    Scarlet Devil Mansion

Another smaller boom was heard as Koakuma neared the source.

"Goddamn gunpowder." the voice could be identified as belonging to Remilia. "Sakuya, could you fetch me another towel to clean up this soot?"

"But of course." came the simple reply.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.

You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

Koakuma heard the mistress of the mansion's voice and relaxed a little. So, the booming was the result of the vampire fiddling with the Bombinomicon some more. The little devil figured the echoes would not carry over to the library and awake her mistress, so it was right to assume that this was none of her concern. Yet, curiosity was one of Koakuma's best and worst traits. She fiddled with the hem of her dress and patted herself off as she got out from a hallway pillar.

She heard the voice of Sakuya and brightened up. Although the maid wasn't the most expressive member of the SDM 'family', she was a servant just like Koakuma. There were times where their paths crossed or they had to cooperate to complete a task when Meiling was unable to help, which was more often than one would think. Servants, like masters, confided in each other and get each other through some tough times. Koakuma steeled herself and moved towards the source of Remilia's cursing.

"R-Remilia-oujo-sama," Koakuma stuttered, making sure to be out of the way yet in Remilia's line of sight. "Do you require assistance?"

Remilia looked over as she cleaned soot off her face.

"Ah, Koa, rare to see you around here. Come in, if you want, i'm just trying to get this book to cooperate." Remilia glared at the book in question, then sighed. "I could use some help to clean up this place, though."

"Yes mistress," Koakuma answered. She scrambled over to the 'young' mistress and looked for a broom. "Patchouli-sama is sleeping at the moment. I was curious as to what you were doing."

The little devil spared a glance at the Bombinomicon and shook her head as it went off on a string of mindless prattle about a cursed greatsword, sitcoms, and drunken grandmothers. She didn't know why Patchouli had such a dangerous book in her possession, as it could cause so much trouble when free, but she figured it had to do with the mistress's love of collecting. A library wasn't a library without books, dangerous or not. Koakuma found a broom in a nearby supply closet and went to work sweeping up soot. Occasionally she would put an item back into place and rearrange furniture that was blown away.

"Well, if you must know, it's a security system as a backup for Meiling, since she has a habit of not being able to keep that pesky black and white witch out." Remilia explained. "That, and a fireworks system."

Koakuma nodded, understanding that this was one of many attempts to replace Meiling. So far, every member of the Scarlet Devil Mansion family had come up with some kind of solution, be it a scarecrow, intelligent guard, or dog, but all found some way to backfire. Meiling wasn't a bad guard, she was just... unmotivated. Like a boulder on a hill, once the guard got going, nothing could stop her. The little devil hissed in pain when she overextended her right arm and strained her wound. She clasped the gauze and exhaled before shaking her head.

              "Fireworks, mistress?" Koakuma asked.

                Wriggle's House

"Alright. I'll see you at the festival in Human Village."

Mystia waved back at Wriggle as she took the food cart and left to her house with a renewed determination. At the second floor, Wriggle introduced Mystia to an outside world video game called Leaguue of Legend, to which Mystia found a liking to. The assortment of characters, ranging from a charming nine-tailed fox to an armored shadow ninja, piqued Mystia's interest. And in order to play the game, she needs a computer... Which means she need money...

"I hope this is a right idea..." Mystia groaned as she began thinking about what menu items to serve the now-customers.

                  Myouren Temple

Figuring all was done for the day, Byakuren turned to re-enter her temple when her head jerked up. Of course! Seeing the drunken ship captain had brought out the motherly instinct in the monk, but it had almost made her forget something important. Back in the human village was a package for the temple and the good captain, one that was supposed to be picked up. Byakuren had tried to make it so that the package would be delivered, but none of the humans had the strength to carry it. Perplexed, yet defeated, Byakuren decided she would have to go there at some point and lug home a hefty gift of sorts.

Remembering this out of the blue and mentally berating herself for forgetting, Byakuren reached for her sandals and trudged down the steps of the temple with a spring in her step. While perturbed at her own forgetfulness, Byakuren soon became enamored with ideas as to what the package could contain. It wasn't often that the temple received such generous donations, and even less common were gifts for the temple's 'staff' to use. If it was a sizable amount of money, Byakuren wouldn't hesitate to put it into the offering box and use it for goodwill, but if it was a gift meant for her and the others... Well, she would get to that impasse when she got to it.

Starting out on the path back to the human village, Byakuren Hijiri smiled and took one last look at her temple before picking up her pace.

Scarlet Devil Mansion - Voile Library

While Koakuma and the rest of the inhabitants were ignorant of Patchouli Knowledge save for the knowledge that she was sleeping at the moment, the renowned bookworm was doing so much more than sleeping. Had the little devil been there to tend to her mistress, she would have blushed deep red to know what the purple mage was whispering in her sleep. Uninhibited conscious thoughts drifted through Patchouli's mind, no mental gate to stop something from being voiced. She ran through complex algorithms, proposed interesting plans, and even recounted an entire short story as she snored. But, the most perplexing thing were the numerous Freudian slips that fell from her lips.

She cursed a dragon, a thief, and a miko before her muffled tone softened to an amorous one, and a goofy smile graced her lips as she whispered inane things about her servant and a select few others...
