    Cavern | Outside Kris's Outpost

"What the f*ck!? Why's she pissed!? What did I do!?", Jason asked Kris as he raised his hands near his shoulders and shrugged as he tried to make sense of what just happened.

Jason wasn't necessarily afraid of Seki's death-threats, he was just very, very confused. The only thing he had to fear was her "Chainsaw-sama. He could easily handle the fire by slowing down the fire's molecules, but a chainsaw was different. Even if he stopped the chain, it would still cut him.

      Kris's Outpost - 9:40 AM

Phenom had joined the others, now fully clothed and free of the gore that had covered him earlier. He had already began eating his share of fish when he heard Seki's order for Jason to train. He closed his eyes and shook his head as he chewed. It was clear she was going to put him through hell... literally. However, this was an excellent chance to learn Kris's own story.

"Hey, you two. If you're going to do some training, do it somewhere else, huh? We don't need this place burned down..."

Seeing as how he would most likely have to resolve this by fighting Seki, Jason cut up his fish with his knives and ate the pieces. After eating the fish, Jason washed his knives in a nearby pool of water and walked over to his armor. Jason put his knives away, sat down, and quickly began to destabilize the grime on the chestplate. The grime soon crumbled away, revealing the silvery shine of the metal underneath. Once Jason finished cleaning the armor, he then inspected it for scratches and damage. The armor may have been virtually indestructible to weapons in Aeterna, but it was still a habit for him to maintain the armor. After finding not even the tiniest scratch or blemish, Jason took off his utility harness, put the 100 pound chestplate on, and put the harness on top of that.

Jason finished tightening the harness and began to walk over to Seki's location. Jason was still confused by her anger, but he intended to find out.

After a long while, Jason entered Seki's vicinity.

"Okay, why are you mad? I want to know if I did something, or if you just are for no reason.", Jason said to Seki in a calm, but slightly impatient tone.

          Kris's Outpost - 9:41 AM

Phenom sighed in relief, glad to be rid of those two for a moment.

"It'd be a wonder if I could understand a thing that went through that kid's mind..." Phenom said to Kris, "Anyway, now that they're out there, why don't you tell me a bit about yourself? I figure if I'm going to be fighting with you guys, I may as well know your stories. Oh, and your name. I don't think I ever caught it. Mine's Phenom, if I didn't mention it already. Phenom Ortus."

            Kris's Outpost

The huntress heard the little introdiction of the rebel "My name is Kris, no last name since I have memory, been living by my own in Aetherna as a huntress in the wilderness and searching for glitches and errors in the land, I lost most, if not all the people I knew when the popularity of this virtual world started, they enjoyed it too much by becoming thieves and soldiers and related stuff, me? I enjoyed the wonders of the many landscapes, curiously I found a plaque with the developers of the HiveNET and many other oddities as my telescope over there" she pointed towards the telescopeīs tube on her backpack

"After the empire event, things got more advantageous for me, since I already have survival experience and hiding spots, I managed to live ok for a good time, the empire has its flaws, but I have also seen the rebels do their dirty stuff, donīt take me wrong, there are always scavengers and people who join groups only to murder." Kris said and then looked at the window

"I managed to sent a mesage to the outside world, it was a short one, but I could atleast tell someone I trust that if someone here died, he or she would be in a state of stasis until the real body could wake up, and gladly, time here is normal like outside. If you are wondering how I could send the message, I went to the very edges of Aetherna and on top of a mountain was a temple with scrapped off items, one of them was a comunicator, but the moment I send the message, it got crumbled into dust"

Kris then looked at Phenom "I have traveled through most of these lands, and have seen both sides of the coin, and have had enough experience to know that this war will have no winner, just a longer surviving group. That is why im searching for places no one has ever gone in this world, to find anything that can let us open to our real life" she finished holding her pendant tightly

              Kris's outpost - 9:43 AM

"I see..." Phenom said as he listened to Kris's story. It was far different from Jason's and his own. But how did she know the physical body didnt die with the virtual one? Had she been killed before? Did she know someone who had been killed before Tyruss took power? There were too many things to consider. And just how far did she have to go to reach this temple she spoke of? Aeterna is supposed to be endless after all...

