Well, the Higher Power is a GOD, for one. He was more interested in what John was doing than the defrotsting. Think of it as someone watching a movie. When you're watching the movie, you wouldn't think about something completely different, would you?
Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

I actually had a weird, creepy moment when I woke up. For some reason, I had a tune and lyrics in my head as soon as I woke up.
This is what they were.

Kind of creepy and disturbing when you just wake up. I thought I heard it from somewhere, so I looked it up, but found nothing.
