Kris was being silent waiting to see how Trista and Ryofu greeted each other, she trusted Ryofu to be a good friend with the blonde girl. The ultima magician was soemone who could listen for a while and her questions, albeit direct, were truthful.

What took the wolf out of her thinking was another person talking about Trista´s shyness, the first thing she noticed was the foreign accent, then came the girl´s body itself, a slender and normal form, having eyes and hair of the same crimson color, but she could feel something else.. the girl had a scent different than a human.

("A vampire") she thought, the redhead looked at the girl and spoke "Oh hello there, are you one of Trista´s friends?" She asked cautiously, but with a relaxed tone since there was no feeling of threat coming from the girl at all

Well, as much as Sarah liked having friends, she wouldn't exactly label Trista as one just yet. Friends took time to make! You have to figure out what they like, how they are and how they act, what kind of person they are and how glaring their flaws are. If the pros far outweigh the cons, then there was great chemistry. If, however, two acquaintances weren't compatible or had a lot of problems to work out, then that meant that any hope of a friendly relationship would be thrown out the window. Sarah had only met Trista yesterday, and even then she hadn't spent that much time with her.

Still, Sarah liked the little girl and knew she had a kind heart hidden behind those shy shades. If she wasn't a friend now, she was bound to be one in the future. With a shrug of her shoulders the vampire addressed the red-haired wolf, ignorant that she had already figured out what she was by scent alone.

"You could say that, I guess. We're acquainted with each other," Sarah replied. "That's about it really. Talked a bit about books and the like yesterday before heading off to do whatever." Sarah held out her hand to Kris and smiled. "Me name's Sarah 'unnigan. Pleased to meet ya."

The wolf could feel that Sarah was someone who could at least be trusted with familiarity not yet as a close friend since they just met, but there was always the hope for good things.

Shortly after Trista made her greeting, Ryofu immediately replied with a simple hello followed by a question. Despite its simplicity, Trista did not know how to approach it and she was unsure as to how Kris would either. The intentions behind the question seemed innocent enough but without emotion in the girl's voice, Trista had no idea as to whether Ryofu was actually teasing her or simply curious. Of all the kinds of people for Trista to encounter, she did not know what to think of Ryofu. Right now, Trista's mind felt as empty as the lack of expression Ryofu gave. But whether that was Trista spacing out amongst her anxiety or another cause, she did not know.

Before Trista or Kris could respond, Trista heard a familiar and foreign voice speak up amongst the three. As Trista looked around her from behind Kris, Trista saw Sarah had taken the initiative to join in on the group's affairs. As to whether it was due to Trista greeting Sarah or the vampire's intuition was up to anyone's guess. In seeing Sarah finally join in, Trista face lit up and she moved out from behind Kris and up to Sarah.
"Sarah. It... I-It's nice t... to see you again." Trista spoke up in joy and excitement. "Kris made this... this ice ball. Do you... Do you like it?" In posing her question, Trista extended her small arms and presented the ice sphere to Sarah for her to see.

"Likewise; I love meetin' new people," Sarah cheered in response to Kris's comment. She looked down at their handshaking and gave a nervous chuckle. "That's some grip ya got there. And wicked nails! I ain't never seen a set like yers before!"

In all honesty, Sarah shouldn't have been so surprised at the nails. Kris wasn't a pure-blooded human with those unnatural ears, plus the tail sort of gave her away as well. Now the question was whether Kris was a foxy lady or could hold a wolfish grin. With nails like those Sarah was tempted to believe the latter, a wolf of sorts. Kris obviously didn't look like any wolf Sarah knew from Ullapool, so perhaps there was a new breed or species out there in the world. It begged some investigation after all acquaintances were made.

And speaking of acquaintances, there was that lassie Trista who creeped out from behind the wolf and into plain view. Sarah dropped her now free hand to her side and beamed at the blonde-haired girl, happy to know that despite the short amount of time they spent together yesterday Trista was happy to see her again. She glanced over to Ryofu for a moment to gauge her reaction before once again becoming unnerved. Was there something wrong with that girl, or did she just not show any emotion? Could it be that she was a robot? A robot sent from space who knew magic?