"You're not like Jason and I... you're just in the middle of a conflict you wanted nothing to do with... I can respect that, but it will come to a point where you have no choice in the matter. Given your cooperation with me, i wouldnt be surprised if you were already wanted by the legion... I apologize in advance if I dragged you into this against your will."

When he finished his reaction to Kris's story he told her the same story he told Jason back in the springs.

                Cavern | Outside Kris's Outpost

When Jason reached her, Seki had her back turned and her arms crossed as she seemed to give him the “cold shoulder”. After hearing his voice Seki’s only reaction was to lift her left arm and snap her fingers. By doing so she caused a miner explosion near where her sword had been placed in stone. The tiny explosion would simply free the blade from the earth while a second yet slightly larger explosion launched the sword out towards Jason and Seki. It seemed Seki would cause explosions that were small enough to put all their energy into a single direction and thus only affect her sword rather than the things or people around it. It also demonstrated just how far her rang of magic was. But anyone who could carve a sigil over an entire mineshaft had to have a long rang. When the blade was near, Seki cought it by the handle and propped it up on her left shoulder, all without ever turning around or even looking behind her. Seki was clearly very comfortable on the battlefield, possibly even more so than she was anywhere else.

“… It’s time to start your training.” Was the only thing she said before she finally turned around to face Jason. With her rigt hand reaching out towards him. There was a flame coming from her right hand now that cast an intimidating shadow upon the girl’s face. She had seen it before at the titanium mines. Jasons range was no more than about two meters. Prehaps he could slow her flames but not until they were within an arm’s length. The difference between Seki’s range and Jason’s rang was probably her greatest advantage against him. If not then it was her experience. “Outside the sun is about to rise. I can feel the heat of the sun outside fueling the fire inside of me. If you survive until the sun completely leaves the sky, then you’ll be able to fight along side me as my equal. If not.. Well then I’ll finally have that pretty little head of yours…. Now then… bow down… to Chainsaw-sama.”

(I wrote this under the assumption that Kilel had not unnrefed Jason’s powers by limiting them to 2 meters. If this was a mistake then I’ll repost it.)

Jason shook his head as he accepted his fate.

"So I take it that you're mad for no reason? There's got to be one.", Jason said as he pulled out his knives.

Jason flicked the Blades open and prepared himself for battle.

(Okay, from what I've gathered, she is unorthodox in her fighting style. Be ready for anything. You can easily negate her fire, but watch the Chainsaw. I'm actually kind of glad that I didn't give her a Titanium Alloy chain. My armor will protect my vital organs from the fireballs and chainsaw, but it won't protect my limbs, so I still have to use caution.)

Jason cracked his neck to the left, then to the right.

"Well you're not going to get my head that easily. You're going to have to work for it.", Jason playfully said with a hint of defiance, completely ignoring the fact that this was a life-or-death situation.

Perhaps it was because Jason knew that he wouldn't actually die in real life, but there was a chance that he was already dead and that he was nothing but numbers now. Perhaps it was because through out these past three days, all the death and blood around him was starting to numb him towards the fear of death. Perhaps he was starting to adapt to the shock of death.

Seki released her blades handle and let it fall forward for only a moment before she grabbed hold of the chain and gave it a simple flick of her wrist. This caused the blade to flip around her hand and extend which caused the chainsaw part of the blade to start up in a roar of power. Seki spun the blade rapidly from its chain a few times before the chain would extent even further than before. One foot, two feet, three feet, four five? It didn’t seem to end. The blade had shot itself into the ground and was swimming through the soil like water towards Jason. All Seki would need to do was flick her wrist upwards to cut through him unless he either moved or blocked the attack. However this was little more than a Decoy. The moment Jason got fixed on her Blade Seki would have shot multiple high speed fire balls towards Jason’s body. Each of the flaming projectiles being about a foot in diameter. This was one of many tricks Seki used to confuse the logical mind.

Jason saw the chain as it got closer and closer as it ripped through the ground and towards him.

Using his speed magic, Jason sped up his neural impulses, giving him the ability to see the world in bullet time. The world slowed down for him, allowing him to think up of a way to dodge the attack.

