Name: Selena Wehrman
Age: 28
Race: Formerly human
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Personality:
Selena was a hard-working, ambitious woman who did not hesitate to sacrifice others to reach even more power. This was due to the constant stigma others had about her father, Commander Octavius Wehrman, pulling strings to get her into the army. She trained harder than anyone in the EXCELSIOR, and went on more dangerous missions than anyone in her ranks to prove her skills to unspecified crowd.
Type: Gunslinger
Class: Sniper
One shot, one kill. The snipers are a minor branch of the gunslinger class that are specialized to take down foes from afar with super-precise scoped rifles. Applicants undergo arduous training sessions that produces the most efficient snipers: even more rigorous than regular training regimen, which includes, but are not limited to: advanced rifling, stealth, reconnaissance and, if necessary, stripping of emotions. 98% of applicants either fail or give up.
Abilities: N/A
Special Weapon:
Selena does not have a customized MDT weapons, unlike every other Captain rank soldiers of EXCELSIOR. Selena believed that advanced MDT weapons would only mean that the soldiers would be dependent on the said weapons, and that when they were not able to rely on them, they would be left vulnerable, weak. Thus, Selena only has the basic sniper rifle given to the Hunters who have just become the sniper.
Other Gear:
Despite her protest, her father, Commander Octavius Wehrman, ordered these two gadgets to go with her basic sniper combat suit.
A special device created by the MDT installed inside Selena, this grappling hook was normally hidden within the gauntlet that was part of Selena’s battle suit. When needed, Selena could’ve activated the gauntlet to seemingly form a hardlight grappling hook that would’ve latched onto any surface and allow Selena free mobility in the sky. She could’ve used the grappling hook indefinitely, but she couldn’t have had two hooks active at the same time.
A cloaking device hidden within a small necklace that was part of Selena’s battle suit, the Gespenst Cloaking Pendant was a custom-crafted scientific genius that would’ve allowed the wearer to go into a completely invisible state for upwards of 60 seconds before needing 10 minutes of recharge. It was mainly used to hide the tracks of the wearer when he or she was found by the enemy, but it was not fit for prolonged infiltration.
Faction: EXCELSIOR (former)
Selena was a captain of the EXCELSIOR peacekeeping organization. She climbed rather fast through the ranks; only taking upwards of 6 years while others would take 10 to 15 years. Some claimed that her rapid promotion came because of her father, but those that saw her fight would say otherwise.
Backstory:
Selena originally did not wish to become a soldier. She was particularly gifted in singing: to the point that multiple record labels wished to partner with the prodigy at a young age. Her father, commander of the peacekeeping organization called EXCELSIOR, did not wish for her daughter to follow his bloodied footsteps, and fostered Selena’s young gift. Her mother, Daniella Werhman, was also fond of Selena’s musical talent. A famous soprano, Daniella taught her daughter everything she knew about moving people’s hearts with a voice. With the parent’s continued support and the life of luxury that came from being in the long bloodline of military officers and entrepreneurs, Selena lived in the lap of luxury.
However, when the Drifters came, no amount of money or musical talent could save you. In a chaotic attack, Selena witnessed her own mother ripped apart by a feral Drifter while she protected her daughter and hid her in the ruins. The sight was too horrific for such a young blossoming flower to bear, and Selena soon descended into trauma-induced depression.
When Selena finally overcame the loss of her mother, she made the decision to give up on her potential career as a singer to join the EXCELSIOR. If there was one thing Selena was good at other than singing, it was hitting things from afar. She had impeccable accuracy, and Octavius always joked that she would make a fine soldier. But when he was approached by a determined and yet an empty shell of a daughter wishing to join EXCELSIOR, Octavius was stumped. He tried to persuade his daughter to do otherwise, but none could bend Selena’s will to join the EXCELSIOR and bring vengeance to the Drifters.
Selena’s acceptance into EXCELSIOR was easy, thanks to her father pulling some strings. However, Selena despised that. She wanted to join in her own volition; not by some string pulling and high-handed entrance. Thus she trained, trained harder than necessary, and gained promotions rapidly. While she was given jealous remarks and glances, her commanding officer, Commander Reisen, praised her efforts. The two quickly became close, not only as a superior and a subordinate, but also as friends and partners.
6 years into the life of a soldier, Captain Selena demanded a mission that will take her deep into the Drifter territory of the ruined city of Chateau, the very place where she saw her mother die. Although Commander Reisen made remarks of suspicion, the other commanders approved the mission and sent Selena alone into the Contamination Zone of Chateau.
Her mission was to eliminate all hostile in the area and clear an LZ for future missions.
She never came back from that day.
Name: Octavius Wehrman
Age: 61
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality:
Octavius is everything a veteran soldier-turned general possesses. He is, as a standing officer, a hardened, strict, and dedicated leader, while as a field commander he is ruthless and merciless like his code name suggests. He appears to care for his troops like an impassive father would care for his sons and daughters: he may not show it, but he would do anything to save his men.
Type: Melee
Class: Weaponmaster
Master of all, Octavius is familiar with any weapon you throw at him for him to use. He may not have the fancy duel disk and a deck of playing cards, but he has something better: a goddamn lance that he uses to skewer foes. Want more? How about a saber he has sheathed to his side for close-ranged combat. He is also good with his revolver which is strapped to the other side.
Abilities:
Years and years of combat experience has taught Octavius the behavior of both organic and metallic enemies in split second combat. This allows Octavius to plan out his attack beforehand, felling the opponent in front of him in much more efficient way than just shooting at them or slashing at them and hoping that it hits. To common eyes, it would appear as if Octavius can read minds. In reality, he just reads the flow of the battle.
Special Weapon:
Octavius does not use MDT crafted weapons. Instead, he has his own weaponsmith forge the most beautiful and effective spearheads and saber blades for him to use in combat, as well as the ammunitions for his ancestral Wehrman pistol. In reality, however, Octavius can take any weapon: even a rusty fork wielded by Octavius would be more of a threat than an entire squad of rookies with the most advanced weaponry.
Other Gear: N/A
Faction: EXCELSIOR
Octavius the Tyrant is one of the more influential commanders in EXCELSIOR. As his code name suggests, the man have come to powerful and respectable position due to his unfiltered hatred and ruthlessness towards whoever is the enemy of the organization and, through that, the entire humanity. He has the served the organization for over 40 years.
Backstory:
Commander Octavius Wehrman was once part of the greatest squad in EXCELSIOR history. Dubbed the Golden Wisemen, the four legendary soldiers brought flawless victory after victory throughout their campaign. It was only thanks to them that EXCELSIOR was able to get such a foothold on the planet as they do now.
However, even the immortalized heroes like the four would suffer from the mortal shell of humanity. Two of the four members have died of old age. One has retired and is now living a tranquil life far from the Drifter threats on the home dimension Earth. Only Octavius remained serving the organization and, as quoted by him, he will not stop until he takes his last breath.
One day, Octavius received a message from the retired member of the Golden Wisemen: an engineer by the name of Eric Schulz. Schulz left the message on urgent, and put the highest classification on the message so that no one can access it except for Octavius himself. Curiosity filled Octavius as to what could possibly be in the message that would be considered so secret.
What he saw was extraordinary. Thoughts swam into Octavius’ mind as he grinned. So EXCELSIOR has been hiding something, he thought as he rose from his seat. A glimmer of change shone in his gaze as he stepped outside, pretending as if nothing has happened. However, something has indeed happened, and it would soon trigger a chain reaction that would only serve as Octavius’ rise of power once more.
