    Fight against fantasy - IC

    Places in Ryglaga (and outside):

    Kaldur:
Country north to Ryglaga. Lot’s of mountains.

    Ormur Mountains:
The northern most part of Ryglaga. Stretches into Kaldur. Said to inhabit many monsters, especially dragons and serpents.

    Ulfur Town:
Town where humans and wolfs and other animals living in the forest live together.

    Skrimsli Lake:
Lake said to inhabit sea monsters if you go deep enough.

    Throngur Town:
A cramped town. Very populated compared to it’s size.

    Endalausir Forest:
Nardur’s biggest forest. Big on the outside, said to be even bigger on the inside. Some people report seeing someone else living there that’s not human. It's one of the places SYSTEM does not have control over. There is a ongoing war between SYSTEM and the inhabitants of the forest.

    Máttur:
Capital of Ryglaga. The only technologyically advanced city left. SYSTEM is based here. Some people report Máttur in fact being two cities, the other one being hidden.

    Graenir Plains:
    Green and prosberous plains.

    Fjalli:

Country east of Ryglaga. Mostly mountains.

    Blómlegt Forest:
A green and thriving forest. Nearly a jungle.

    Myrkur Town:
A dark town where light rarely reaches. The area around it is swampland except towards Ljóst Lake. There is said to live a vampire in the town too, although it only attacks strangers. Myrkur was hit hard by SYSTEM. Most people hate SYSTEM as they have very much control over the town.

    Ljóst Lake:
The lake of light. There is always a light shining from the middle deepest part of the lake. The light is the only light Myrkur town have. It's ssaid that if you remove the light somehow, something extremely bad within the town will happen.

    Látlaus Plains:
A very flat area where you could see to the other side of the plains if you stand on one side.

    Eytimork:
The country west for Ryglaga. Mostly desert and wasteland.

    Hofn Town:
Ryglaga’s main port city. Fairly big in comparisons to the other cities.

    Sjávar Town:
    A secondary port for ryglaga.skógur

    Minor locations:

    Skógur Town:
A town in the middle of Endalausir Forest. If you don't know where the town is before hand you probably won't find it for some time.
The ttown itself is a thriving community of mostly humans and a few elves too. If you have a fire in the town someone may put you in jail because of the dangers of fire.

I’ll add more info to the places as charters get closer to them. If there is anything you want to add ask in OOC.

    Frank's House, Lake Ljost

Frank sat out in his back porch. He drank his tea, looking out into the sky.

    "Ah... what a lovely day..."

He got up and walked over to the nearby lake.

"Phew... alright. Time for my warm-up."

He concentrated hard. He let go of all tensions. Then, he slowly stepped on the lake, freezing a small portion. He took step after step. Every time he stepped off of an ice chunk, it would melt and return to the lake. He walked to a tiny nearby island. There was a hammock and a barrel labeled 'Apple Cider.' He grabbed a nearby glass, filled it with apple cider, and chilled it.

"Nothing says wake up like a nice glass of fresh apple cider. Now then, time for conditioning."

He tried to walk back, though it was harder than last time, for he had to balance the cider as well. But he had safely crossed back to the house.

"Now then... time to go to work."

He went back inside, changed from his robes to his bartender suit, and headed out. He worked at a pub in Myrkur Town. However, he does get challenged by many in an art that Frank specialized in: gambling. He was a dealer in the pub. Many would try to beat him, though very few walked out victorious. Though Frank was generous, so after a game to lift the drunken soul's spirit, he gives him a small glass of rum. He was content with the job given. Though... he wished that he could brighten that small little town.

Skógur town - School of magic 2:30 PM 7 june 2146 (only I post the date, it is there to keep track of time)

Sidna was at her school. In her opinion it was a quite boring school. The same things every day, nothing new. It was the only magic school in a big area that SYSTEM did not have control over tough so it was her only option.
The lessons consisted mostly of doing normal things easier with magic. Not the stuff she wanted to do, like learning to fight back against SYSTEM. The Endalausir forest was one of the only safe havens from SYSTEM. That wouldn't last forever tough. That was the reason why she wanted to learn to fight. Ton protect the forest.

