RP General Discussion

The thing is, in this RP, it's less a matter if you ARE OP or not, it's a matter of HOW OP you are. Yukari could destroy the Earth if she so pleased, Devourer nearly did, Auditor's a corrupted GOD. Face it, we've all indulged in OPness a little (read: a lot) here, and honestly, that's fine,and makes for some cool, and fairly ridiculous battles.

The thing is, with John, at least for me, I don't want battle to last five seconds with him the victor, because, in all honesty, that's boring, and considering his training, augmentations and the like, can probably happen. I don't know much about the cheap cheesing of John (mainly because I haven't done much of it.), but I have a feeling it's for a similar reason. Sometimes detail like you have can actually offput people by making the opponent seem... daunting, per say.

Mima has a point, we could put the characters on what they could do, many characters have the nuclear option that could end things in a moment, but in the RP, that would make things too fast, not fun and simply boring.

As for me, you have my acceptance for Vala. If you want, I could calculate and find what she would be able to do. For example, AIs can work wonders with MJOLNIR armor. :p

It can, to some people. I've seen it happen before on another forum. Wouldn't surprise me if it was an unconcious thing.

Hmm...

You know, the funny thing is that I made the app super detailed to show that I had nothing to hide and that I wasn't going to pull something random out of my @$$ or fall back on a cheap Deus ex machina. It was to show that I had integrity and honesty, that I wouldn't cheat people when they either confronted him or wanted To know what he was capable of.

It seems to have had the opposite effect. Instead, it puts him in a corner where everyone discredits his abilities to make a dramatic plot, but oftentimes makes him seem inept.

I don't know how to fix this, especially if it's a subconscious thing. Maybe I need to think about this more?

Was it solved on the other forum? What happened?

ah... yes...that feeling...
I know what you mean... and the only thing I can say that I can theorize is that most characters are stuck in a "twilight zone" in terms of their full potential. With the Spartans, their full potential is known and quantified by lore. Most character's lore doesn't go to such specifics. Therefore... creative liberty is applied generously by the writers. I think that's what you're noticing.

For some reason I don't necessarily see a glaring problem.

1. The one reason why you find John coming out short against the bosses is maybe because of the game's origins. John's from HALO universe where everything is explainable by science, while the people he's around are based on magic and occult and arcane stuff. Sure he has the Light and Dark magic in his disposal, but he's still a novice at it and the magic comes out in mixed results.

2. Face it, John's THE main character as far as the amount of attention put into the arcs go. In the end there will always be plot armor, no matter what kind of storytelling you visit. The most that we can do is make sure we make the main character work for that victory.

3. Unrelated, I'm waiting for you in Corrupture.

Eh, I guess you're right about that. The creative aspect is perhaps the weakness, as well as him being quite out of place in a world dominated by magic-based Characters. His aspect is more science-based.

I hate to admit it, but I guess you may also be right about the main character status. I don't know (I have been saying that a lot), but it's like I have thought so much and so deeply about this that I no longer remember why I even focused on this topic in the first place... Does anyone remember why? -.-

Utsuh, about what you asked of offering me what to know about the Spartan armor, I´m ok with the knowledge I have from the games, don´t worry^^

Ok, but I thought what I might have to say might be of interest, especially what AIs do to a SPARTAN's reaction time. (Hint: it's so cool, especially when you consider that they both are essentially linked to work as one. I think it's mainly because it's me geeking out about it.) :p
