    Hoenn Region - Route 116

Fortunately, Hiker Andrew did not grow sour after the defeat. He instead smiled widely and took Sherry's hand. He acceptex his defeat like a true man.

"Never have I seen a Machop as feisty as yours either." Andrew chuckled. "I can already see that you and your Machop will go far. I want a rematch when we meet again. For that, may I ask you to add my number to your PokeNav?"

Mac beamed with pride at the praise. Already his ego had been healed and boosted up to near obnoxious levels. Sherry would have to correct that little problem, but she wasn't going to ruin his fun today. He earned his pride.

Sherry doubted that her Machop would get her far by himself. She needed more pokemon to take up the slack and fill voids in her strategic lines. A fire, water, grass, and electric type would be fantastic to have, as would be a psychic or flying-type. Noticing the PokeNav in the hiker's hands, Sherry offered her own and exchanged numbers. Perhaps she would get a rematch with this man in the future!

"Say, before I go, do you know of any good spots to catch pokemon?" Sherry asked. "I'm looking to expand my party."

"Anywhere there's grass, honestly." Hiker Andrew answered, suddenly all poetic. "While I prefer rocky mountain Pokemon, I know that any Pokemon are good; you just need to love them all equally."

"Now, I must go back home. My wife'll grill me if I come home too late. Thank you for the match!"

"You're welcome!" Sherry called back to the hiker.

She watched with a smile on her face as he left. This world was a strange one, but at least she was making headway through it all. As long as she put her faith in these little creatures and never gave up, she may at long last achieve that childhood she never had. Leon and Claire would be proud of her accomplishments, but Sherry knew that there would be more to come. She dusted her hands and looked down to her partner.

"Well? Satisfied, little Mac?" she asked.

"Machop," stated the little fighting-type. He was content for now. "Chop chop."

"Good. Let's head back to the Pokecenter and get you healed up before heading to bed. Then when we get up, I'll treat you to a victory breakfast. Sound good?"

The Machop's eyes glistened with desire. He nodded vigorously and clenched his fists. Sherry laughed at that and patted the Machop's head before walking back down the trail to Rustboro, and then to the pokemon center. It was getting late for them both, and Sherry wanted to get to work on her assignment for Devon Corp. What kind of agent would she be if she put off her duties?

The combee was getting faster with both her attacks and her evasion skills as the fox started using a rubber ball she had on her backpack

"Come on Dia, let´s do one more round" Renamon said throwing the ball to the air

Diana locked her eyes on the ball and used gust attack on a nearby rock to launch it up towards her target and it hit on the mark. As both objects were now falling, the combee flew towards them and evaded the obstacles by using both another gust attack and spinning

"Good job Diana, we had a good practice, let´s go back to the center to have a good earned dinner" Renamon spoke with a good smirk

"I do feel faster and more powerful, just got to wait for the right moment to become better" Diana said flying close to her friend as they walked back to the pokemon center

Hoenn Region - Rustboro City - Pokemon Center

The day certainly was something to write home about, if Sherry could do that. She had managed to defeat Roxanne, she helped out a corporation of pokemon researchers and found herself under their wing, and she got in some good training with a delightful hiker. Everything so far was, more or less, going smoothly. There was the threat of this Team Anarchy, however, and the long road to Dewford, but Sherry had faced down tougher problems. After the incident in China, she felt like she could tackle just about anything.

She checked herself into the Pokemon center after healing her little Machop up at the counter and plopped herself down on a bed. The next day would be a crazy one, she thought to herself. As long as it was entertaining, there would be no worries. There were no BOWs, no Viruses, and no Wesker here in this world. Here, she could finally live out the childhood she never had. She nuzzled Mac's head before draping a blanket over him, finding him already tuckered out.

"Night night, little Mac," she cooed before snuggling into the covers of her bed.

After spending a good ten minutes looking out the window and at the city, John walked away from the window and over to the writing desk, where he grabbed his helmet and put it back on. After the helmet repressurized and the HUD flashed to life, John then looked over to the bed in the corner of the room. the bed looked inviting, But John knew that if he tried to lay on it, the bed would be crushed under his immense weight. It wasn't like the beds on the Infinity, where the beds were made with reinforced metals. With that thought in mind, he decided that the best option would be to sleep on the floor.

Seeing how the walls were made of a material that would be destroyed if he leaned on it, John picked a spot in the middle of the floor, away from anything he could accidentally break, and laid down. He knew that Renamon was going to arrive sometime later, so he left the lights on for her.

                  Beep-- Beep-- Beep-- Beep--

"Unnngh..." Yuuka stirred herself awake for a new day. The sun was beginning to shine, dispelling the darkness of the night creeping the ground. A ray of sunlight was reflected off the closed window, lighting the attic with warm morning light. Yuuka opened the window to let some fresh air in: cold breeze of the morning greeted her, almost chilling her.

"I guess it's cold today..." Yuuka mumbled as she closed the window and stared at her hands. They felt so... Lifeless... Without any power that she was accustomed to for thousands of years. When will her power be returned? She will not know. It may come in a day, a month, a year... a century... If it even will come back. All she can do right now is to guide and be guided by her Pokemon: Lilac the Eevee and Kappa the Lotad.

Yuuka stepped out of the bed. The full-view mirror displayed her messy green hair haphazardly flowing to her shoulders and sleepy face. If she wants to wake up and help Reggie with farming, she better take a shower now and get to the farm quickly. Thinking so, Yuuka descended the stairs and entered the bathroom.

"For a little guy, you sure can eat a lot," Sherry muttered as she watched her little Machop scarf down his plate of delicious berries. "But, you deserve it all after that fight."

