Well, "TECHNICALLY" her sword can take any form it wants whatsoever, so I'm TECHNICALLY not breaking canon.
However, the sword's most commonly seen form is that of a Chinese jian. However, from an engineering perspective making a jian out of wood is annoying because of stress points and whatnot. Also, they look boring. That said, I said fuck the visual canon and take the technical canon by just redesigning it from scratch and matching the color scheme. It looks cooler anyway. :P
