just make the mining well from BC it only costs what i stated before it only needs 1 coal using engine and i mines a 1x1 square down to bedrock
edit: as far as i know it takes 4 sticks 4 cobble 13 iron and 1 redstone unless kaytree changed it or you have gregteck installed

Mining wells are only useful for finding underground caverns or being a primary part of pumps.
Tbh the latter is more useful. If you use BC power you'll need pumps.
Trust me, my combustion engine set-up back during RTY 1.0 required alot of pumps.
Makes me wonder...
Are ender tanks cheaper to make than phase fluid pipes?
Also what Mystcraft pages you guys have?
You might be able to make a good oil pump system that you can use combustion engines with...

I think we have all mystcraft pages available, but for some reason all the currently generated worlds (2 by Kaytree and 1 by me (the latter is being turned to sand)) are all Twilight forest, if I remember correctly.
Also, watch out, they may hurt. D= (the sand world poisons u if u're in the sun).

Yeah, I was either going to spend some time into a steam engine, or go nuts with sterling engines (which blow up)
I've also spent time in single player to make a cooling system/watering system for a steam engine.

If you could set up a mystcraft world abundant in oil you could consider combustion engines and just have to worry about setting up a proper cooling system plus fuel refinery system to go with the engines.
I would mention my one set-up that I dubbed "All the King's Horses."
It was a setup of about 24 engines iirc...
...it used so many logic gates...
Because you guys have a warding focus I would suggest making a simple system of 3 combustion engines "insulated" with warded blocks so as to minimize any damage should something go wrong for some reason.
Warding is a very inexpensive way to help keep things from leaving a crater in your basement.
...not like that happened to me or anything.
It might not be the most efficient system, but it is nice to have as additional power.

Testers, do not freak out because the server isn't up for a little under a day. In the middle of updating stuff.
Non-testers, this updated fixes all known RTY 2.0 bugs(I did introduce a few "bugs"(more like incomplete features) that needs to be fixed before RTY 2.1, but that's not something I have to bother too much about right now). This does not mean that stuff is done yet, but it does mean that things are getting closer.
