Taboo | How To Slay A Kishin OOC

The Story

Hundreds of years ago, In a solar system thousands of light years away from our own. Two beings of great power fought in a battle that resulted in the death of an entire solar system. The unrivaled magic of these two titans caused a disturbance in the cosmos that awakened timeless primordial creature. For eons the creature had slept, laying dormant in an eternal slumber. But it was awakened by the powerful magic of the two clashing titans. awakened, but not fully restored.

The creature was hungry, starved. It needed sustenance, something, anything to keep it awake, to keep it from starving to death. The creature looked and looked, but there was nothing left. The titans had destroyed EVERYTHING in their battle. The creature was about to give up hope, that was until he found... us.

The creature managed to find our home, the planet Earth simply by chance. A world like this would hardly even be a snack for the creature. However, it had a plan. The creature split off several billion smaller beings from itself and set them free in our world. This way he could sleep while he gathered energy from our world. These creatures came in all different shapes and sizes, but they all had one common goal. Extracting the life force from anything that moved. Humans, ferens, solaras' even wild beasts were all fare game for these creatures.

The creatures were eventually dubbed Kishins by the earthlings. The kishins quickly took the earth by storm. cities fell over night and every civilization was forced fend them off. Everyone retreated their armies back to the homeland to fend off invading kishins. The next twenty years were spent fending off the kishin attacks and building walls around each of the civilizations to keep them out. A truce was made between all of the worlds leaders. This way no one would have to worry about a war breaking out until the kishin threat had been put down perminantly

As time went on, the earthlings made more and more advances in anti Kishin weaponry. The military started training highly skilled hunters and huntresses to fight these kishins. The hunters were the best of the best, Kishin killing experts. Their strength and skill were unmatched by anyone. A single hunter or huntress was as mighty as a whole squad of special ops soldiers and twice as deadly. But this wasn't enough.

Even with the hunters and huntresses protecting the earthling, the kishin's numbers were just to great. The earthlings needed a way to level the playing field. The civilizations all came together and built a massive university. A school for future hunters and huntresses. Officially dubbed Balefire Academy by the world leaders, it would serve as the training ground for new and upcoming hunters. No longer would their teachings, their training be restricted only to those on the military.

Talented youths from around the world gathered at the academy, filled with hopes and dreams of becoming the next hunter or huntress...

It's been 300 years since the school was first formed. Now days there are lots of hunters and huntresses are running about. Some work as mercenaries, some work in the military, other work for questionable people doing questionable work. But now it's your turn. for one reason or another you've come to Balefire to learn how to slay kishins. Maybe you feel the need to protect your loved ones. Maybe you seek revenge, maybe your sense of responsibility called you to duty. Or maybe your just a psychopath looking to gain power. Whatever the case, welcome to Balefire!

Rules

How the world works

I'll have more on the rest of the world soon. for now i'm going to focus on Lodestar city so we can get the application template up. I may add more to the city as well later on but for now I want to get this up so people can make their apps.

It's also worth mentioning that the tech in this world is more advanced than it is in ours. How advanced you may ask? Well if you've ever watched RWBY then use that for reference..If you haven't then it's advanced enough to have mechanized military combat units. giant mechs and attack robots. androids, cyborgs lazers holograms and giant air ships all while keeping a mostly modern setting. To get a better understanding of the worlds setting I highly recommend watching RWBY.

This version of earth is very different from our own. The land masses and and civilizations are all different as is the history. There are three major continents with some smaller land masses here and there. Lets start off with Lodestar city on the continent of Haven. Lodestar is currently one of the largest cities in the world and home to our very own Balefire Academy. The school sits near the cost of the city. It's surrounded mostly by restaurants independent stores. There also other locations such as hotels, arcades, Other poplar attractions in the city include a large clock tower and the local light house

This is a wold where earthlings are all born with an inner power. This power goes by many names. Chi, spirit energy, chakra, but for the sake of this explanation we'll just refer to it as energy. A persons energy allows them to do great things should they manage to master it. Hunters and huntresses use this energy to make their bodies more durable, allowing them to survive gunshots and other potentially fetal wounds while making a quick recovery. However not even a huntress should take on a wound lightly. Each person has a finite amount of energy they can call upon to aid them. After taking enough or too much damage, they will lose their ability to defend and recover from wounds. it's also worth noting that while they can survive ad recover from these wounds, that dose not mean that they are immune to damage, nor will they make a full recovery. It simply means they are very durable.

