En route to San Francisco base via helicopter

most of the squad was ok except for the loss of the heavy weapons guys. The commander was calm as the other soldiers were having a nice talk about the last mission

"So what's the deal with that girl? for what I barely saw she doesn't use our gear or weaponry" the novice soldier asked to the group. Most of the others knew that the blonde was a silent woman who was a weapon specialist and extremely effective in action

Yet one of the group went for a cocky move "To me she isn't so great, sure she got a few kills and can move like a fox, and I bet ya she could move like that in other actions" he grinned as the group erupted in laughter. He continued "What's more, she lets some of those corrupts go away"

The commander then spoke up "That, lieutenant, is called giving mercy to the innocent, something most has lost during this firefights and I suggest you to give her the respect she deserves, we could have lost more of us if it wasn't because of her accepting this mission" his tone was powerful

"Oh come on she isn't that good, besides where is this girl?" the lieutenant asked

A tapping on his shoulder made the man gasp and looked at brown eyes that wore a neutral face "Whatever you need to tell me, do it on my face"

"Specialist Lynchwood, what an honor to grace us with your presence" the commander greeted the blonde who nodded in the same greet. The leutenant got on his feet but noticed that the woman was as the same height as him

"Lets see what you got blondie" In a quick move, he tried to pin her, but was reversed into a dead lock on his neck and pushed to the floor. Lynchwood got close to his ear, her golden locks graced his skin making goosebumps and shivered with her words "Remember soldier, we are fighting to save the innocent, not to shoot at whoever that moves"

Freeing the lieutenant, the specialist walked to her seat and started working on her rifle. The squad went silent with both nervousness and respect to the blonde while the commander grinned.
Have you ever crossed the line between sanity and madness? You would be amazed by what lies beyond the fog..

Nitro rolled her eyes. There were clients like this all the time: asking for something to be made from scratch in so little time. Coincidentally, they always call when she's on a break. How convenient.

"Listen pal, you picked a reaaaaal bad time to ask for a quote. You see, I'm in a party, and my favorite DJ's about to play, so why don't I call you back after that and then we can discuss, eh?"

"My eyes?", Ethan asked with a puzzled, yet slightly quizzical look on his face.

Ethan did not quite understand what Alex meant by seeing it in his eyes. What exactly did she mean? Could she actually tell something about someone by simply looking into their eyes? Ethan thought that such an idea was somewhat implausible yet interesting.

"Yes. I... usually have a hunch of what a person likes based on how their eyes are like." Alex said, her eyes meeting Ethan's. "Sometimes the person's eyes are so transparent I have a glimpse of everything that person wants in their lives. But yours..."

Alex tilted her head in slight confusion.

          "Your eyes are so clouded."

As Alex stared into Ethan's eyes, Ethan began to feel slightly nervous, although he tried not to show it. Of course, if Alex payed attention, she would be able to tell that there was something more to Ethan. Ethan had a feeling that when Alex said "clouded", she meant that they looked dead. He was actually a little afraid that she would be able to figure out that something bad happened to him, and after that, the questions would flow forth, and Ethan would be forced to answer them. He couldn't tell her or Nitro about his past. He couldn't tell them how his entire family died and that he was the sole survivor of a brutal massacre. What would they think of him? They would possibly become uncomfortable with him, maybe try to distance themselves from him, or even worse, be able to connect him to the vigilante he was planning to be. After all, nobody really wanted to be around a "downer" or a killer. Ethan knew that if he tried to change the topic, then Alex would surely know that there was something up with him, and it would be certain that she would pick up on it. If he wanted to ease himself out of this situation, he would have to pay it cool, try and act as if he was curious about her observation, try and make himself as unassuming as he could. He didn't know if he could pull it off, but he would try.

"Hmm. That's strange. Is it something that happens often?, Ethan asked Alex in a calm tone, hiding his apprehension as best he could.

"No, actually, it doesn't." Alex confessed, her gaze letting go of Ethan as it now fixated on the dance floor. "As a model I've met a lot of people. You are the only person with eyes who I've not been able to see through. Well there's also Nitro; I had to ask her physically what she liked."

Alex got up from the table and headed to the dance floor, her fingers coiling around the steel pole at the center. "Do you dance, Ethan?"

