The Expense | Hallman's Office

When the girl's lunch arrived, Lycoris had all bt completely forgotten about what she had heard coming from inside the strange blue box. The smell of the fresh cooked fish was all to inviting and for the moment it consumed her other senses. Once able, Lycoris took her plate and silverware and sat cross legged on the floor. She kept her plate in her lap and happily started consuming the fish her master had gifted her. Hearing her master words, the cat girl's ears flickered and twitched. "Th-thank you sir, it's really tasty. "

The cat girl continued delighting in her meal for a while, until her master had called in yet another genetically modified human to assist him. It didnt' take long for him to respond, Emil was at Hallmen's Office even quicker than Lycoris had been able to respond. Lycoris had stoopped eating the moment Emil entered the room, staring up at him with a small bit of fish on her fork that she held close to her chin. She looked at Emil, almost as if she were asking for permission to continue her dining. When the man nodded at her she simply smiled back at him before returning her attention to the fish she had been enjoying.

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Holodome

Fusenmei simply bowed, she then turned on her heel and led Bardock to the elevator from earlier. She said little more than what was necessary. She was not interested in speaking at this point. Having been up all day working to get the Station in optimal working condition, she was rather exhausted.

"It would be unfortunate if you believed in ghosts..." she muttered, staring at elevator shaft through the glass window. The elevator pinged soon after and the door slid open, revealing the Atrium once more. Fusenmei stepped out without so much as another word, heading towards the dark towers that climbed into Heaven's skyline.

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Guardian Angel Commons

The door to the Commons slid open as Phenom approached it. Beyond the door was a rather futuristic looking common room of sorts. The room was a bright white, angular at every opportunity.

Room Reference

Inside the Room was Lachesis, lying comfortably on a sofa with a book in her hands and a mug of hot chocolate on a small table nearby. Instead of her typical outfit, she now wore an oversized black sweater and a pair of white lounge shorts. Her hair was now let down, long and flowing instead of held up in a pony-tail. She looked up at Phenom and smiled.

"Hey Phen! Glad you could finally join me!" she said happily. She patted the cushions beside her in an effort to get Phenom to join her.

He had seen her in such an outfit countless times, but no matter how often he saw her so casually dressed, Phenom simply could not stop himself from staring. He removed his cloak and kefiyeh scarf, revealing a surprisingly simple outfit: A thin black T-shirt and black combat pants. As he stepped towards the stairs that led down to the level that Lachesis was on, he threw his cloak and scarf over the back of a chair on the upper level.

"So... Bardock's powerful..." Phenom said as he walked down the stairs.

"He seems like he would be. Those readings that the M-Wave picked up from him? They were so strange... So how did his training or whatever go?" Lachesis asked.

Phenom approached the set of cushions beside Lachesis, her eyes tracking his movements. He laid down, his head near Lachesis, on the empty cushions. He placed both hands behind his head and his feet on the raised arm of the sofa. Staring at the ceiling, he spoke.

"Well... He killed a bunch of green guys... then some fat pink alien. And then we sparred. He can track me, barely, through the gusts of wind I create. He threw me into the ground..."

Lachesis's eyes widened in disbelief, "How the hell did he even get a hold of you?"

"Gravity..."

"Oh... right... Your greatest weakness."

"YUP... What're you reading?" Phenom asked.

"Oh, it's just some old romance novel. You wouldn't be interested in it."

"Millions of books for you to read in the Archive, and you go with a romance novel." Phenom said, scoffing slightly.

Lachesis closed the book, and brought the spine down on Phenom's forehead with a solid thud. The impact made Phenom recoil a bit and look up at Lachesis.

"The hell was that for?"

"Like you'd know anything about being romantic in the first place."

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Bryn's ship

"So far the energy in the deice looks.. Minimal? That can't be right" Runa questioned seeing how much energy the Portal gun used to stay active. She was trying to find a way to duplicate the energy source to make at least another pair of gates, but it was such a strange thing to see so little energy usage.

Bryn was also checking the data and looked at the graphs "The device is in a dormant state, but if you activate each gate, look at the readings" she spoke firing both gates around. The redhead looked at the graph and following the line, she noticed two thin perfectly vertical lines in the line graph "That shouldn't be possible" she understood what was happening while walking to one of the gates "This is a wormhole and has both ends at your disposal" she then looked at the bioroid "You are making a rip in space"

"Exactly, this thing has massive energy usage that works at a time so small, that I'm guessing to be atoseconds" at the look of bewilderment from the engineer, she pointed out "This was both hundreds of hours of tests and a second of mere luck, so if this object uses the same energy.. It would do this, just get behind me" she warned.

As both females were in safety and strapped to the wall, Bryn made some tweaking on the portal gun "This is what happens if I let the device active for 5 seconds" she said firing, but instead of a blue sphere like normal, it sent a cylinder that formed the gate, and in those 5 seconds, it sucked some crates and a chair.

