the shadows, it's actually an invisible maze with the shadows being the walls.

@Book

Which part of the HoT is everyone in?

North, south, east, or west?

The side with the stairs I suppose...which I guess is either east or west...assuming the entrance is at the south and no one would place stairs directly opposite the entrance. Considering there are those demonarcs and the sun is at the west side, they should be at the east.

anyway, gd night

How many times can you die a day~?
How many times have you died a day~?

@ Book

There's 4 sets of stairs in each corner of the building.

Technically speaking, the HoT is the entrance Hall for the Sanctuary.
And the primary entrance is at the 12th floor. The one behind the clock is a secondary and is the only one that connects at the first floor.

The main deal is is technically you can't just take one set of stairs all the way up.
A Shadow would block your way up.
So even though there are 4 sets of stairs, its still maze like.

And it's not like an entire side of the Halls is dark.
It's how the shadows fall within naturially.
Think of every object in the Halls being a sun dial. Except instead of the Sun, its torches.
The naturally cast shadows vary from floor to floor.
Each floor corresponding to a time of day.
So even though there are duplicate rooms, you wouldn't go through them the same on each floor due to the way the shadows naturally are cast in the rooms.

Hey everyone, making another app here.

Name: Axton

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Spoiler

http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130707065656/borderlands/it/images/a/ac/Axton01.png
He stands at 5ft 9, and his turret behind him does not say DAHL on it at all. He also has a different Assault Rifle than seen in the above picture.

Race: Human.

Profession and/or Talents: A marksman, and a bit of a mechanic. He knows his way around a gun, especially assault rifles. Despite his personality he can be relied on in combat with his Sabre Turret which he so lovingly refers to as "Sarah", and his trusty assault rifle. He specializes in guarding choke points, or will be on the front line of combat. No matter what position he is stationed at in a battle Axton can be a valuable asset... that is if he isn't disobeying orders... which he tends to do... a lot. Either way he can still be valuable, just hope his pride doesn't get too him. Outside of battle Axton has a few talents. Some ranging from cooking military grade meals to repairing different machines. Mostly military grade vehicles, and even repairing guns. So he is a bit of a mechanic as well.

Inventory:
Spoiler
Sabre Turret aka "Sarah" (as seen in his picture up above): Axton is able to deploy a versatile Automated Sabre Turret, a mounted gun featuring 360° rotation that can be outfitted with various weapons for enhanced firepower. Normally by default it possesses 3 barrels that are fully automatic, and are meant for smaller more mobile targets that possesses about 900 rounds. Then on top of it all he has 2 six round pod rocket batteries which contains 6 small pod rockets per battery (in total 12 rockets.) Each Pod Rocket is small, roughly tennis ball size, but each rocket does pack a decent punch. They don't have large splash damage, as their explosions are more compact than that of a grenade. However that makes them much more dangerous on singular targets. These pod rockets do not home in, and only travel in the direction they are fired. They are meant for larger, well armored targets.

His turret is normally in a compact data storage device, that when he tosses it on the ground the turret will materialize. It's automatic in the sense that it will target any enemies. It does this because it reads his "thoughts" in that anyone that is not on his side, it will attack. However this comes at a downside in the fact that if he gets pissed off at someone it will turn it's attention (but not fire) at said person. Even if the person he is pissed at is an ally. So when he has it deployed... don't piss him off...

Double Barrel Titan CS-X Assault Rifle:
Spoiler An Assault Rifle he has kept when he was with the military. It is a Double Barreled Assault Rifle meaning it sacrifices accuracy for increased firepower. It has a clip of 60 rounds which the clips come in the form of large black metal strips of metal that slide into the side of the gun. Despite it containing a clip of 60 9mm armor piercing rounds, the fact that it has two barrels makes it go through ammo as though it only had a clip of 30 rounds. At close ranges this weapon is highly dangerous due to it's two barrels, but at farther ranges it loses accuracy and power. So just stay out of range or behind cover until he runs out of ammo... which he does a lot.

Military Grade Energy Shielding Device:
Spoiler Due to the fact that he does not wear any traditional military grade armor he needs a shielding device. Since he was with the military for Nevaaras's colony CY-001 he has a Military Grade Energy Shielding Device. The device hangs off his belt and projects an energy shield around his body that can shrug off most gun fire (like from handguns, energy based firearms, and such.) Though the stronger the shot the higher the chance of the shot piercing through his shields, and right into his flesh. The shield also has a cooling system that protects him from the desert heat of Nevaaras. Something that is needed for most people who live in the colony. Granted he still gets hot from the heat, it just protects him to where he won't get a heat stroke if he sits outside in the sun for a few hours. Not only that but it also blocks him from getting sun burned. If his shields come under constant fire, are hit by an explosion's splash damage, or is taken out by strong arm's fire then the shields will shut down, and will take approximately 10 seconds before recharging. Recharging can be halted if the shield is shot when it is recharging.

Personality: Axton is arrogant, and prideful... OH and a little trigger happy sometimes. He is the kind of guy that would be given orders, and the second something comes up where he can show off, or his pride is hurt or mocked he will immediately disobey orders to protect his pride. Several times this had compromised several missions for him. He wasn't always like this tough. He used to be a pretty chill guy who would follow orders through. Yes he was still prideful, and a bit arrogant but he had it under control. But after he was promoted to Sergeant his arrogance and pride quickly got the best of him as he had begun to compromise several missions. One of which resulted in him accidentally blowing up part of a mining facility. Granted there were no casualties, but due to these compromised missions he was demoted down to Private, and is now stationed as a guard. He is also a bit of an alcoholic sometimes (he only drinks when bored out of his mind.) He also does show signs of compassion at times. For example if someone he does trust is injured, he will try and get his friend to safety. He also does show remorse for his actions when they go wrong... sometimes...

History/Bio: When Axton was 26 he joined the Nevaaras CY-001 Military Force. Over the years he had done a few things that were... questionable, but he was good enough to reach the rank of Sergeant. Once he reached that rank his pride, and arrogance started to boil up. After this he had compromised several missions, some of which had resulted in losing a few men, and at least a dozen more injuries. Even when he did try to explain his reasoning's as "they made me do it" he was still demoted to private after a few months of being a Sergeant.

Now Axton is stationed as a guard in CY-001 on Nevaaras. The only colony on the planet (well the only colony for civilians.) The life of a guard is dull for him, as nothing really exciting happens in the desert. Being demoted to private, and stationed as a guard on a desert planet is a dull life. After all not much goes on except the occasional sandstorm, and mugging in the colony. The injury to his pride that he suffered from being demoted is his own fault, and he is still looking for a chance to make up for his accidents... his pride still gets to him though...

Notes: Based on if not pretty much Axton from Borderlands 2 which I got just yesterday, and started playing a lot.

Damn... I don't know where to start...

I don't want o start in the desert where everyone else is because, well... it's kind of a desert. It wouldn't be tactical of Hiel. I might wait til someone starts somewhere else or I'll force start a planetary story.

@ Wonder

how is a desert not tactical?
tbh, deserts are typically goldmines...
literally.
Deserts are rich with resources, why most of the time you see mining there.
It's desolate, don't have to worry about too much else...
