That wouldn't work, for it is the act of changing something that may cause the blindness.
It would probably be something supernatural, a sort of penalty of breaking some unwritten rule that time manipulators must obey.
And I think it would be the premise "Somethings are meant to be."
Unfortunately it doesn't work in a general sense.

    ...actually it could.
Maybe the condition for blindness always happens whenever the timeline is altered, however, the severity of the change is reflected in the duration of the blindness. If you make a permanent change in the timeline, then you become permanently blind.

This could really add depth to Aion when he is Revere, because he has to be careful what he changes.
Now to maybe make it a bit more lenient, maybe if one sets up the changes to be gradual, then it will not cause blindness as severe. So it's a constant battle against time to gently coax it in a different direction...
...and that could make sense considering the entity of time is a beast. Big, sudden changes might anger the beast but gentle gradual changes might be more "acceptable."

So time manipulators have to be careful not to anger the beast of time.

...taking into account what I think might explain a primary limitation of those that manipulate time I think I've raised another question...
How far does the Beast of Time's influence reach?
I know time affects all...but... Something seems off, especially when looking at my previous concept...

...actually I don't know exactly what seems off but I look at the previous post and feel like something is off...

      EDIT:
Bigger problem: Aion's alias "Revere Exorco" doesn't make much sense now...
The name is based on the phrase: revered exorcist, and before it made sense as Aion was trying to draw out the alternate spirit that possessed his mortal body.
That's no longer the case as we've set Revere's primary reason for going back was to protect Selene...

Maybe both reasons? What ends is he trying to reach with each task?

With Selene, he's protecting her from Sol. As for being an exorcist, it wouldn't work on himself considering I'm not going to have 2 Aions running around now thus eliminating the original possibility...
So he has to be going after someone else...
          ...which might be...
          ...Aurora?

              Well
Considering Aion has a slight grudge against Aurora after she saves him when he was trying to protect Terrisa and therefore resulted in Terrisa's death, he might not have fully forgave what happened and due to the fact that he often refers to Aurora as a spirit without knowing that Aurora contains a part of Tina's spirit...
It might work in that regard...

So it's essentially just because he hates Aurora and wants her dead?

                      Not quite...
He dislikes Aurora for two/three reasons:
                      1. She was created by Cicero and he blames Cicero for everything because he initiated the start of the Phoenix Code.
                      2. She activated the Phoenix Code, causing him to lose everything in his perspective.
                      3. She saved him and not Terrisa.

Despite this, he doesn't absolutely hate her, in part because he believes there's more to Aurora than he originally thought. The whole spirit business could kick in here and explain that... Maybe.

What do you have in mind with the "spirit"?

Remembering the fact that Tina's spirit was "programmed" into Aurora via the Gaia Computer...
And that Aion doesn't know this exactly...
...Well I don't have anything particular in mind...
Tbh this is a part that would be tedious to work out in terms of "who knows what and when."

Well a start would be the characters from EotD (Cicero, Nero, Aion, Aetheron, Erebos, Aurora).
What each individual knows affects the group as a whole.
Cicero Nero and Aurora are one perspective while the others are another.
The hard part is factoring in where time travel is.