Before Sarah could think up something even worse or crazier, Trista presented her with an ice ball. The vampire had to do a double-take at the sight. Not only was the ice ball made of ice, obviously, but it was also maintaining its structure in such a pleasantly warm place like a library. Plus, the red-haired wolf, Kris, had made the ice ball. Sarah was tempted to believe that she did it with her claws, but regular ice would have melted or broken off when exposed to heat and pressure. It had to be magic. That was the only unlogical solution that made sense!

"It's like a crystal, I can hardly see any clouds! I like it! Ya dinnae see somethin' like that every day," Sarah commented as she examined the ice sphere. She straightened up and looked to Kris. "Did ya do that with magic or with yer nails? Either way, that right there's a barry of a job!"

"Well, the nails and strength come with the package if you know what I mean" Kris smiled showing her canines as her ears flapped for a second and the tail moved too show them to Sara. She felt good that there were other supernatural beings like her, maybe there was another wolf person around the campus.

When she was asked about the ice sphere, the redhead nodded "It was made by my magic, the nails are sharp, but I don´t have great pulse to carve object physically" she explained to the girl.

Sarah still wasn't quite sure what Kris was, but she placed good money on her being a wolf. The ears, tail, and even the elongated canines helped prove her point. The canines in question brought Sarah's attention to her own pair, however short they were. She figured the more predatory species in the world always had a good set of canines. When Kris explained that she made the ice sphere via magic but didn't have a great pulse to carve it physically, Sarah became confused.

"A great pulse?" Sarah repeated. She took on a bemused expression. "What do ya mean by that? I'd say you're very good at ice magic meself."

When it came to knowledge about the specialty magicks, Sarah's was very basic. As long as the caster had a general idea of what they wanted to achieve, anything was possible. Nowhere did it say anything about a 'pulse', unless magic was tied to a person's vitality. The vampire scratched her head as she awaited an answer from Kris.

Kris showed her palm to Sarah "By pulse I mean how accurate I can move my hands and fingers, and I don't have great experience with it" The furred hand looked ok, but if you looked closely, you could notice a small yet steady shake

"Meanwhile my magic is an extension of my soul and I got good experience with it" The redhead spoke with a tone of pride, but not of showing off at all.

Sarah examined the wolf-woman's hand and didn't see much other than a bit of fur here and there. If there was fur there, who was to guess as to where other patches where? The vampire blushed at the thought and brushed it aside. This was a place of study and learning, not bizarre thoughts and 'strangelove', not that I'm insinuating anything! Sarah did notice the shaking after a while, but she didn't think much of it. Perhaps there was some story behind this little impairment, but all Sarah did was smile and give a friendly pat to Kris's arm.

"Ach, dinnae worry about your hands. You'll get better in time." With a chuckle, Sarah added, "Well o' course yer good with magic! That ice ball proves as much."

There haven't been too many students who went out of their way to create something artistic with their magic. Mostly magic was used for common things and battles, not for decorative purposes. However, when used for the little things in life like teleporting people to the grocery store or levitating a piping hot cup of chocolate milk down to a wee scamp, all's the better. Magic doesn't have to be explosive or extraordinarily impressive to make someone smile. Kris had every right to be proud of her skills!

Sarah decided to turn her attention to the other unfamiliar girl and introduce herself. Yes, the expressionless face was something to be wary of, but it didn't seem like the girl, Ryofu, was a threat or disturbed. She just seemed... There but not there...

"Hello there! Yer name is Ryofu, right?" Sarah once again extended her hand, only this time to Ryofu. "Sarah 'unnigan. Nice ta meet ya."

Ryofu stood there listening to the conversation and then the new girl offered a handshake but Ryofu didn't shake but just looked at the hand for a minute. "Kris-nee......... reading there." Ryofu said to Kris pointing to where she was reading before hand. "Need me.......... come." She said and then looked at Trista and slightly bowed and left to where she was reading before and continued reading, completely ignoring the girl.
"No matter how strong or what power the enemy has, I will fight and protect my friends, even if it cost me my life to protect them. I will fight until I die to ensure their future."

"Ok Ryofu, I hope you enjoy your books" Kris spoke with Ryofu as she left. Then she glanced at both Trista ad Sarah "Please don´t look down on her, she is an ultima magic user, for what I understand what she told me, it takes most of their emotions, but makes them extremely powerful and intelligent" she apologized for her roommate and friend.