Ethan's tension quickly dissipated after Alex changed the subject. Sure, he probably wasn't doing the greatest job at trying to socialize with Alex, but as long as the attention was drawn off of his.. history, he would be fine with speaking. As for Nitro being the only other person to be "clouded", it brought it's own series of questions to mind. Why was she clouded? Was she like him? If so, what happened with her? Before Ethan could ask any questions about the matter, Ethan heard a question that caught him off guard, one that he probably should have expected, yet still neglected. Despite Ethan's initial surprise, he was still able to give an answer to Alex.

"Uh... no. It would be a crime against humanity if I danced.", Ethan said to Alex in a calm, yet slightly sheepish tone.

Alex laughed. She liked Ethan so far. He was handsome, but did not have the certain arrogance that other "handsome" men had. He had a sort of humble aura around him, but there was a hidden despair and burden in his character. It dawned on Alex that, while she could not grasp what happened, Ethan had a hidden past that impacted him very negatively, just like Nitro. Perhaps it's her duty to ease his pain, just like she did for Nitro.

"I don't mean to brag but... I can dance... a little bit." Alex swirled around the pole lightly, facing Ethan again and smiling sheepishly. "Do you wanna..."

As Alex said, people began pouring into the club in half-excited and half-judgmental stares. Alex took note of this and let go of the pole.

"Perhaps later." Alex commented as she wobbled back to the table.

As Alex lightly swirled around the pole, people began to pour into the club, prompting her to suddenly stop and come back to the table. Jason caught on to this and thought that perhaps Alex was shy when it came to dancing, at least when it came to large groups. With that in mind, Ethan asked her if she was indeed shy, albeit in the form of a remark than a question.

                    "People, huh?", Ethan asked Alex.

                      ???

All that could be heard was a choke followed briefly by a cracking noise.

"... Yes, yes, that would be magnificent. Please, take your time. But not to long, of course."

                      The phone hung up.

                      ...

                      "Pal?" he recalled.

He crushed the phone swiftly in one hand.

"WHO THE HELL IS SHE CALLING 'PAL?!'"

He punched a hole in the wall nearby. He left it there for a while until he gathered his bearings. He released the bits of cellphone into the hole and pulled his fist back out.

"... Ya know... you have to stop doing that..."

"But you know there aren't limitations anymore" Said... him?

"There's no justification still. You need to calm down. Otherwise, we'll be broke with your episodes."

"Okay..." Nitro stared at her phone, not expecting such an abrupt hangup. Not thinking of it much, she exited the bathroom to find her friends.

"Well, if you think about it, would it be good for my image if I pole danced in front of the public?" Alex giggled. The people began taking seats before hopping on the dance floor, looking around to flirt with strangers, or head to the bar to get a drink. Soft, ambient music began playing in the background.

Yea, you've got a point.", Ethan said to Alex, her previous statement actually eliciting a small chuckle from him.

As the club began to fill up with people, Ethan took notice and spoke.

"Looks like things are reaching full swing here.", Ethan said to Alex.

"Things will get a bit livelier now." Alex observed as Nitro found her two friends and sat next to Ethan. "Who was the caller?"

"A client." Nitro simply said as she sat down. Alex handed her a menu as Nitro went on. "Seriously, asking something so complex in such little time... what do they think I am, a miracle maker? Ooh, they have burgers here."

To be honest, Ethan was somewhat curious about what the client asked for, considering that Nitro used the word "complex" to describe it. He knew that it was possibly privilaged information, but if Ethan got his question answered, he could both gauge how skilled his new employer was in the field of engineering, as well as figure out what kind of work he would be doing in the future.

"If you don't mind me asking, what did the client ask for? I'm curious because it will show me what I am expected to build.", Ethan explained to Nitro, hoping that he would get more information on his job.

"A cloaking device." Nitro answered. "But not those mumbo-jumbo camo stuff they put on stealth planes nowadays. This cloaking device needs to be portable, which means I need a malleable refraction plating with seamless edge. I think a wristwatch or a pocketwatch of sorts might be the best to store such a device..."

All the technology jargon must've bored Alex, as she jumped out of her seat and went to the bar to order the food for herself, Nitro, and Ethan.
