    Mt. Chimney - ((@Wriggle))

Whether it was because of the strength of the water-type attack or the inherent nature of most feline pokemon, the Purloin did not like the water at her feet at all. She hissed and ducked away from the blasts of water and only managed to get her paws wet from the attack. It wouldn't slow her down, but it did discomfort the cat. She flicked her paws one at a time and growled at the Spheal before the voice of Juri cut through the air.

"Stow your pride until the fight's over! The Spheal's playing the distance game; get up there and throttle 'em!"

While Ripley could not 'throttle' a chubby round pokemon with her bare paws, she could at least make it falter. The Purloin leapt for the few patches of heated ground left untouched and launched between them to get to the Spheal. When she was close she would smack her tail into the side of the Spheal's face; a move that wouldn't do any damage yet would probably startle the pokemon. A tail whip!

The skinny little tail didn't do much to Spheal. In fact, it caused the Spheal to roll back once, creating more distance between him and the Purrloin. Nevertheless, the Spheal, startled by the tail, failed his followed-up Water Gun attack. He instead curled his body and formed an even rounder ball, increasing his resistance to Purrloin's attacks by, albeit little, still significant amount.

Sela listened to what Glitch was saying about an ancient artifact. "If it's ancient Hoenn in origin, it might be related to Groudon, Kyorge and Rayquaza, since those are the more common legends in Hoenn but there are a few others too. I read up on ancient legends of regions I'm about to go to. Do you have a picture of it?" Sela asks curious about it.
"No matter how strong or what power the enemy has, I will fight and protect my friends, even if it cost me my life to protect them. I will fight until I die to ensure their future."

"Oh, playing hard to get huh?" Juri taunted.

In a sense, she was speaking for her Purloin as well. Ripley was none too pleased at seeing her feint not do much other than stop the water gun. A lowered defense was just going to be raised up again by the Spheal's defensive curl. It was as if nothing happened at all, but that wasn't the case. Where the Purloin saw a failed attack, Juri saw a good opportunity. With the Spheal focused on its defense it wasn't about to go anywhere so soon.

Ripley looked up at Juri and noticed her competitive gaze. Taking the tacit order, the Purloin crouched down onto her haunches and leapt at the Spheal for a simple tackle. Unless stopped, the Purloin would bat the round pokemon around like a ball of yarn.

"Hey Cipher!" Juri called. She rocked about, her hips swaying as she smirked. "How about we make this fight interesting, huh? How about a little wager? If I win this fight, you tell me where I can get another good partner for my team, like that Spheal there."

"I have a photo taken right here..." Glitch said as she reached into her bag. After rummaging through her bag, however, Glitch's face contorted into that of frustration and embarrasment. "Dammit, I forgot."

Glitch instead pulled out a watch-like machine and put it on. After tapping a few buttons, a live image of a middle-aged woman wearing casual clothes underneath a lab coat appeared.

"Glitch!" The woman shouted jovially. "Glad to see that you're well. I trust that you went to Hoenn just fine?"

"Yes, Professor, except I forgot to bring my manila folder regarding the artifact." Glitch responded to the image.

"I noticed." The woman, presumably Professor Juniper, chuckled and nodded. "It's quite alright. I've sent Bianca to deliver the folder to you. She'll arrive at Lilycove in a week."

"What should I do until then?" Glitch asked.

"Hmm... why don't you try taking the Hoenn gym challenge?" Professor Juniper suggested. "Just like Unova, Hoenn has Pokemon gyms that are sprawled across the region. While travelling to Lilycove, you can train in the gyms."

"That... doesn't sound like a bad idea..." Glitch gave a consideration before ultimately agreeing. "That sounds like fun. I think I will do so."

            Mt. Chimney

"Alright, I'll tell you where you can find a new member for your team." Cipher agreed. The Spheal continued rolling about, dodging Ripley's tackles... or at least attempting to until Ripley's determined pounce knocked the Spheal off course and towards a large boulder. The blubber absorbed some of the blow, but that damaged.

