Mac's ferocious jabs caused Poochyena to play defensively, running around in the ring of fire and evading the punches decently. Grimer tried to help, but Fraxinella kept the little sludge busy, redirecting his attention with fiery blast of ember every time Grimer tried to exploit Mac's blind spot.

"What are you doing, Poochyena? Can't handle a midget?" Grunch asked the Poochyena who took the time to look back at his trainer. Grunch's words may sound harsh, but to his Pokemon, they were pep talks. "Go in for the offense. You can't gain nothin' without risk."

Poochyena's eyes changed. He drew in his breath and howled with such force that Mac and the fiery arena were blown away. Unrelenting, Poochyena dashed and tackled Mac with increased power, to which the Grimer followed up with a poisonous slam towards Fraxinella, who flew up to evade it.

"Uh-oh," Sherry muttered upon seeing the Poochyena's howl in action. "That was... Unexpected."

Mac seemed to be less concerned with the reversal than his trainer was. If a fight wasn't back and forth, it wasn't as exciting. The little fighter took the tackle like a champ and was pushed back a fair distance. He was thankful that the ring of fire had died out, else he would have been singed. With his stubby little legs keeping him upright, the Machop pushed against the Poochyena to give him some space.

With a determined cry, the fighter brought a leg up and snapped it forward to kick into the Poochyena's side.

The Poochyena hopped sideways to evade the vicious low kick and bit Mac on his arm. However, noticing that Mac's muscle was too dense to sink his fangs into, Poochyena immediately relished his jaws and dashed backwards to give a little distance.

Fraxinella fared a little better. Continuous blast of flame wore out the Grimer until he was sent back into the Pokeball.

"Good work, Frax. Redirect those flames to the Poochyena." Yuuka ordered, to which the fiery moth larva agreed with a supportive flame blasts restricting the Poochyena's escape routes.

If Sherry were in a fight for her life against a dog, she would give ground enough for the animal to pounce her, then she would snap its neck when it lunged for the throat. Killing blows, she figured, were not permitted in Pokemon battles, but the tactics could be used. With a appreciative glance in Yuuka's direction, Sherry shouted out.

"Don't be reckless, Mac! Stand your ground!"

Mac clutched his wounded arm before giving it a shake. Just a flesh wound, he thought. He wanted to stand his ground, but to do so, he needed to assert his dominance. Disregarding his trainer's order, the Machop closed in on the Poochyena and brought down a karate chop.

John looked over to Koishi and thought about the question for a couple seconds. John had no real need to gain the badge from this gym, but if anything, it would increase his pokemons' power, decreasing the chance that he'll have to use his guns in the future.

"We should go defeat the gym leader. If anything, it gives our pokemon the practice they need.", John calmly said to Koishi.

"Oh, Roark? He's a nice guy. He let me sleep at his house since I had nowhere to stay. Though we were interupted by some gang of thugs at one point." Koishi explained.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

"I thnk it was some Team Anarchy, if I remember what they said. They fought pretty well too. Took out almost all of Roark's pokemon. Luckily Snow here is quite hardy." Koishi petted the side of Snow's head, making her make a sound similar to a purr.

John thought about this "Team Anarchy" for a moment. What were their goals? From what John could see from the name, they were possibly a chaotic militant group. They were possibly armed with guns, or maybe blades of some kind. John didn't really care about them enough to hunt them down, but if they attacked, he would need to be ready. If these men had guns, he would need his.

"Do you have any more intel on them?", John calmly asked Koishi.

"I think they sort of had a grudge gainst us after that as well." Snow said from atop Koishi's hat. "I think they said something about revenge..., or was it that bug guy, I don't remember. Point is, the don't really like us."

If these thugs had a grudge against Koishi, then they would soon meet up with the thugs. John din't feel threatened by a group of humans. He knew how to quickly dispatch humans. Of course, he would have to dispatch them in a non-lethal way, but it would be easy enough.

"Don't worry about them. They would be suicidal if they tried to attack us.", John said to Koishi.

Just as planned, the Poochyena thought. The only thing that gave Mac the advantage was his bulk. Acting in haste would lose that bulk, allowing Poochyena to use his speed to get by his side and attack his rear. The Poochyena sidestepped the Karate Chop, opened his mouth wide, and tried to bite Mac-

Until he was dowsed in flame. Fraxinella shot a wave of flame that incinerated the Poochyena. Fearing that prolonged battle would hurt his Pokemon permanently, Grunch retrieved Poochyena back into the Pokeball, conceding his defeat.

"Alright, alright, you can go in." Grunch sighed in defeat. "I can't guarantee that your Pokemon can stand against the rest of the team, though."

"Success!" Yuuka cheered. Fraxinella contently flew around Yuuka, fluttering small sparks of flame-like dust. "Let's go!"

Sherry felt relief wash over her. She and Mac had become the ones who needed the assistance, not Yuuka and Frax. The young woman rubbed her face in disgust at that, but she didn't do it for long. The battle was over and the reward was an ease of access. Dwelling on failures would have to wait; there was action afoot!

"Thanks for the help," Sherry said to Yuuka. She went over to Mac, uneasy about the thug. "Although you might not know it, little guy, I know a little more about close quarters combat than you do. Now come on, let me see your arm."

Mac blushed in embarrassment and offered his wounded arm to be sprayed by a potion solution. Sherry gave it the old one-two look over before standing up once again. She figured her Pokemon just might listen to her in the future, but it would be too soon in coming for her. The agent walked into the hideout, her eyes on the thug. She wasn't going to talk about plans or tactics when the enemy was nearby.

Hopefully Yuuka had a plan of her own, as Sherry didn't want to get into needless fights.

Lyrica's eye's narrowed as Mystia was knocked out by the attack. "Diggy, you're up!"
"Now I have even less options. Diggy doesn't stand a chance with what he can do...How can I beat him...?"

The hideout was composed of two dark rooms, with the farther room inhabited by two... no, three people. A small glass window let out a small bits of light and laughter into the closer room. Seems like there are two male and one female... all three sounded like they were in their mid 20s. The window was hazy with smoke, so only the silhouette of the thugs could be seen.

"Alright, let's see. There are 3 of them and 2 of us. We have the number's disadvantage..." Yuuka began formulating a plan. One that can grant them advantage. From the laughter and smoke inside, it was believable that they were smoking marijuana, and that could cause the trainers to have hallucinations and possibly make mistakes... but Yuuka did not want to take any chances. "It would be nice if we had a third member on our party..."

"You still have no chance." Trevor arrogantly declared. "Ralts, another Confusion!"

                                Ralts did not move.

"...Confusion. Come on, Ralts. We're supposed to battle here."

Trevor's Ralts harumphed and turned away. Trevor, grunting in annoyance, retrieved Ralts back into the Pokeball.

"Sorry. My Ralts was traded to me from another friend of mine... and since I don't have a badge, Ralts tend to ignore my commands..." Trevor explained. "Hate to admit it, but it's your victory."

"Good work." Leaf said calmly as Crystal sighed in relief. The boys, however, was flabbergasted. Trevor was supposed to be their ace...
