    Cavern | Outside Kris's outpost

Jason was feeling a little bit better and wasn't shivering and stuttering as much anymore. Jason turned his head over to Seki and explained what he meant.

"W-whenever you t-touched me, you st-arted to make my b-blood boil. You were cooking me, b-burning me on the inside.", Jason explained to Seki.

Jason then looked over to Kris and spoke once she finished lecturing them.

"I-I'm f-fully aware of th-that. I may b-be a miner ans bl-blacksmith, b-but I'm not st-t-tupid. F-first thing's first, we need to come up with a better p-plan. We need t-to know where to g-go next.", Jason said to Kris as he began to stutter less and less..

Seki wasn’t exactly sure what Kris meant by her not being completely better yet. She felt fine. She was in a good enough condition to put up a fight against a speed mage, what else was wrong? Had she somehow damaged her aura? Was Kris only talking about the scars she had left? “Ehhhh what do you mean? What’s wrong with me?” She asked in a slightly scared tone. The two coins that had fallen on her head just now fell back into her lap. Seki held on to Jason’s hair with one hand and placed the other one under his chin as she began to pull backwars on him. “HELP ME MAGIC HEAD! Ohh I pray to the gods of ayayayayayayaaaaalulalananunalula!”

Jason's hair was pulled back as his head was pulled as well. His scalp wasn't very sensitive, but it still hurt.

"Ahh! Knock it off! You'll be fine! I'll even heal you if you would just stop pulling on my head!", Jason said as he pulled his head forward, against Seki's grip.

The commotion caused Jason to forget that he was cold or even drained. He was too busy trying keep Seki from pulling his head off his shoulders.

It was a shame that he had no power? Eric's lips twitched up into a split-second scowl. It sounded like someone was being condescending to him once again. Sure, just because he didn't have some 'power' or magic to rely on didn't make him powerless, but it didn't make him someone to ignore either. Everyone looks at the warrior-mage who the giant flaming sword instead of the mechanic, Eric thought bitterly. He swung his legs over his cot and raised himself up into a sitting position, wincing at the action.

"I'd say... I was about a quarter of a football field's length away from the blast, or about the length between the home plate and the pitcher's mound, if you're familiar with baseball. Maybe the bushes I was submerged in helped shield me a bit from the blast." He looked off in thought before shaking his head. "There was no-one else with me. Just me and... Oh..." Eric's eyes widened as he whirled on the commander. He spoke with haste, his voice quivering with anxiety. "I had a packmule with me! Tiny thing, but it had all my armor and weapons. Did the folks who brought me in see it?"

The other question would have to wait for the moment. The merchant's charge was too dire to ignore.

            Kris's Outpost - 10:03 AM

Phenom and Kris had watched the fight between Seki and Jason for some time before Kris decided to step in. It wasn't until then that things went from ridiculous to ludicrous. The commotion outside, what with Seki effectively harassing Jason, was enough to cause Phenom to plant his forehead on the table he had been sitting at during the whole debacle.

"How... did I get stuck... with these two..." he groaned.

(going down town for aunt's birthday. may not be able to post.)

Seki played tugawar with Jason’s head for a bit longer in her panic as she spoke a mile a minute in what seemed to be some kind of odd prayer.

“Watashi wa ikitakunai watashi o tasukete! Hebi ga arimasu oyoyoyoy~ Kyodaina kame wa watashi no kukkī o tabeta huuuu…. Oh the ceiling looks so pretty!" Seki said as she finally looked up at the crystals that illuminated the area. She let go of Jason’s head and fell on her back as she stared blankly upwards at the ceiling.

((Sorry if my translations are bad I’ve only recently started learning Japanese. Basicly she said “I don’t want to go. There’s a snake. A Giant turtle ate my cookie”))

Kris looked at the fire magician and took her --you have nothing wrong in your body, the village shaman will check your mana flow and adapt it to your willimg so if you create another big sigil without injuring your inside organs-

The huntress then talked outloud -- we are leaving to the village um half hour, prepare your gear and stuff because you will feel cold temperatures and posible insufficient oxygen, we are going to the mountain top-

Kris then faced phenom --there is a path to the nearest town if you want to leave us, byt take in mind that civilization has its eyes on you--

Finally Kris asked Seki --so why dud you wanted to fight Jason? Did he hurt or steal simething from you?--

                  Otori began thinking.

"Alright, think, think... Damn, I have to."

Otori took out another wind bomb capsule. He silently but swiftly made it float to the other side. He detonated the bomb.

"There. That should keep 'em busy for a while."

Otori picked himself up a little bit and flew himself into a nearby forest.

HM was watching at the same time.

