If John got angry or something similar now that should be more than enough for this if he don't hold back that is.
That would grant him all abilities Ansem ever have. Of course it comes with downsides too like that he won't be a spartan until he change back which he does by holding back his darkness again or it could be that it could happen simply because he doen't have enough darkness to keep himself like that.

As I see it the Darkness armor hapens when he wields the darkness. When he outright gives himself in to it, that happens. Ansem's darkness becomes his own darkness and he gains the form of Ansem.
It all depends on how his feelings go, what happens.
