Hoenn Region - Route 104 - 8:30 AM --> En Route to Petalburg City

Sherry picked a few leaves and bristles out of her hair as she walked out of Petalburg Woods via the southern exit. Rolling after every leap and bound from the multiple ledges in the woods was fun, but picking out the debris that came from the action was less so. The agent must have inherited Leon's vanity, or at least his self-consciousness. She dusted off her trousers and huffed a sigh of relief, glad to be out of the woods and back into the bright morning sun. Mac rolled his shoulders and beamed, humored by all the rolling his trainer went through.

The trainer looked out at the route she was on and caught a glimpse of what looked to be an Asian-styled dwelling overlooking the western beach. She had passed by here before, but she did not spend too much time inspecting her surroundings. Perhaps the person who commissioned that building was an old person in their retirement. Good view, Sherry thought to herself. She did not see the small dock that was built next to the building, for it was out of sight.

Turning her attention to the road, Sherry and Mac trudged forward once again. They stopped at a berry patch and picked themselves a few berries for the road, mostly Oran and Pecha berries. Sherry attributed the Pecha berry's taste to a strawberry, as it was very sweet. Mac didn't seem to enjoy Pechas as much as he did Oran berries, though. Sherry figured her new partner, Claire, would enjoy the berries, so she pocketed a few extra. With her berry pouch a little bigger, the agent turned south and made her way through the grasslands on her way to Petalburg City.

Aurelia splashed more mud into Growlithe, causing him to choke, spasm, and spit Barboach out of his mouth. He was growing weak: his fiery nature did not suit well with mud. But his loyalty also prevented him from backing away from the battle. The Growlithe rumbled and howled, raising his spirit.

Petalburg City was a tranquil little village by the sea. Briny sea breeze gently swept the village as the villagers went on with their lives. Kids went to school, adults busied themselves with work, and elderly enjoyed their peace in retirement. Occasionally, trainers would walk about, looking for Pokemon to catch and other trainers to battle.

"Shall we try training today, Lilac?" Yuuka asked the Eevee perched on her shoulder, who mumbled her agreeance to Yuuka.

"Hold it! You're asking Lilac, but not me?" Yuuka's Lotad, Kappa, complained.

      "Oh I'm sorry." Yuuka laughed.

"No matter. I was going to agree anyway." Kappa grumbled.

Koishi cleaned up Roark's room (as she was a rowdy sleeper) and had Wiggly go in a pokeball, while Snow perched herself on top of Koishi's hat. She left the room and closed the door, heading out the front door to get a little fresh air and maybe a little walk.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

"What I'm saying is that you should... Well..." Sherry searched for the words to explain a tactic for her Machop. The little pokemon looked up at her with a sarcastic expression. "Have you ever heard of Street Fighter? Oh, wait, no... Of course you haven't. Darnit... Well, I'll explain it to you later."

Sherry had decided to pass a little time explaining a new tactic to her partner, but she wasn't a wordsmith like Leon was. How could she incorporate attacking from blindspots when most arenas and battlegrounds for pokemon had no hiding spots? Unless she put disorientation into the picture, there wasn't a way she could describe it properly. She wasn't a fighter either, not like Jake Muller. Sighing, Sherry reached for Machop's pokeball and enlarged it.

"Mind if I take Claire out for awhile?" she asked her partner.

Mac shrugged, nonchalantly answering yes. After the pecking done to him by the Taillow, he figured he could use the rest in stasis. Sherry reclaimed the Machop, enveloping him in a red light that warped back into the pokeball. She felt the pokeball grow a little heavier as Mac re-entered it. I've got to ask Devon Corp. about this tech, Sherry thought to herself as she swapped Mac's ball out for Claire. With the press of the button, she summoned forth the newest member of her team.

The little Taillow named Claire chirped and looked everywhere from her perch on Sherry's hand. When she noticed she was touching her trainer, she hopped off and hovered just out of arm's reach. Sherry, disheartened but not beaten by this behavior, reached into her berry pouch and pulled out a Pecha berry. She smiled and gestured for the Taillow to approach, and, when Claire did, she offered her arm. The bird touched down on the limb and stared at Sherry through narrowed eyes, but she could not resist the pull of a new berry to taste.

"It's alright. I said I'd show you a lot of berries and make you strong, right? Eating healthily is one big step towards getting stronger!" Sherry offered the berry to the bird and watched as Claire nabbed the pink fruit. She giggled when Claire climbed her way onto her shoulder and made her perch there. "Good thing you're not a Mesets," she said absentmindedly.

The agent walked forward into Petalburg City from the west entrance and smelled the briny air that wafted through it. It certainly was a bustling place at this time of day, and Sherry counted herself lucky that she got here in good time. She set off with Claire on her shoulder to find someone to talk to, someone who knew if there were boats nearby that could take her to Dewford Town. If everything went according to plan, she would be in Dewford Town before the day ended. But since when did everything go as planned for the fledgling agent turned Pokemon trainer?