When school was over she would begin her real training. She would fight against other people that had the same thoughts and opinions as her. She would normally win a fight if it was just one opponent, but if there was like four at the same time she would have it ore difficult winning. It was natural for a void mage. You can't win alone, you just can't.

        Western edge of Blómlegt Forest

Wen Xuan got up and started shaking the stiffness out of his limbs by doing first stretching exercises, then shooting 12 arrows at a nearby tree to warm up his arms. He had been traveling most of the night following a river east from Máttur. He had just slept away most of the morning and he now contemplated the dense forest that looked more like a jungle to him.

He did not really feel like trekking through the thick undergrowth and risk getting lost due to being unable to spot the sun through the dense canopy. He set down his bow carefully so that it balanced on the bottom limb and the end of the stabiliser, then he took out some protein bars from his bag and ate a late lunch. " You think I should try going through the forest, Madge? or should I try fording the river here and go the other way?" He threw half an protein bar at the falcon perched next to him as he asked her, his magic allowed her to understand him, he did not really have to speak allowed as the magic allowed his meaning to be sent to her, it was just a habit. She caught in and after swallowing it, started a series of caws and foot tapping. She had been flying around earlier and had a clearer idea of the land. Her method of communication was not as precise as humans'. She did not have much of a language, just a series of signals that she was born with in her genetic code.

But He had long since gotten use to this and manage to understand her response fast enough. "Towards the west, there is a big lake which seemed to glow and there was a stream of smoke rising from the treetops in the distance in the same direction." Smoke would mean a settlement and he needed some food, he didn't know how he would get it but he would cross that bridge once he reached it. First there was the problem of the density of the forest, his bow could still be of some use in there, the problem was him. He had trained in open fields in Máttur and doubted that he could shoot at targets flitting around and behind trees which were everywhere. So he disassembled his bow and kept the riser, limbs and other equipment into his bag. He only kept out his stabilizer ( about a meter long, diameter is about 3cm: http://www.dragonarchery.com/images/...O_20120325.JPG ), it was weighted at one end and would make do as a club.

He stepped up to the treeline and started broadcasting with his magic in a request for help and the promise of food as payment, first telling Madge to fly off first so that she did not scare off any smaller animals. Before long, a squirrel peeked out of a tree curiously. Wen Xuan immediately stopped broadcasting and instead concentrated on coaxing the timid creature forward with his magic and also one of the protein bars. Once the squirrel had come forward and eaten the nutty energy bar, he then told it that he wanted a guide to the cluster of "strange not-tree structures" towards the west. The squirreled agreed provided he was given another of those "nut-bar things" but signaled that it would not go too close to the village because apparently animals that got too close were often never seen again.

Wen Xuan shrugged, ' it was probably just hunters he thought', he signaled for the squirrel to lead the way. Once the squirrel scampered into the treeline and squatted there waiting for him, he shrugged on the bag and picked up his stabilizer. He only paused briefly on the edge of forest as a vaugue memory swan to the surface of his mind " something about a dangerous creature that attacked strangers and something related to blood" He just shook off the memory and started following the squirrel.

" that was quite a while ago, and I have creature magic, the creature shouldn't disturb me..."

          Azeruk's House - Endalausir Forest - 10:00 AM

Azeruk opened his eyes as the sun's golden rays shined through his window and onto his face. At first, the rays blinded him, so he absorbed the light and dimmed the rays. Azeruk sat up and outstretched his arms for a waking stretch, first horizontally, then vertically. Azeruk then Yawned as he finished the stretch and looked at his clock.

(Ten o'clock, on the dot.), Azeruk thought as he looked at the ticking clock on his nightstand.