When a student is learning to use and control their energy. The most important thing for them to master is their own unique ability. There ability could be anything from turning invisible to turning into a giant. Some people have high regeneration, strength or speed for their abilities. The possibilities are endless. Everyone's power is unique in it's own way. That being said it's not impossible for two people to share a similar ability. and on rare occasions there have been two people with the exact same ability.

How the school works

When a new student enters the school, that student is put through the entrance exam to ensure that they are able fighters. Once the student passes they are placed on a team with 3 other students from the same year. A student will be with their team until graduation or until all of them drop out or die.

As a team you will be graded as a team. When you succeed the team succeeds, when you fail the team fails. Furthermore you can not move up a grade or graduate until everyone in your team has reached the level of which they can move on. Because of this, teamwork and cooperation is of the utmost importance. Teams who fail to understand the importance of working together won't last week.
First year students are usually between the ages of 16 and 17 with some exceptions. it's not all to uncommon to see an early or late bloomer

Team mates will usually share a single dormitory with four beds, a living quarters, a kitchen and a bathroom. If the team has a mixture of males and females they will get two separate rooms. If a student is the only male or female member of their team then they will get bunked with other students like them to save room. The dorms themselves are actually more like large apartment complexes meant to house hundreds of peoples.

In addition to dormitories, teams have three shared classes which they are all required to attend. These classes are Tactics, Physical fitness and training, and Aura studies. Tactics teaches different methods techniques for slaying Kishins. Physical training is where you practice fighting as team against other teams or simulated kishin battles. and aura studies is where you learn to master your abilities. These classes are all done in teams to help students better learn and grow with their team.

In addition to the three mandatory classes, there are several other classes one may attend either with or indignant from their team, Such classes include stealth class, medic class, weapon engineering, kisin biology as well as specific classes to teach various diferant combat styles from ranged to up close and personal. While not required, it is recommended for all students to take at least one of the extra classes in order to bring a specialty to the team.

There are also a number of recreational clubs in the school to help students unwind and relax between classes and saving the world.

how the races work

Humans

Appearance: Humans look exactly how you would expect without any animal or plant like qualities

Strengths: Humans strength comes from their ability to build and create, giving them a boost in weapon crafting and maintenance. Because of this humans are also slightly more efficient with firearms.

Biology: Human biology is exactly how you would expect it to be. However hunters and huntresses have superior immune systems and pain tolorance levels. Due to their experience with using aura. Because of this they also age much slower and can thus live longer lives

Ferens

Appearance: Ferens are humanoid creatures with animalistic traits. This can be anythng from having the ears of a rabbit, the tail of a monkey, the eyes of a tiger nand so on. While a feren may have more than one trait, such as an ear and tail combo they will only ever resemble one creature. (no fictional creatures allowed)

Strengths: Ferens usually have one or two traits from the animal they represent and in ther lies their power. for example dogs have a greater snese of smell, cats have great precision and so on.

Biology: Ferens are mostly human in terms of biology but have a few notable differences. One example of this being that their teeth are sharper and they are able to live healthily off of meat or veggies alone (depending on if their animal is carnivore or herbivore) Each type of feren is slightly different so listing all the possibilities would be impossible.

Solaras

Appearance: The Solaras are plant like humanoids. They look mostly human in terms of body structure but have several plant like qualities. some have leaves or flowers growing from their hair, some have vines and moss growing on their bodies and their are a fine number of other traits one can use to identify a solara

Strengths: The Solaras have skin that's closer to plan fibers than it is actual flesh. Because of this, they are more prone to injuries but can heal much quicker. Factor their quick healing in with the natural durability that hunters and huntresses posses and you'll find them to be quite the durable race.

Biology: Unlike humans and ferens the solaras can survive off of sunlight and water alone. While this can sustain them for a long time it is still recommended that they eat normal food to give them a boost in vitality. However it's important for them to eat healthy. A solaras can lose a limb and easily make a full recovery so long as they are given the proper treatment and are given enough time to heal. They are by no means indestructible and although they can heal from most injuries they feel pain just like everyone else. it's also worth mentioning that recovering from a serious injury could take days or weeks depending on how bad it actually is.
