I also have decided on a child from the future for them and written in their appearance some midpoint of the story. It is a part of my plot twist #2 so I can't say what or how it will happen...
Though I can say that if we don't like the concept, I have a failsafe built in to it so we can scratch the idea easily.

I think I found a weirdly awesome picture
Just imagine if someone like say John was injected with something and he went on a little "trip" and that's what he constantly saw... a bunch of rainbow flashing cats firing rainbow lasers out of their mouth with MEOW in big flashing letters in a flashing tunnel...
I wonder how confused John would be after he comes to his senses...