Azeruk pulled the blankets off of himself, got out of bed, and began his morning routine. First up was breakfast. After rummaging through the large ice-box freezer in the basement, Azeruk finally found what he had been looking for. Azeruk took the frozen bacon, closed the freezer, and walked up the stairs leading to the kitchen. After finding a cast-iron skillet, Azeruk then began to cook his morning meal. Azeruk's morning routine was relatively normal. He ate breakfast, he took a morning shower, he brushed his teeth,... only his routine had a slight alteration to it. Instead of cooking his frozen bacon on the stove like a normal person would do, Azeruk used lasers. Instead of scrubbing to remove filth in the shower, Azeruk would expel a high intensity wave of light energy from his body, obliterating anything that wasn't a part of him. Instead of using a toothbrush, Azeruk used lasers to disintegrate the bacteria. Azeruk hovered his hand over the bacon filled skillet and fired a low intensity, high temperature beam of light down into the skillet, quickly thawing out the bacon and causing it to sizzle. The steam from the ice billowed up as the temperature dramatically changed. Within a matter of minutes, Jason's breakfast was ready and he began to eat.

Once Azeruk finished eating, he then jumped into the shower. Many people were restricted to baths, but Azeruk's parents were very smart. They had created a way to take water from the well outside and use a piping system to expel it from above the tub. By Máttur's standards, it was very crude for a shower, but for the rest of the world, it was the cutting-edge of technology. Azeruk stripped down, hopped into the tub, and turned on the water. Thanks to the house's boiler room, the water came out as a warm, miniature cascade. Once Azeruk was properly drenched in water, he then proceeded to clean himself. Using his power over light, Azeruk expelled what could only be described as a wave of light energy, causing everything on his skin to burn and wash away. Once Azeruk was finished, he then turned off the water, stepped out, and wrapped himself up in a towel.

After bathing came the next step in his routine, brushing his teeth. For this, Azeruk simply filled his mouth up with water and expelled light energy out of his teeth, gums, and tongue. After a minute of expelling energy, Azeruk then spit into the sink and washed it away. After rinsing out his mouth, Azeruk the got dressed.

Azeruk walked over to his room, opened his dresser, and quickly covered himself up in his usual attire. This was the only part of his morning routine that would be considered normal; no lasers, no high intensity energy waves, just clothing. His shirt was a black sleeveless leather shirt with a front that was heavily reinforced with a flexible, yet very tough layer of leather. His pants were similar, only that they were made of a leather that was very flexible, but tough leather. They were black and had many large pockets on them. They loosely fit Azeruk, but that was why he wore a belt. Once that was finished, Azeruk quickly put some socks on and put on the metal boots he had found in the forest. The metal boots were quite strange, due to the fact that they were made of a metal that was tougher than even the finest steel, yet only half the weight. Azeruk found these boots in the forest, in the possession of a dead knight. Perhaps knight wasn't the most accurate term, but Azeruk didn't know what else to call the fallen soldier. The soldier was clad in sleek metal-plated armor, so he had to be a knight of some kind.

Soon after getting dressed, Azeruk grabbed his two foldable combat knives and looked at them. He then looked at the strange crossbow in the corner of the room. They were originally on the knight's possession, but they were no longer of use to the fallen soldier. The only reason Azeruk took them was because they were so unique. The knives were black and folded in half, something that no other knife could do. The knight's crossbow made loud bangs and fired tiny metal spikes. From what Azeruk deduced, the crossbow used gunpowder to propel the metal spikes. He hadn't taken the weapon apart yet, but he was curious about it's design.

(Bah, can't be sitting here all day and staring at that weapon.), Azeruk thought as he shook his head.

Azeruk walked over to his closet, put on his utility harness and throwing spike wrist straps, and grabbed the item he needed to deliver for today. It was a finely crafted compound bow. One of the rangers in Skógur broke theirs when they were fighting bandits outside the forest and placed an order for a new one.

After going through his mental checklist for his morning routine, Azeruk nodded and walked out the door.

          Outside Azeruk's House - Endalausir Forest - 12:30 PM

Azeruk was about to leave until a thought struck his mind and caused him to stop in his tracks.

(I still have yet to test the bow and fine-tune it. I should probably get to it.)

Azeruk turned towards the practice range and walked forward. Once there, Azeruk grabbed some arrows off of a nearby workbench and started the test. First, Azeruk tested the range of the bow. Something he was always took pride in was the fact that he would test the items beforehand and give the parameters of the items to the buyers. Besides, his customers seemed to like the fact that Azeruk was so meticulous with the items. They wanted finely tuned and thoroughly tested items, ones that were reliable and durable. Azeruk fired thirty arrows downrange and calculated the range. After that, Azeruk pulled out some dummies and set them up for strength testing.

