@Lunasa

Well to be fair, I kinda said that plasma-based weaponry, while high-end, was not uncommon in the military. After all, this is an RP where artificial humans have been created, so who's to say what technologies were developed first? Some technologies might be primitive, while others are rather advanced. :p

Things like cybernetic humans, laser weapons and power armor already exist in the world of Taboo. It wouldn't be unreasonable to think that an older model of a power armor was no linger in use because it became outdated. That and things like heavy power armor might not be the best for fighting kishin. While it can protect against some of them, for others the armor would jsut weigh you down and prevent you from fleeing from the kishin. If it were something as advanced as the power armor in Halo which is made of titanium (i think) and moves on it's own according to the user's brain waves then THAT wold be a lot more viable. But think of outdated power armor as being something we could easily create in the real world today. I the end it would be more like an exo skeleton but it's basically the same thing.

So basically, everything about Raiko is behind current technology.

@Lunasa

Well I don't know, a railgun still sounds pretty damn effective at killing Kishin. :p

As for the armor, how advanced would it be? What does it do? Is it like Fallout armor, or Halo/Crysis/any other sci-fi armor?

For a minute charge and something like a 10 minute cool period for the user? Hardly. Plasma is definitely superior in that its more efficient at damaging targets based on its fire rate and heat transfer.

Well except that at the end of the day, it still can't take down a colossal Kishin. Railguns vs plasma weaponry is like comparing artillery cannons to machine guns. While it takes a while to prepare and cool down, I would imagine that a railgun would be rather devastating, and unlike plasma weaponry, it's easier to manage on a larger scale. I would imagine that it would be rather expensive and difficult to maintain a giant plasma cannon when you could build a giant railgun.

Mine has reliability in heated battle, but one shot from a railgun will down just about anything. :p

Fair enough.

I'm just pissed that I didn't even realize that technology was this advanced. If I knew, I wouldn't have weakened it so much from its namesake.

@Lunasa

Well, you could use it as an opportunity to have your character upgrade her weapon as time passes, so not all is lost.

(but the joke is that it's the Mark 154 Kerria 4 Railgun, a.k.a. M154K4 as in Misaka Mikoto)

I suppose so, but I need something that makes Raiko change her mind about being content with it as it is. Something will eventually turn up I guess.

The greatest danger as a soldier or fighter of any kind is being contempt with how strong you are. When I fighter or any kind of profession really stops trying to improve, become better, then they're doomed to fall behind the ones who are working their ass off. But give it enough time and I'm sure she'll learn that.