Sherry nursed her cup of coffee with a smile on her face. She had taken Mac and herself to a cafe for a victory breakfast, just as she had promised. Also, the agent had slipped into a comfortable set of clothes that fit her! The day was bright and cheery, people were going about their business, and the pokemon and schoolchildren were playing in the streets. Rustboro was a fine place to stay in if you wanted to learn the ropes of being a pokemon trainer. But Sherry couldn't stay for long.

When the trainer and pokemon had finished up with their meals, Sherry paid the cafe and took off south down the main road in Rustboro. She was energized, awake, fit and ready to tackle the day ahead of them. The Devon Corporation's errand was fresh in her mind: take the sealed letter and USB stick to a contact named 'Chiu' in Dewford Town, a location in the southernmost area of Hoenn. Sherry didn't care for a reward, but she did like the extra supplies, pokedex and PokeNav that she was given. With that PokeNav, she could keep track of her schedule just as well as she used to do with her phone back in Edonia.

"Alright... We need to pass through Petalburg Woods," Sherry mumbled as she checked the map application on her PokeNav. She caught Mac's confused expression and explained. "I uh... Don't think swimming is the best option to get to Dewford. Maybe there's someone in Petalburg who can help us out."

The two of them passed through the southern entrance to Rustboro and looked out towards the woodlands in the distance...

If there was anything bad to be said about the Wilton family, it was their lack of towels. Reggie's father takes a dozen every day to wipe sweat off his forehead as he works in the farm, leaving very little left for other family members to dry their bodies after a shower.

"Dammit." Yuuka realized that there were no clean towels on the towel rack. It would be a real embarassment if she had to walk outside like this... If there were anybody outside.

Yuuka opened the bathroom door slightly and peeked outside. Other than a steaming kettle and a breeze from the open window flickering the curtain, there was no motion in the kitchen. Violet and Ziggy went to school in Rustboro, and Maria is out grocery shopping, so nobody was home. If I make a run for it, I can reach the attic, grab a towel, dry my body, and dress up before anybody sees me, right?

She bolted through the door and to the staircase: the longest five-second run ever. Fortunately, no one saw her. Good. Relieved that there were no embarassing accidents, she ascended the staircase to a shocking sight.

Chung woke up to find himself on a mattress, full with comforter and blankets and pretty blue pillow. How did he get here? All he remember from yesterday is that she met a nice lady named Yuuka and learned how to catch Pokemon from the local gym leader, Norman. A fragmented memory of warmth, food, and happiness followed suit. What was he doing yesterday? And what happened to him?

A quick footsteps echoed from below. 'Maybe whoever is coming can answer my questions,' Chung thought, but the sight scarred him.

                      WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!

"Alright," Sherry exclaimed as she entered Petalburg Woods from the north. "Now, Mac, I know we can get down by following this path here," she said as she pointed down south to a bunch of ledges, "but I want to take a look around first. If that Hiker's intel is on the money, any place there's high grass there should be a chance to find a wild pokemon. I don't see any wandering around just now."

The little fighting-type growled and nodded, appreciating the opportunity to find a new challenger. Sherry wanted to get to Dewford Town and get her errand over with, but she needed to prioritize her chances of success first. In order to get somewhere or defeat stronger trainers, she needed to build up a good team of fighters. The DSO and BSAA did not operate alone, and neither should she. She glanced about through the large trees at either sides of the paths before her, searching for something out of place.

The woods were different-looking this time around, but perhaps that was because Sherry wasn't running away from a horde of Wurmple. She figured it was just her looking back at the path she had trodden down upon, and how strange it was for her to backtrack. The sound of rustling leaves in the distance caught the agent's attention. As careful as can be, Sherry crept forward into the tall grass with Mac following close behind. With her acute senses, she hoped she could find a new pokemon to add to her team before she used up her budget of time for this area.

After all, Chui probably wouldn't be in Dewford Town for long.

As the agent scurried alongside the brushes and grass to look for wild Pokemon, a brave-looking swallow Pokemon descended from above, her beaks snapping.

                          Wild Taillow appeared!

"I- I'm sorry!" Chung covered his eyes and blushed as Yuuka staggered back in surprise, clutching her head as if she had nausea. What was this boy doing here?

Then she remembered. Yesterday, she met Chung at the nighttime bazaar, and invited him to spend the night in the Wilton family house. Then, Reggie brought out the ale, Chung got drunk, and blacked out.

"Uh, it's fine..." Yuuka fidgeted as she quickly grabbed the towel sitting on a dresser and covered herself. "If you'll excuse me, GET OUT!"

                            "Look out!"

Sherry ducked out of the way of the screeching Taillow and rolled back to her feet. She covered her head and looked for the bird, and when she did, she got an idea. When pokemon appeared and fought or harassed others, it typically meant that they were looking for a fight. If this was the case, then Sherry had just found a viable new partner. She looked to Mac and shouted.

"Time to move! Mac, see if you can swat it from the air!"

In hindsight, swatting a bird down from the sky was easier said than done. Mac jumped to his feet and leaped into the air a couple times near Sherry, focused on batting away the Taillow as it dived them like the spastic little sparrow it was.

Poor thing, Taillow. She was brave, but her defense couldn't keep up with Machop's menacing knife chop. The strike landed on Taillow's right wing, crippling her. She fell to the ground, landing with a thud on a soft grassy bed. She got up and tried to take off again but she could not. The tiny bone in her right wing was broken.

"G- gyaaaa-!" The Taillow gasped and panicked, fluttering her other good wing. A small gash on her right wing started spilling small drops of blood.