"... It's about time he acted. I was getting tired of him just sitting around..."

                  He turned back to Eric.

"Huh? Ah, yes... No, there were no sightings of a mule nearby. Sorry. But look on the bright side: he might be alright. Now then... About the last question?"

The mule might be alright, yes, but he would be far away from where Eric was. With his current luck, a bandit had made off with his mule and supplied his ragtag group with his weaponry and armor. And then Eric's head would be on the line because he supplied a bunch of savages... He was tempted to barter with this commander; ask him what this information was worth. However, he was in no position to make that kind of talk.

"I didn't get a real good look at the folks who caused the explosion. All I can tell you is that there were three of them, maybe four. One was some little girl playing with fire, a ranger lass, and a guy who looked like a miner. That's really all I know..."

Seki had been watching the crystals in the ceiling with a blank stare almost the entire time Kris was talking. It wasn’t until a few moments after Kris had asked her that question that Seki snapped out of her daze.

“Eh.. oh! Umm right reasons uhh…” Seki’s mind had gone blank and she was struggling to remember anything at the moment. She began muttering to herself trying to think of what it was. “fight, fire burn explosion projectiles coins speed fight.. fight…fighting.. battle war… WAR!” Seki suddenly sat back up very quickly as her memory came back to her and she started to explane her reasoning.

“Oh oh I wanted to fight Jason to help train him and give him more experience of what it’s like to be in the middle of a war, but it wasn’t working because he didn’t wanna kill me so I made him really mad, but I was mad myself cause he lost the gift you gave me but then he found it and he gave it back to me, and I made a big round circle life fire thingy that drained my energy so I wouldn’t be able to fight him at full strength and accidently kill him IT’S FOOL PROOF!" Seki explained to Kris while talking a mile a minute. Seki lifted her tiny bag of coins and placed the two coins she had taken out back inside before poudly showing it to Kris. In a calmer, slower and much easier to understand tone, Seki continued to explain.

“This baggie was the first nice thing anyone has given to me for a really, really long time. The last thing before that was….” Seki paused for a moment and reached into her hoody pocket. She pulled out her doll and showed it to them to let them know the doll was the gift she had been talking about. To Seki these items, the doll and the baggie meant that someone cared about her. It was like the weapons and armor Jason’s father left him. They held strong sentimental value.

Jason shook his head and gave Seki a confused look.

"Wait, you said that it was a circle of fire that would only disappear if one of us died.", Jason said to Seki.

Jason's attention then went to the second think Seki said, about the coins and her doll. Hearing about how those were the only times someone was nice to her made him feel a little bad for yelling at her in the fight. He wasn't the kind of person to hurt other people, but perhaps he was no better when he attacked her competence. Besides, the only kindness she was ever given was the doll and the bag of coins. That wasn't much, and it certainly spoke volumes about how she was treated in the past.

"Ehh, sorry for yelling at you, while we were fighting.", Jason said as he then began to slowly heat his body up, to fully restore his temperature.

Once his temperature returned to normal, Jason pulled off the nightshirt and gave it back to Seki.

Seki was confused about what to say to Jason. She wasn’t mad at him, he didn’t make her feel bad. In fact she was trying to get that kind of reaction out of him. There was nothing for him to be sorry for. She turned her head to look at Kris, then Jason, Then Kris and then Jason again. She was trying really hard to think of something, anything she could say but nothing came to mind. Finally Seki put her hand on Jason’s shoulder. The look on her face said (I don’t want you to be sad) but Seki remained silent.

Jason saw the look on Seki's face and thought about why she was giving him that look. Was it because she thought he was sad? He wasn't really sad, it's just that he felt as if he went overboard when he got angry. He really wanted to hurt her when she said those things to him, even if they weren't true. He shouldn't have gotten that angry and he shouldn't have acted that way. Not only did he feel guilty for attacking her, he also felt sad about the fact that she didn't really know what it felt like to have somebody be nice to her. She may have had some serious problems, but that didn't mean that she should be treated badly. Despite her faults, she was still a good person. Perhaps it was that she didn't understand the implications of her actions? She was trying to help him get better at fighting, even if she was going overboard. Jason thought up of something to say, to end Seki's concern.

"Hey, I'm not sad, so you don't really have to worry about me. I just wanted to apologize for my actions, that's all.", Jason said to Seki in a positive tone as he changed his facial expressions to match his voice.

HM listened on. To him, it sounded like the two outlaws. But what about that other one... He didn't care. He had one thing on his mind.

"Thank you, that was essential. But I have one more question..."

He looked at Eric with piercing eyes. Those that would greatly outmatch that of a snake.

"Did you see a man in a suit with dark red hair with them?"
