As a note to everyone that wants to melee creepers, if you have diamond armor, blocking leaves you with at least 5 hearts even with no enchantments at literally point blank range. There is also the option of running, while creepers are faster, you can get away from them by just walking, although sprinting really helps.
Please also remember that diamond armor can be considered late part of early game. It's your first set of real armor. It would be like complaining about something between leather and iron armor in normal minecraft.

So what kinds of armor would be recommended after diamond for creep blasts?

Most other armors after diamond will work well. It kind of depends on what you focus on. For example Nano for IC and Flux for RF. Most of these will protect you from a creeper blast without blocking. (as long as it's not point blank range.)

Evidently I have the modpack but i'm not whitelisted on the server. So yeah, problems. (Also, the creepers and night are ridiculous.)
Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.