"But if my Spheal comes out victorious..."

Cipher's Spheal splashed the ground around him with water, cooling the area. It was all part of Cipher's plan, of course, to intentionally make his Spheal miss his Water Gun by a slight bit, not that it would be enough to knock the cat out quickly.

"Tomorrow, you have to come with me to Slateport City."

            "As a date."

"A... A date?" Juri allowed a small blush to taint her cheeks. It was obvious she hadn't expected this, but as quickly as the blush appeared, it vanished. "I mean uh, yeah, sure. You're on!"

Really? Why did it have to be a date, Juri thought. She considered herself to be attractive, but she didn't go out of her way to appear presentable. Sometimes she liked to appear seductive just so her missions would go smoothly, that's all. It was nothing, Juri reassured herself, albeit nervously. A date was nothing big if she lost. Not even if it was with Cipher.

This only made Juri's competitive nature shine brighter. Now she had some good incentive to win!

"Come on Ripley, knock that Spheal out!" Juri cried.

The Purloin's assault was relentless. She dodged what water she could and soldiered through any stray jets before getting up close and personal with her opponent. Her claws extended out from her paws and glimmered in the dim light as she focused on attacking the Spheal.

Sela was a little sad that Glitch forgot the picture but then she saw Glitch take out an Xtransceiver and called Prof. Juniper. After Prof. Juniper suggested that Glitch take on the Hoenn gyms, Sela decided to jump in. "Hi there Professor, it's been awhile." Sela said as she comes behind Glitch on her right side. "You said Bianca is coming to Hoenn? It would be nice to see her again." Sela said about hearing that Bianca is coming. "I'm planning on taking on the gyms here to continue my journey." Sela said with such a happy tone. "So what is this artifact that you and Glitch found?" Sela asked curious about the artifact.
"No matter how strong or what power the enemy has, I will fight and protect my friends, even if it cost me my life to protect them. I will fight until I die to ensure their future."

"Oh my, long time no see Sela!" Professor Juniper gleefully greeted Sela. "Yes. Originally I was going to send Bianca only to hand Glitch the files she forgot, but I thought maybe she could have a little break too, so I allowed her a vacation."

"Wait, Professor you know her?" Glitch asked, confundedly pointing at Sela.

"Why, yes. Before you became a full-fledged Pokemon trainer, Sela took the Unova gym challenge. She was fantastic, although she was never able to defeat Hilda." Professor Juniper replied a bit proudly. "Hilda is probably one of the strongest trainers in Unova, if not the entire Pokemon universe... I wonder where she is now..."

"Oh, I digress. We still don't know what this artifact could be: it's very huge. After two weeks of excavating, our team was able to harness a piece of the artifact that's almost my height! Fascinating, isn't it?"

Sela laugh chuckles some. "Yeah, she beat me in the Unova league and got me 3rd place. She is strong and a great opponent to train with. I ran into her many times in my Unova journey." Sela said to Glitch. "Really? It was that big?" Sela asked amazed at the size of the artifact. "Do you think it has to do with the Land, Sea and Sky legend with Groudon, Kyorge and Rayquaza?" She asked to see if Prof. Juniper is thinking the same thing.

Spheal isn't the world'a fastest Pokemon, while Ripley could be a pretty agile one. The claw attack struck, and even the Spheal's own blubbers couldn't save him as the Scratch attack dealt a considerable amount of damage.

Cipher, a bit desperate now, checked the air. It was a lot colder and more humid than before the battle. One more Water Gun should be enough to cool down the area enough for that manuever.

The Spheal noticed the change in the temperature as well. This was, of course, thanks to his efforts to cool the area down with water. Three tiny little marks across his blubbers were his scars of glory. A little more would be enough for that technique, the Spheal thought and smiled playfully, as he rolled away from the enemy Purrloin, spraying water from his mouth while doing so.

