After the girl explained the rock's powers, John's eyes lit up, something that was very uncharacteristic for the seasoned Spartan-II.

"Then that means I can go home!", John said to the girl in a somewhat excited tone.

After taking a moment to calm down, John spoke again.

"Would it be okay if I used it?", John asked her.

Sherry noticed Claire was eying the tamato berry in the salad Kappa was eating and chuckled. Back home, she could hardly eat outside next to birds for fear that they would swoop in and take what they wanted. In most cases the birds were smart, but other times some unlucky bloke got a faceful of feathers when trying to eat something. Claire was brave, and it seemed that she was roguish as well.

As the tiny swallow Pokemon swooped in on that salad to claim her prize, regardless of whether the Lotad was looking or not, Sherry reached into her pack and fished for her new PDA. She flipped open the PokeNav and spoke between bites.

"Remember, we're going in for a flag and a stolen Pokemon, but that shouldn't mean we shouldn't do more if we have the chance," Sherry offered. "I mean, what if more is at stake here than petty thievery and kidnapping?"

"Not until my vacation's done and you deal with that Didact fellow." Koishi said.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

John was happy to have a device that could take him home within his grasp, but his hopes were quickly shattered when the girl gave him an answer.

"Not until my vacation's done and you deal with that Didact fellow."

          "What?... Why?", John asked.

"Because a few reasons. One, if that Didact fellow's still bad as you claim, do you want someone like him running around in another world, possibly trying to attempt to do the same thing as he did before? Two, i'm on a vacation slash adventure, and I don't want to be interupted. Three, you need to slow down and enjoy this world for what it is." Koishi explained as she munched on a Snickerdoodle cookie she had.

Of all the things John heard the girl say, the only thing that was relevant to him was of The Didact enslaving Humanity, this Humanity. It may not have been his Humankind, but they were still human. The girl was right about that. John couldn't abandon them, it didn't feel right to him. John didn't really care much about her vacation because it was simply more time he would need to wait to go home, and as for enjoying this world, John didn't care much for it. He couldn't really comprehend how one could "enjoy it for what it was." To him, it was a place where people normally fought with animals instead of with weapons. First and foremost, he was a soldier, a Spartan. Being as such, John only existed to protect Humanity. Since that was the case, he knew that he couldn't abandon these people to enslavement. Of course, he also wanted to go home, but if he said goodbye to this girl and left, there was a chance that he would never see her again. He would lose his chance to go home. With all that in mind, John spoke to the girl.

"You're right about The Didact, but I don't want to be separated from you, so I'm willing to try and find a peaceful alternative if you would accompany us. Will you?", John asked the girl.

"If that's the case, then sure, i'll join you. Just let me and my pokemon finish eating." Koishi said as she finished her own Snickerdoodle.

John was tempted to go back to Renamon and tell her the news, but he would risk losing this girl. Instead, John decided to sit down at the base of a nearby tree and wait for her to finish eating. While he waited, John took this opportunity to inspect his pistol and ensure that it was in perfect working order, along with his MA5D Assault Rifle. In truth, he had no reason to check them, especially since he already had a pokemon, but it was simply a force of habit. Years of it being drilled into his head made the habit as second nature to John as breathing.

As John checked the clip to ensure it was full, John also realized that he didn't even know this girl's name. If he was to travel with her, then he would need something to address her by.

"What's your name?", John asked the girl as he looked over his weapon.

"Perhaps there are more to be done than our mission at hand." Yuuka said as she rose from her chair. Lilac and Kappa, finished with their meal, hopped off the table and stood next to Yuuka. "Come on, finish your sandwich and follow me."

"It's Koishi. Koishi Komeiji." Koishi introduced, holding out her hand for a handshake.

John looked at Koishi's hand and reached his hand out, all while holding his empty gun in his other hand. John's hand was huge compared to the girl's hand, but he was still able to shake her hand without difficulty. After the handshake, John went back to prepping his gun, then putting it away on his magnetic holster.

"You know that thing's probably useless against most things here." Koishi said. "Most creatures have a defense against such things."

"Some. Some creatures have a defense.", John said to Koishi.

"When I was transported here, into the middle of the wilderness, I had only these guns. Most of the Pokemon didn't bother me, but some of the larger ones were more aggressive and tried to kill me. The bullets worked normally on most of them, but there were others that were resistant. There was one in particular that only seemed to get angrier. It was some kind of rock-snake made out of boulders, and had a large stone spike sticking out of its head. My bullets chipped away at it and took chunks away from its exterior, but it only seemed to piss it off. I tried to break it by punching it, but I could only crack the weaker parts of it. I had o try and get away, and the only reason I did was because it knocked me off a cliff and into a lake.", John explained to Koishi.

"That was probably an Onix." Tenshi spoke up. "You should see it's evolution. Hehe."

"Wait a moment, you were shooting at pokemon?" Koishi asked.

"They were trying to kill me. One of them actually managed to pierce my armor. I'm just lucky I have an updated variant, or else I would be dead.", John said to Koishi.

"I'll be honest, I shot at pokemon, but only when my life was in imminent danger. I would rather avoid them than fight them, but some of them were able to hear me sneak by and attacked me. I can't run as fast as I used to, and my strength has been reduced. I had little choice.", John said to Koishi.