(If I jump up to avoid the attack, I'll be exposed to attack and won't be able to defend until I land. Strafing would be the best option.)

Once he reached a final decision, Jason used his speed magic and sprinted off at 300 mph, towards Seki's flank. He then readied his knives and readied himself to charge straight at Seki. Jason was going to put as much effort as possible into defeating her, but unlike Seki, Jason wasn't going to kill her.

Kris was looking at Phenomīs reaction about her story and she took out her telescope to check its status "You are wondering about how I know this stuff arenīt you? About how if Aetherna is endless, someone found an edge, heh.. I should ask for a refund since those guys didnīt make this world completely player proof" she chuckled while cleaning the lens of her device

"There are indeed things on the supposed unreachable areas like creatures that only live to kill or instant death traps on hidden on plain sight, it wasnīt easy to cross through them, but I managed to do it in one piece" the huntress exposed her right arm as it had scars of slashes and burnings from both animal, human and mechanical causes.

"One of the closest edges is in one of the highest mountains in Aetherna, those frost trolls were really welcoming with their sharp claws, but hey, I found a small castle with quite a good stash, there I got this girl and her brothers" Kris said gesturing her bow, sword and dagger

Hearing phenomīs story made her think more of the rebel guy and she got to be sad about the girl, yet she felt he had something else hidden "I can see you have great feelings for your sister, guilt for failing to protect the ones you care for is a great emotion that stabs your heart, but I also can see that you feel great hatred against Tyrus, that is when I have to ask you if you really want to stop this empire as a person who wants to save his sister or as a person who wants revenge" she said looking at him

One thing that separated Seki from Jason’s fallen victims was her natural lightning quick reflexes. They were not beyond human possibilities so in the end she was not match for Jason’s speed. However she was still able to cast her magic quickly enough to potentially kill him. Seeing Jason now charge towards her, Seki quickly put a wall of fire between them The wall of fire made a perfect five foot radius circle around Seki’s body protecting her from Melee attacks and hiding her from both eyes and ears thanks to the loud roar of the flames. This one cylinder of fire suddenly split off into 4 of equal size, and those 4 each splint four others off forming a total of 20 cylinder’s. They all scattered about around Jason each one trying to burn him. Meanwhile Jason would never know which one was hiding Seki or where she was, Seki however could follow Jason’s sent to find him..

Jason darted his head around his flanks and he turned to his rear, trying to visually cover all of his surroundings.

(Damn! Looks like I might have to get creative...), Jason thought to himself as he began to come up with a plan of his own.

(She may have made the battlefield a mess of fire, but luckily for me, I can clean it up.)

Jason then held both of his arms out and swung them out to his front, causing a slight disturbance in the air. Jason then increased the speed of the air disturbances and turned them into wind. In stead of a small gust from him normally swinging his arms, a giant burst of wind blew at the fire. The 100 mph winds crashed into the fire cylinders and destabilized their form, causing them to lose their shape and return to their normal chaotic state.

Jason then quickly looked at his front, flanks, and rear for Seki, just in case she was trying to divert his attention with the fire.

Jason’s Wind thing would in fact disrupt the cylinder of flame it came into direct contact with, blowing it out like a candle for a moment. However it had the opposite effect on the flaming cylinders around it actually fanning the flames rather than making them fizzle out. Seki had flames on all sides of Jason but where was she? It would be clear soon enough as Seki and her walls of fire began closing in on the boy in an effort to trap him in a wall of flame.

As the flames got closer to Jason, he then decided to use a different approach.

Jason focused on his sphere of magical influence and caused all of the molecules in it to stop vibrating. This had the side-affect of Jason becoming very cold, but it was worth the cost.
Using his "null field", Jason walked straight into the flames. All the fire entering his null field, the flames sputtered out and allowed him to pass without burning. Knowing that Seki could attack at any moment, Jason decided to put away his knives and use his Chainsword. His knives had less of a chance of blocking Seki's "Chain-sama", but the Chainsword could easily block the other weapon's strike. Jason continued to walk through the flames, but was still wary of his surroundings. He was constantly checking his flanks and rear with his peripherals, ready to counter a surprise attack.