Azeruk aimed at the first wooden dummy and fired. In a split second, the arrow planted itself deep within the dummy's torso, so deep that Azeruk had a hard time pulling it out. The second dummy had leather armor on it. Azeruk fired ten arrows, each planting themselves deep within the dummy and ignoring the leather. He then moved on to the third dummy. This time, the dummy had reinforced leather, the kind that was heavy and thick. Despite the toughness of the armor, it still couldn't protect the dummy from the arrow volley. Azeruk then moved on the fourth dummy. This one wore an iron chestplate. Azeruk brought the bowstring back, then released. The arrow pierced the metal armor and planted itself within the dummy. Just to be sure that it wasn't a fluke, Azeruk fired nine more arrows at the dummy. Each arrow ripped through the iron armor and planted themselves deep within the dummy's torso.

(Wow! This bow is nice. I just might go with this design more often.), Jason thought as he looked at the bow and nodded in approval.

Next was the dummy with thick, heavy, iron armor. Jason fired an arrow from the bow, but the arrow slammed into the chestplate, dented and scratched the armor, and bounced off. Jason fired three more arrows, but was given the same result.

(Okay, 105 feet before the arrow starts dropping and has enough force to punch through thin iron.), Azeruk thought as he stopped the testing.

The entire test took around 2 hours; one for testing the range, and one for testing it's ability to penetrate armor. Overall, Azeruk was satisfied with the result.

(Well, I'd better deliver the bow. It wouldn't be very responsible of me if I was late with a delivery.), Azeruk thought as he smirked and looked towards the deeper section of the forest.

Azeruk put the bow onto his utility harness and in a flash, dashed forth at the speed of light, straight towards the town of Skógur.

Skógur town - Edge of town 2:45 PM

Sidna was now done training combat for her friends. She had began encountering a problem tough. Well not really a problem, more of a area she could improve in. That area was reaction time. She wanted to be able to make her move the last split second. This way her enemies would have more of a problem reacting to her magic.
Currently she wasn't very good at reaction in time. Her partners could easily see when she was going in for a strike. All that would change now tough.

To solve this issue she had ordered a bow from a blacksmith deeper in the forest. It actually surprised her that someone was able to live that deep into the forest. The town would have times when it was missing certain materials for weeks as going trough the forest was slow and hard work. The blacksmith himself had apparently lost his father some time ago. (Must be hard living by yourself at that age. I wonder how he managed to get trough the loss of his father.)

Currently she was waiting at the edge of the town. It was quite a nice place as she visited her often, wanting to get out of the town and actually start doing something. The only time she had passed trough the forest was when she was brought here by her parents. She couldn't really remember to much from that time tough. She would often imagine herself out there in the open fighting against SYSTEM. Would it be the same when that time actually came? Would she be just as big of a hero in reality as in her dreams? She didn't know, but she hoped so.

As time went on she began wondering where he had gone of to. (He should have been her half an hour ago. What's taking him so long?) . She removed what foliage that was in her way of sight and looked around if she could see him. After some looking she finally saw something moving in the distance. (Finally, took him some time I must say).

Skógur town - Edge of town 2:45 PM

Within a single instant, Azeruk appeared right next to the bow's intended recipient. He was a little bit surprised that she was there, but then again, he was running late. Azeruk shook his head and spoke.

"I'm sorry for being late. I was doing some last minute testing and I think you'll like what you'll get.", Azeruk said as he pulled out the bow and handed it to Sidna.

The bow was a combination of dark wood for the main bodyand a bright, silvery metal for the top and bottom limbs of the bow. The string spanned across the bow several times and was nested onto wheels on the top and bottom limbs. It looked as if it was a complicated weapon, but it was still the same as your average bow, only this particular bow was capable of much more. As Jason handed the bow to Sidna, he began to tell her the weapon's parameters.

