I don't understand, but I don't want to understand or be involved in any way.
Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

Otori
A 'deep trust' bond with Shikieiki, technically her guardian as far as the Neo-Yakuza goes.
Komachi's guardian, he is good friends with her.
Trusts John and the gang.
Looks at Gerard as more of a father figure than his biological father.
Treats HM like a brother.
Treats Hank and the trio like comrades.
Looks at Big Boss as a legend.
Now defected from the Neo-Yakuza.

Is Gerard's biological son, now doesn't know Gerard is alive any longer.
Has a strong bond with Daiyousei, one would say he were in love with her.
