    Sinnoh Region - Route 207

"Did you know that sound-based moves are more strongly affected when the target is closer?" Jeremy nervously smiled, he had something up his sleeves. "Whirlipede, Screech!"

The centipede let out a horrible sound of pain that split Koishi's, and definitely Wiggly's eardrums.

Koishi was fine with the sound, as the sound of danmaku occasionally got far louder than the screech. Wiggly, in a desperate move, contricted the Whirlipede hard, pulling it in up to the Omanyte, then, to dull the pain of the noise, gave a big Bite into the Whirlipede, channeling all of it's pain onto the force of the Bite.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

"600 'Pokedollars' sounds like a lot to me," Sherry mumbled under her breath once the waitress went away.

It was true. Back in America, Sherry could get herself a nice meal for under 10 US dollars. A bit of coffee would cost a couple dollars more, but it was worth it. Even in other countries the price for a meal never got into the hundreds range. She hoped this cafe was worth it, because if it wasn't for Yuuka sitting in front of her eyeing her moves, she would have up and found something more reasonable. However, this was the way this new world works.

Either keep up or get out of the way, Sherry thought to herself. She looked out to the street for a moment in wonder before sighing.

"I guess when you look dependable, there's no shortage of work for you," she said, more to herself than anyone else. "Why is it that there's always gotta be some group trying to ruin it for everyone else? I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like Raccoon City all over again." The agent hesitated and berated herself for not choosing her words carefully. She looked back at Yuuka. "Remember, we have to look for Mr. Briney's flag, but on top of that, there's that injured trainer's Slakoth to find as well."

"Whirlipede!" Jeremy grimaced as the Whirlipede couldn't take it anymore and fainted.

          Wiggly grew to Lv: 9!

"This is my final straw!" Jeremy sent out the last Pokeball, which contained a green mantis-like Pokemon with menacing eyes and sharp bladez that could easily cut through humans and Pokemon alike.

          Scyther Lv: 8

Thankfully for Sherry, Yuuka was too busy enjoying a spanish guitar performance to ntocie Sherry's soliloquy.

"Huh? Yeah, sure." Yuuka nodded half-heartedly as she fondled an empty Pokeball. "Tell me, don't you find the Pokeball technology to be fascinating?

"Wiggly, come and rest." Koishi said, retracting Wiggly into the pokeball.

"Snow, you feeling better?" Koishi asked. Snow nodded, and hopped out onto the battlefield.

"Double Team!" Koishi said, several clones being formed, scattered around the battlefield.

"Your clone work is not going to work on my Scyther!" Jeremy triumphantly shouted. "Aerial Ace!"

Scyther's speed increased to the point that he was just a green speck of light. His slice ignored all clones and struck the actual target: Snow, with such speed and force that Snow was sent flying back.

The force did blow Snow back quite hard, knocking her against a rock. She braced himself one last time, just a little more time was what she needed. She knew the Scyther's typing on instinct, and fired out a Powder SNow with her last bit of strength left in her.

Sherry made a face at Yuuka's obliviousness, but in the end, she could not complain. The woman did not pick up on anything that she said, so all was well. To make sure that she got off scot-free, Sherry thought about the woman's question: pokeballs. She wasn't sure about the technology that went into them, but she imagined it wasn't very different from a personal data storage device.

"Pokeball tech is... I don't think I've seen it before. It's like they keep the pokemon in some sort of stasis, or something..."

"That's it, Scyther! Finish off with a quuck attack-" Jeremy said, but neither he nor the Scyther was able to continue. Snow's snowy wind took ahold of their will to fight. The Scyther tried to fight back, but the wind took hold of his wings and he could not attack fast enough to strike Snow before she could create clones with Double Team and escape.

"Maybe they shrink them down?" Yuuka hypothesized as a young boy with red hat marked with the Pokecenter symbol approached them. On his two hands were two plastic plates holding Pokeballs: presumably the Pokeballs with Yuuka's and Sherry's Pokeballs.

"Your Pokemon are completely healed." The boy announced, presenting the slabs holding their Pokeballs.

"Thanks." Yuuka grinned and took the Pokeballs from the plates. The boy bowed and returned to the center.

"Well. That was exhilarating." Koishi said in a joyous tone of voice.

"That was a complete and utter defeat..." Jeremy shuddered as he brought his injured Scyther back in. "Dammit, you just wait! I'll shape up my bug Pokemon and one day I'll defeat you! Mark my words!"

Jeremy tossed a few Pokedollar coins at Koishi and ran back to town.

                        Koishi earned 1000 Pokedollars!

"Alright, I'm up first!" Crystal happily sent out her Cyndaquil. The opponent, a boy with red hair, sent out a small shrew Pokemon that had thick sandy carapace on his back.

                            Sandshrew Lv: 6

"Cyndaquil, use Tackle!" Crystal ordered, and the Cyndaquil followed suit, slamming her entire body towards the Sandshrew. However, it seemed as if not a lot of damage was dealt to the shrew as the shrew curled himself into a ball.

"Defense Curl will cause my Sandshrew to be a lot more defensive. You can't land a scratch on my Pokemon!"

"Ah, this is going bad." Crystal grimaced. "But you can't know for sure until you try! Cyndaquil, Tackle again!"

                            "I... I give up."

Crystal was on her knees after 10 minutes of repeated Tackle and Defense Curl until Cyndaquil took more damage than she could deal. Exhausted and full of scars, Cyndaquil was sent back to Crystal's Pokeball.

"Haha, looks like you were all talk!" The boys laughed. "Who's up next?"

Lyrica stood by, watching. "Defense Curl...What do I have that can counter that..." she muttered to herself, barely audible to anyone. "I would have to use Diggy...but then..." She shook her head. "I'm pulling blanks... I don't have the diversity I need..."

Now that John's pokemon were fully healed, he began his search for Renamon and Diana once again. He continued to walk the streets, hoping to find them either wandering the city, or coming back to the pokemon center.

(Where are they?), John thought to himself, becoming slightly impatient.