When Ryofu stared at the outstretched hand and ultimately refused to shake, Sarah felt like she had been kicked in the stomach. What had happened to this girl that made it so that she wanted nothing to do with other people? Here she was, standing tall and in plain sight, but she didn't care much for conversation or anything like it. Hell, even shy ol' Trista was more talkative and expressive than Ryofu. It just boggled the mind and made Sarah distressed.

Then Kris explained what she could. It turned out that Ryofu was an ultima magic user. Being an ultima magic user meant giving up your emotions for the tradeoff of becoming extremely powerful and intelligent, yet whether this was a choice Ryofu made in her life or an inborn ability was unknown. Sarah was tempted to believe the latter given Ryofu's 'confident' body language beforehand. With a frown the vampire muttered her condolences to the ultima magic user behind her back and turned to Kris.

"Christ, that sounds more like a curse. I couldn't live without emotions. They make me... Me," Sarah explained. She gestured to Ryofu as she spoke to Kris. "Does she at least know what love is? Can she feel that?"

In seeing Ryofu depart to read her books, Trista eased up amongst the other two girls. Right now, Trista couldn't be more pleased to speak to both Kris and Sarah. Even if Trista only knew the two girls for a day. She did not know as to how the current situation could be made better right now. Having Cygnus by her side as well? Or celebrating under a full moon? Or both? What mattered was that Trista loved the company.

Shortly after Ryofu left, Kris quickly clarified and attempted to dispel any prior prejudice against Ryofu by explaining her lack of emotion. According to Kris, this element, Ultima, drains almost all of their emotion but empowers the user in the process. But in what way was not clarified. While increased intellect seemed like a nice prospect, surely there was more to Ultima than Trista knew. Judging by its name, it sounded like some manner of spiritual empowerment. But whether that meant being able to enter an ascended state and perform deadly magical attacks or increase one's strength, Trista was unsure.
"Ultima..." Trista repeated. "I... I've never heard of U-Ultima. I'm not sure what to think of it... It sounds scary... Losing emotions..." Trista commented as she placed her right hand over her heart while attempting to balance the ice ball in her other. A loss of emotions seemed like two sided coin. On one hand, it would mean that Trista didn't have to be afraid of over-expressing herself. But on the other, Trista wished to keep her feelings. While there was the emotion of sadness and fear that frequently haunted Trista, she loved the feeling of joy, companionship, and even... love. To lose those emotions, Trista didn't not know how to feel about that concept.

"I know of the basic elements. L-Like yours. But... Ultima... If an element like Ultima exists? Wh... What other elements could there be? What powers are there to... to wield?" Trista asked to follow-up.

Kris put a finger on her chin thinking "For what Ryofu explained me, there is close to no exposure of emotions from the outside, but an ultima user does have his or her emotions on the inside. The soul can´t lose it´s fire that easily" she explained to both girls as they were troubled and or scared about that.

Hearing about the elements, the wolf couldn´t help but smile "Oh there are many elements in the world of magic, we have the four basic elements of earth, fire, water, and air, then come extensions of them like ice and nature, then the opposites of light and darkness that can both clash or mix together." she started speaking having memories of all the books she had read. "There are rarer elements like ultima, sound and magnetism magic. Alchemy and summoning and so on with things like time, energy"

"Some are new while others that are ancient like the lunar, planetary and life magic, it is a whole diversity" the redhead spoke with a smile on her face

It seemed like Kris had done her research on all things magical. That was pretty commendable! Sarah figured Kris and Ryofu were good friends if Kris was speaking on her behalf about the emotional states of ultima magic users. It didn't make Sarah feel much better knowing that Ryofu couldn't feel much, but it did offer some hope. Somewhere deep inside that robotic woman was a small spark of emotion. If only that could ignite and warm the body up, Ryofu wouldn't have to be subject to the curse that is ultima magic.

Super intelligence and power be damned, nothing was worth it if you couldn't feel joy, sorrow, anger, or love.

"Tch, I dinnae envy Ryofu at all," Sarah muttered. "I just feel sorry for her. Poor thing..." When Kris explained her knowledge of magic and such, Sarah was glad for the change in topic. She looked down at Trista and added, "I guess that there's a magic type for just about everything. As for me own, light and dark are two sides of the same coin."
