There might be a core crystal that grows somewhere in the body. Like maybe center of the chest near the heart.
Or what I was thinking with Tina, in the shoulder. It might be a random location.
...Or there's a process that just extracts all the Corlaviri in the body... maybe Corlaviri is attracted to other Corlaviri or higher concentrations of Gaia/Aura energy.

So maybe it was extracted from Tina's shoulder but primarily exists near the heart.

    Sounds good to me.

The Harvesters would have to not only remove the crystal from parts of the brain and heart, but the particles within the blood as well.

The brain has very tiny, microscopic crystals that actually interface with the brain/mind.

As for the heart, perhaps there are microscopic, fiberous crystals that grow along the muscle fibers of the heart, causing an Arcain's heart to have a very small glint to it. Sometimes the fibers break and chip, causing them to flow into the blood. Of course, these nanoparticles only serve to give an Arcain's blood somewhat magical properties, as well as giving it the ability to be used similarly to Aura circuitry.

What are your thoughts on this?

    ...perhaps...
That sounds good. In fact It makes me think that there might be something more to it. Perhaps there are those that want the crystals that Arcains are born with...and maybe its a notorious organization...
    Let's call em... Harvesters
So now... Perhaps Harvesters are a part of the gangs in book 1... A part of Wraith or Paladin.
    ...or maybe both...

Tina might have been harvested of her crystal when she was young and survived because of Nyx.

Pretty much. The Arcain crystal might be a subtype of the Corlaviri crystals, but that could work as well.

Basically, this rare sub-type of crystal was placed in the presence of the first Arcains and embedded themselves into their new hosts. These crystals are more like a disease than a crystal in the traditional sense because after they were "infected" and had offspring, traces of the crystal are passed on to the offspring, making them "infected" as well.

    What are your thoughts?

    Crystal subtypes?
...actually that might help explain things like the Three Keys of Heaven's Forge (the swords Mercurius, Arke, and Iris) which are made of Corlaviri but don't exhibit the same properties.
So then creating a classification system would be necessary and defining differences... Pros and cons of the different types...

    So there's normal crystals...
Whatever type Mercurius, Arke, and Iris are made of...
2 types resistant to Inerium (because Mercurius is reforged with it after being broken...)
    The Shards of Starlight
    Arcain Crystals
    Blood Stone
    Keystones

...the classification would represent the properties...
Maybe there's a set of properties and the system dictates what properties and if there's any special variants of those properties?

What's if it's the other way around as well, a symbiosis of sorts? What if the crystals in Arcains are actually a subtype crystal that isn't quite as aggressive as normal crystals and merely embed themselves into a person's body, feeding off of them and giving in return? As you can guess, removing it would be fatal to the host.

    ...that might work.
But then the problem is Arcains. They're born with a corlaviri crystal and require it to live.

Ok, so we know that the crystals cause people to crystallize...

What if that's the crysyal's way of attempting to extract the energy from a person, almost like how an ameoba absorbs things?

Like how the Corlaviri reacts to organics.

Also the article helps... Though makes me think that Corlaviri could be considered vessels of spirit/consciousness.

Also, I found a random page I think you might get inspiration from.

At this point...the properties of Corlaviri.

What we currently have: The crystals react to organic compounds, Blood charges them with Aura energy, Arcains require them to live, it naturally retains Gaia Energy, it can be used as an infinite energy source.

What I'm trying to be careful about is properties that conflict with other properties.

I suppose that could work. What else do we have to cover?

    ehhhhh

origins I'm going to leave off for now. differences and views... is going to be tough.
We know they have to be competing factions... It might be like TF2 where it started out as two greedy brothers going after power in the city and just escalated from there. They started recruiting people and they slowly gained influence in the city. Now the one brother might be the vigilante type, hence Paladin. The other might be trying to manipulate things in the background, hence Wraith. They're similar but... slightly different. Paladin might have become extremely corrupted overtime, so did Wraith but not as obvious perhaps...

Nono, I get it. It adds a little more to the story and helps drive some of the plot. I think what we should look at now is their origins, their differences, and views.

    Probably not that "pure"
from what I'm understanding, If I said Wraith and Paladin were two gangs, that might explain inner and outer circles of Dual City. It could be two territories of the gangs. Wraith might be Outer Circle while Paladin is inner circle. That could also explain why it might be a problem that Aion doesn't "listen" to the council all the time. Maybe it's like "One does not simply disobey Paladin." Paladin might hold greater "sway" over the Nobles but Wraith might be trying to work in its own member into the upper ranks. That could be the political side of things...

It's a gang war. Paladin vs Wraith. They're trying to control the city and its resources.
Because the population is mostly Arcain... the members of both would be majority Arcain... but there would be Prometheos.
There could be tatoos or some other insignia to mark members...
It could add in a new depth to things... Maybe Tina was marked for one of the two gangs... could lead into some interesting situations...
...if I knew what the heck I'm actually doing.
...tbh I'm not certain what I'm just now setting up.