"Okay, after some extensive testing, I've recorded the bow's range and power. The bow will fire up to 105 feet before the arrow starts dropping, so you just need to aim right at the target, unless you're very far away. As for the bow's ability to pierce, it can punch through thin iron armor as if it were paper. I tried it on some thicker iron plating, but it would only dent the metal, so you would have to keep hitting the same area to pierce it.", Jason said to Sidna.

After handing her the bow the blacksmith began telling her the bows parameters. It was a impressive bow with all means, however she a few tricks up her sleeve that would make it even more deadly. "I guessing I can make the arrows fly even further without droping. As for armor, I doubt it will be a problem at all, be they wearing silk armor or diamond."

Sidna then did something that would look very wierd if you didn't know what type of magic Sidna used. She meked her aim at a tree that at the angle she was shooting at was blocked by another tree. She then began shooting as she released the arrows she tried to remove the part of the tree that was blocking the path of he arrows. It too several tries but, after her 5 arrow she did it. The other arrows simply fell on the ground when she was to late removing the tree.

"Say why won't me and you have a duel? I promise I wont be going all out on you. Come on it will be fun."

Azuruk paused for a moment as he thought about it. Last Azeruk remembered, the girl was a student at that school of magic. She would be a tough opponent, that much was true, but while Sidna had experience in school, Azeruk had hands-on experience. Despite Azeruk's age, he was very experienced with his magic and often used it against the bandits that tried to kill him every once in a while. There was also the matter of the girl's magic. She was known by some of the villagers as "that girl with the void magic". The name didn't have a negative connotation behind it, it was just that it was what stood out the most about her. Void magic was exceedingly rare, so rare that seeing someone using the magic was considered a once in a lifetime experience.

Azeruk then began to size Sidna up, trying to come up with a sort strengths vs weaknesses kind of plan.

(Okay. She comes from a school of magic and has learned from teachers, I taught myself. She has experience in dueling, I have experience in killing, so I'll need to be gentle. My physical state is better than hers, due to me constantly working in the forge and gathering materials. Of course, there's no telling what that school of magic has taught her. For all I know, she could be a high-class magic user. I've fought a bandit that was one and defeated him, but it was a close fight. Heh, maybe I should have taken that teacher's offer to be in the school of magic. It would help at a time like this, even if it was to know my opponent better. Either way, I just have to be wary of her void magic. If I do that, then I should be fine for the most part.)

Finally, Azeruk looked back at Sidna and gave his answer.

"Okay, but first we need to find a good place to duel. The outskirts of the town is probably not the bast place to be doing it. We might get some of the villagers mad.", Azeruk said to Sidna with a smile as he thought of being chased out of Skógur by an angry mob.

"Sounds good to me and I know just the place. Just follow me" She then started walking towards her school again. At first thought it might seem weird to hold a duel near a school, but when you considered that it was near the school that she held most of her fights. For the one around the it would be just normal. If you actually looked at the area there wasn't to many damages around the place as she always removed everything going out of the arena. The reason for this was that one time a fireball exploded towards the school wall. Everything went fine, but Sidna and the others was scolded heavily.

While walking she considered how she would set up the fight. The way she did it with her friends was that if they could keep her from doing a lockdown for a certain amount of time they would win. (Should I do that with him tough? He doesn't even know what a lockdown is I assume. I think I'm just going to have a normal fight with him and do a lockdown when I feel like it)

After some time they arrived at the arena. "Alright, this is the place. Are you ready? I'll judge how good you are by how long you can survive"

Azeruk around the area. It really wasn't what he had in mind, but he wasn't complaining. Besides, they were next to the school and they had plenty of mach battles, right? Either way, Azeruk was curious about the school and the knowledge of the student he was about to duel. He remembered how one of the teacher here offered to take him in and train him, but Azeruk proffered to be alone. It wasn't because Azeruk was a loner by nature, it was simply that he just wanted to be alone and work at his family's forge.

Azeruk turned his head over to Sidna and replied to her words.

"Don't worry about me. Just because I didn't go to a magic school, doesn't mean I'm weak with magic.", Azeruk playfully remarked as he walked over to the other side of the arena.