Almost immediately after Chung had his more than embarrassing encounter with Yuuka who had gotten out of the shower Chung took off out of the room without a second thought after she told him to leave. He had gone outside into the front yard and sat down on the doorstep where he proceeded to cross his legs. "Oh dear god that was unexpected as all hell!" He said as he sighed. "Damn I can't seem to get a break in this world can't I?" He said to himself as he continued to sit there at the doorstep of Violet's family's home.

"Oh crap I left my Pokemon inside their Pokeball's... and worst of all... I think I left them back in the room. I guess I'm going to have to get them after Yuuka gets done." He said as he looked up at the morning sky.

A white tanktop, check. Low-cut red skinny jeans, another check there. How about this red baseball cap to match her pants? Definite yes. Sure Yuuka was going out for an adventure, but that does not mean that she can't look alluring and fashionable, right?

As she left the attic, slung on her back her red clutch, Yuuka wondered: Will she ever come back to the Wilton's? Surely, she was going on a quest to conquer the Hoenn League, but will she come back?

Courtesy is a must for Yuuka, with or without Youkai strength, so Yuuka left a note on the dining table, took all of her belonging: clothes, cosmetics, and convenient items crammed into a small carrier Yuuka bought at the bazaar yesterday, and took off. As she left, she noticed Chung sitting by the doorstep. She blushed and waved at him, asking. "What are you doing, sitting out here?"

The city was busy with coal miners with lumpy shoulders attending to work at the mine. Rows of workers with grave, stoic faces descended into the entrance of the mine a mile away, and the wives bid them safety as they watched from afar; while children at school were receiving basic education required for them to pursue their own career, which would most likely be coal miner as well.

"Good morning Koishi!" Roark greeted Koishi from the front of the gym, his mining helmet and pickaxe all ready to go. "Hope you had a good sleep."

Chung looked up at Yuuka, a small blush was still on his face. "Oh hey. Sorry about... earlier. I'm just sitting out here, because I was waiting for you to get done so I can go back in and get my stuff. I mean you did kick me out quite quickly... I was also sort of... afraid of what would happen if I went back inside..."

"Great job, Aurelia! Now it's time to finish this," Sekibanki exclaimed, not realizing that the Barboach was almost done for. "Ooh," Aurelia weakly emitted, before preparing for another Mud-Slap. Sekibanki got the message. She said, "You can have a Potion, Aurelia, if you hit his Growlithe." That promise of a reward was just what Aurelia needed.

"Excuse me, do you know of anybody with a boat who can ferry me to Dewford?" Sherry asked a businessman who was waiting for a bus.

"Sorry, I don't know of anybody like that," the businessman replied with a shrug.

Sherry nodded and watched as the man turned back to his laptop and coffee. So far, nobody she talked to knew of someone who could ferry her to Dewford Town. Perhaps she had been talking to the wrong people, or maybe she was asking questions when everyone was busy going to school or work. Either way, she could not get a good answer out of anyone. She aspired to ask the elderly, who knew much about the city, or stop in at a Pokecenter. Sometimes there were notices pinned up on a bulletin board there.

She looked to Claire for advice, but, when finding that the Taillow had nothing to give, Sherry sighed and went towards the center of the city to search for better sources of information.

Motioning Chung to enter the house, Yuuka left the area towards the center of the city. The bulletin board there should have requests for Yuuka to fulfill.

The center of the city was a bustling place of leisure for the town. On the side, there was a ping-pong table for young and old to show off their table-tennis skills. A large clearing next to the table was for Pokemon battles. A bulletin board, made simply out of scrap woods hammered together by nails produced in the local factory, stood next to the Pokemon center.

"Let's see..." Yuuka stood next to the girl with short blonde hair looking at the bulletin board. "Ah, someone's looking for a lost Wingull, huh... requestor's named Captain Briny..."

As soon as Sekibanki was done though, Growlithe bit her on the arm! "Iiiiiee!," she cried out. The Puppy Pokemon's Bite wasn't very strong, but it still hurt.

"Captain Briny?" Sherry repeated as she looked over at the notice. She figured the Captain part of his name meant he had a vessel, not that he was in the service. "Well, that's as close as I'm going to get..."

The agent rubbed her chin in thought. The opportunity was good, but Sherry would have loved for more options. What if the man had nothing to his name and was just an old man in town? There was no need to be cynical just yet, Sherry thought to herself. If someone needed a hand finding a lost pokemon, then she figured she could go out of her way to help out. Leon would do the same, always making time to save someone even if he was on a strict time limit. "Make the time", he always growled.

"Do you think this Captain Briny has a boat?" she asked the woman next to her.

Her brow furrowed when she noticed the green hair of the woman beside her hidden under a red ballcap. It furrowed even more when Sherry noticed the red irises. It reminded her too much of a sick person, or an infected zombie. T-Virus to be specific, not that airborne C-Virus zombie.

Yuuka looked over to the bulletin board again, and added: "But then, wackjob or not, he must have a boat, even if it's old and rickety. Captainship doesn't come easy."