After closing the gate, Runa looked at the place, it was like an industrial vacuum passed around "So if it stays active for longer time.. It will become a real black hole" she received a nod from the bioroid who pointed at the computer screen. The engineer only saw the line of next to nothing of energy used to a wall that went higher than the graph's limit, for exactly 5 seconds.

"And now, anyone within a kilometer radius will see that data and have a shock, because a black hole appeared out of nowhere and disappeared" the bioroid spoke knowing the possible reactions of the station technissians

Bardock had followed Fusenmei, not bothering to speak much. However when they entered the elevator Fusenmei seemed to make a bit of a comment regarding the absence of life in the place...

"... Fortunately I'm not... sort of used to deserted planets by now. So seeing such a lack of life isn't really shocking or unnerving to me anymore." Bardock replied as he crossed his arms.

The Expense | Hallman's Office

"Ha ha very funny. Anyways I called you in here because we can't figure out anything to do with this damn blue box. Our plasma tools can't cut into it, and it is seems to be weighing a little too much for our smaller transport devices. So it's stuck here and I hope you can think of something." Hallman replied as he took a bite out of his steak dinner. "If you can even so much as open the damn thing I'm doubling your next paycheck."

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Surveillance

As the Runa and Bryn conducted their experiments in Runa's ship, the engineers manning the surveillance post watched the events inside through a high-frequency M-Wave viewport. They chuckled at the surprise the two expressed as Runa and Bryn created a micro-black hole.

"So, people are just now figuring out how to create super-massive constructs in this era? What a waste of time."

"No, no, Ben, It's fine. We're only Ninety-thousand YEARS IN THE FUTURE!" said one of the engineers as he burst out laughing.

"God, we were making micro black holes when Earth was still fighting wars with gunpowder!"

"Aaaaah, give 'em a break. These people didn't have access to our R&D Department. There's no way they could figure out how to develop micro-black holes until recently."

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Atrium

"Attention, All hands. Attention, All hands. Heaven will be jumping out of system in approximately two hours. Repeat, Heaven will be jumping out of system in approximately two hours." A voice over the Intercom announced their soon-to-be departure as Fusenmei led Bardock through Heaven's Atrium. She said nothing more until a loud voice jarred her from her focus.

"Здравствуйте (Hello)! Товарищ (Comrade) Fusenmei!" Called an elderly looking man as he approached, carrying a rather large box on his back. "How're you doing, молодая леди (Young Lady)?" He spoke in a rather thick Russian accent, and wove old Russian words into his otherwise English speech. The box that he had slung over his back seemed like it would be far too cumbersome for any normal human being to carry. But then again... there seemed to be an abundance of strange humans on Heaven.

"Lieutenant Colonel Strelok." Fusenmei said solemnly, "How was your mission to the surface?"

"Все та же старая, та же старая (Same old, same old). It was uneventful. Who's this Человек (Fellow)?"

"His name is Bardock. I'm showing him to the Barracks." Fusenmei responded.

"Hmm... Let me look at him... Святое дерьмо (Holy shit)! This man's vitality is up to twenty-thousand! Боже мой (Oh my god)! Few souls on this station even has a vitality of higher than one hundred, and even fewer have one around one-thousand. Jeez, even Phenom's barely reaches ten-thousand."

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Guardian Angel Commons

Lachesis went right back to reading after having whacked Phenom squarely on the forehead.

"Hey, Lacey?" Phenom started, staring up at Lachesis.

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay?"

"...Yeah." Lachesis said quietly.

"It seems like your attitude recently has all been an act."

"No, Phen, I'm fine."

"You don't seem fine. I've known you sine we were 3 years old, Lacey. You can't sneak much by me anymore.."

"I'm.... I don't know, Phen... I feel like I could have done something to stop Diavolo." Lachesis said, quietly.

"Lacey... you did everything you could. Nobody on this station came closer than you did. Diavolo just... didn't give us enough time to stop him."

"But I was the only one who could stop him! I had an objective that even your speed couldn't accomplish, Phenom! I was the only one who could save all of those people!" Lachesis became visibly upset. It was clear that she had been holding this in for a very long time. "Every single moment for those thousands of years we were frozen, Phenom... I heard their screams, their cries. I could have saved them, Phen... And I didn't."

"Lachesis..."

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Atrium

As Bardock followed Fusenmei through the Atrium and towards the barracks. However as they were walking the two were stopped by a man who was speaking both English... and some other language Bardock hasn't heard before. As such the Saiyan didn't know how to respond either than just standing there while Fusenmei and this man spoke.

However Bardock tensed up a bit as he the man took a 'good look at him', with the man then yelling something in that foreign language to Bardock before proclaiming something shocking. The man said that his 'vitality' was reaching 20,000, which was far more than most everyone currently on Heaven. This left Bardock quite stunned as he began thinking what 'vitality' meant, as the way this man is using the term vitality, it sounds like power level. Which left Bardock with only one real thought.