Azeruk then stood there, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. To some, Azeruk's actions might have been mistaken as him being nervous, but it was quite the contrary. Azeruk was calming his mind and charging up his magic for the battle. As Azeruk slowly exhaled, an aura of light could be seen forming around him. It wasn't big or incredibly powerful, but it did show that he was ready for battle.

(Remember Azeruk, this is not a battle against bandits. DO NOT use anything that can injure or kill her.), Jason thought as he opened his eyes and nodded at Sidna, showing that he was ready to duel.

"Remember that this nis no combat school. We are not taught things like that here. Fighting we have to learn ourself". As she said that she laid the bow right outside of the Arena. For now it was only for training. She didn't grab any other weapons either as she only intended to play with him for a little bit.

As he got ready Sidna began forming a plan. For this battle she mostly wanted to show how universal void magic was and how raw it was if she managed to. She would first play with the light hitting the arena, and because of that he was a light mage hw would just make it easier for her to accumulate light. She just had to be careful so he wouldn't get her before she did the lockdown.

As he nodded that he was ready she made her first move. She removed time in random pockets of air around the arena. This caused everything, including light, going into it to freeze. When she would release the area all the light would go out all at once and blind the opponent while she simply removed the light going towards her. If you looked at the areas while they were still frozen you would just see a black hole there instead.

At the same time that she removed time from some areas she also removed herself from the lights path so it would pass right trough her making her invisible. She wasn't stupid tough she began moving around the arena, removing any traces that could be used to track her and find her position.

Azeruk saw something quite strange about the voids around him. The most obvious one was the fact that they were giant black holes, only that they didn't suck anything up like a vaccum. Azeruk looked for the girl, but saw that she wasn't there. Azeruk heard many things about void magic, and this was one of them.

(The removal of time... Not only that, but she seems to have turned invisible. Two can play at that game.), Azeruk thought to himself as he started using his magic.

Azeruk suppressed his aura and bent the light around him. Azeruk had done this many times before, so many times that this was one of his easiest spells, and one that he was very proficient at. The light passed around Azeruk, causing a faint distortion in the air. The only way to see Azeruk would have been to be right up against him. Once that was done, Azeruk moved around the arena, being careful not to bump into any of the "black holes". As Azeruk walked along, he would create a light clone of himself being invisible by stopping the light and freezing it in place. This would give Azeruk the opportunity to attack the student when she chose to strike.

Now, it was just a game of hide-and-seek.

There I was in the pub. It was rather noisy. Just like it always is. The men are talking to eachother cheerfully in a strong voice and the women are laughing at eachother's jokes. Sounds crazy, but this is the most peaceful place in town. That's because I put a special additive n the drinks. Now, not only are they drunk, but the additive makes them happier. It does me good to see such cheerful faces.

"Aye, Frankie! Come on! Whaddya say?!"

I turn to a man that regularly comes around.

"... Ah, now I get it. I'll set up the table then."

The people are hooting and hollering and for one reason only.

It was time to play a custom Myrkur Bar card game called Horah. The cards were set.

"Who knows, Frank. I might just beat ya this time!"

                            The game begins.

Just as expected he turned invisible shortly after. Now she just had to capture him. The first step would be to know about where he was. She couldn't find his location on the ground and she couldn't cover the whole ground at once as she either as that could be dangerous. The safest way would be to get him somewhere she knew where was. The first step to this was removing a bit off dirt under the ground in the middle allowing the piece of dirt and grass to be moved around freely. The next step was to remove all the gravity in the arena, except right around herself. If this was where he was hiding she would be able to see him anyway and he would have to be extremely lucky to stand in just the right spot.

When the gravity disappeared all lose things, including Azeruk and the piece of dirt would fly up. When she felt that she had him at a nice height she rapidly removed and allowed the gravity to coma back, suspending him in the air. Nect she wanted to scare him a little, she removed time all around the area where he could be. He wouldn't be able to see a thing inside that bubble, and just as a last touch she created random holes of vacuum around the area that was immediately filled up again. The resault would be something along a popping sound.