"It possibly can't be." Glitch intervened. "Aren't Groudon and Kyogre only 14, 15 feet tall?"

"Who knows what the source of the artifact could be?" Professor Juniper chuckled. She was obviously very excited about the discovery. "Anyway, I have to go to a meeting. It was nice to meet you, Sela. Glitch, Bianca will tell you what you need to do when you get to Lilycove City. The cruise ship she is on is estimated to arrive in a week."

"Okay, catch you later, Prof." Glitch bid farewell as the Xtransceiver was turned off.

Both Juri and Ripley were oblivious and ignorant as to what Cipher was planning. In the trainer's eyes, the Spheal was trying to coat the ground in water so it could maneuver better. This encouraged her to then in turn encourage her pokemon to slap the water-type around in the hopes that she could do extra environmental damage. Water-types were resistant to fire, but still, hot ground was uncomfortable. Wet ground was uncomfortable as well if the Purloin's irritated growls were anything to go by.

"Quit running away and face me!" Ripley mewed as she chased after the rolling Spheal. With her feet wet and irritating her, the Purloin missed many opportunities to lay some serious hurt on the smug smiling Spheal. "Oh Arceus have mercy..."

"Just what are you up to Cipher?" Juri muttered as she looked on, curious and apprehensive.

Sela stretches her arms upward. "So you're going to head to Lilycove now aren't you?" Sela asks Glitch after the talk with Prof. Juniper was over. "I read there's a ship that will take you to Slateport then take a cruise ship to Lilycove, but the ship to Slateport is the opposite direction from where I'm going. Though I would like to see Bianca again. What to do?" Sela said to Glitch then asking herself. Sela just had a thought. "Oh, since we're heading the same way for a bit, how about we travel together for a while? If that's alright with you of course?" Sela asks.
"No matter how strong or what power the enemy has, I will fight and protect my friends, even if it cost me my life to protect them. I will fight until I die to ensure their future."

"You'll see right now." Cipher smiled with a quasi-kind wink, the same smile that he bore when he would ruthlessly carry his missions for Team Magma. "Spheal, Powder Snow."

Spheal opened his mouth and something came out: not water, like those countless Water Guns wasted on the ground, but snow. It wasn't necessarily a blizzard-level, but the powdery snow swirled circles around Ripley, cold to the touch and obscuring vision.

"Mt. Chimney's hot, volcanic air is detrimental to ice-type moves. However, water cools down hot surfaces, allowing ice-type moves to be a lot more effective. The cooler the atmosphere, the better." Cipher began explaining while Ripley was immobilized by the cloak of snow and his Spheal, his blubbers outstretched, stood proudly and triumphantly. "Cats generally hate water, so I figured your Purrloin would avoid getting hit and purposefully aimed at her feet to maximize the area of the ground I could soak. I was right."

"That doesn't sound like a bad idea." Glitch accepted Sela's request with a nod. "I've been all across Pokemon universe, but never with a human companion. It was mostly a solitude journey with my Pokemon. Which isn't bad, per se, but it gets lonely."

"Alright. You can come with me. Lilycove is a long way to go, but we should be able to reach there by the time Bianca arrives to Hoenn."

Sela said happily as she reaches for Treeko's Pokeball and a red beam shot at Treeko and went into the Pokeball. Eevee ran up Sela and went into her hat with it's head popping out. Sela reached into her bag and pulled out an unknown berry. "Give this to Axew." She said handing the berry to Glitch. "Let's go. We only have a week." Sela and as she starts walking. "Vee!" Eevee said happily.

"Well, I do not actually know what flavor of berries my Axew likes..." Glitch took the berry and examined it. She wasn't necessarily a botanist, so she didn't know what type of berry this was. "But I'll see if he likes it or not at a later time."

Glitch turned her head to look at Andrew. "Hey kid, you wanna tag along with us as well?"