"Wait... Vitality? You mean like... Power Level? It's 20,000?? T-That's... well over 9,000!!!" Bardock replied. If this 'Vitality' reading is like a Power Level, and it is 20,000, then it is stronger than what Bardock originally thought it would be in his current state.

The Palace

John simply nodded as he looked over to the waypoint being displayed on his HUD, then back to Mara.

"Right. We'll keep an eye out for anything that might be able to help us restart the generator.", John finally said.

"Okay, small detour. I found where one of the administrative terminals would be located and have marked it on everyone's HUD. If we make it to what I believe is the Council Chamber, we should be able to access an administrator's terminal there and gather more information on the city and its current condition.", Cortana said.

"Okay, let's move.", John calmly responded to his companion's news.

Ethan was surprised by the statement SiMo had made about the entire ship and the creatures within it getting completely ripped from existence, and simply stared at the crater with his head slightly tilted to the side. To be frank, that was a close call, even for Ethan's standards, but despite the risk of death that he had unknowingly overcome, he couldn't help but give a small chuckle before eventually looking back over to SiMo and lightly shrugging.

"Welllll, I've still got some business to take care of in town before I go topside. You could tag along into town until you come up with a plan.", Ethan said to SiMo, offering to let SiMo follow him for a bit.

The Expense | Hallman's Office

Hmm...", Emile hummed as he looked at the strange blue box with a very light smile and a hand on his chin, as if to think about how to open it.

Just then, Emile took a silent deep breath before walking over to the box, grabbing the handle on the side, and firmly pulling and pushing the door to see if it would open. Despite the simple approach, Emile was actually pulling and pushing the door with a significantly larger force than what a human was even capable of.

"Erm.... Lieutenant Colonel... If you do not mind, I would like to get back to my job now." Said a slightly irritated Fusenmei.

"Oh... хорошо (Alright)... извините, капитан (Sorry, Captain). Best be on your way then!" And as quickly as he appeared, the elderly Russian man took off, his large rifle case bouncing around on his back.

As Fusenmei turned her head to watch the retreating Metkiy, she looked at Bardock for a moment. "I apologize for the delay. Lieutenant Colonel Strelok is rather... odd. Let us continue." She said, turning back in the direction of the Barracks.

A few minutes later, they had arrived at one of the towers that Phenom and Lachesis had pointed out to Bardock earlier, in the elevator. She walked up to the main entrance and placed her hand upon a pad beside the door. The doors immediately flew open, and Fusenmei led Bardock inside. A voice rang out from within.

"Welcome to Angel Legionnaire Housing Bloc 2-A, Captain Fusenmei." said the voice in a rather synthesized way.

"Thank you, Empanada. Can you do a favor for me?" the samurai asked.

"Certainly, Captain. What is needed?" Responded the voice.

"Unlock First Sergeant Melendez's Quarters. We have a... Replacement."

"Understood, Captain," The voice said once more, as a click and a beep could be heard from a door not 20 feet. "Replacement Angel: Please place your hand upon the doors Access Pad. Then give your Rank and Name."

Fusenmei planted her face in her hand and groaned, "That's right... I forgot about that... Regardless, I have a solution. Just go say 'First Sergeant Bardock.'"

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Guardian Angel Commons

Lachesis set down her book as she vented her frustrations, and buried her face in her hands. "I don't deserve to be here, Phenom. I don't deserve to live when so many others died because of me. Heaven didn't fail Earth. Nobody else could have done anything. You wouldn't have made it in time, Strelok can't calculate that far, Gaspard didn't see it coming, and Keegan couldn't build anything to speed up the process. It was all on my shoulders, Phen!" She began to tear up as she turned to face Phenom, "IT WAS ALL MY FAULT!"

Phenom sat up and shuffled his way across the couch over to Lachesis, "Lacey..." He said quietly. There was nothing else he could really say. He wrapped his arm around her in an attempt to comfort her. Unlike Phenom, Lachesis had never known survivor's guilt before. Especially not to the scale of an entire planet. She simply threw herself into him and began to sob.

"That seems agreeable, considering I have no other alternative." SiMo replied, holstering his weapons on built-in magnetic holsters on his back and leg, and was ready to move. "Information about the town may be desirable to me, if you possess any."

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

Alcyon Space | Space Station "Heaven" - Bryn's ship

The engineer was still working on the ship's computer when she had an idea "Hey Bryn, if you got those cables to get in sync on yout ship" she pointed at said objects hanging behind the pilot seat "Can you actually put your consciousness into the cyberspace?" she asked

The bioroid pondered about it for a moment and answered "It is possible, but I would need heavy machinery for that. The procedure most be at perfect sync and it still would be dangerous."

"The physical mind would probably get too stressed to survive the ordeal, right" the redhead guessed and received a nod "Yet we can augment our bodies to be as close as machines"

The palace

Mara's interest for the hidden technology sparked some enthusiasm on her as she was looking around, making mental notes of anything that could be useful "Going to the administrator's terminal can be a double edged sword, so far this place looks calm, but anythibg could be guarding the area, even more if it is something of high value like the terminal" she advised.
