Byakuren noticed Yuugi over the top of her coffee and felt her heart race. She wasn't expecting to see the informant so soon after last night. Did something happen, was another body found, was the woman in danger? These questions swam through Byakuren's mind, but she had to keep calm. If she lost her head and spoke freely, she could, well, lose her head.

She nodded and gestured towards the empty booth across from her.

"You're not a bother. Feel free to sit down," Byakuren said with a smile. "And good evening to you as well."

Yuugi couldnīt help but smile at how the detective reacted to her entrance, but she waved her hand "Before anything, there arenīt new bodies. But I got some information related to the scarlet mafia" She said sitting on the chair

"Seeing that face, you are eager for information, I donīt have much, but its something I gathered yesterdayīs night" the oni said while twisting her neck to relax "The girl was a fairy called Sally who had to take a loan from the scarlets, the group used her home as a stash to hide their drinks and some other materials for what I could see and smell in the apartment. The week that the girl didnīt pay, they sent the red haired woman, surely someone of a good rank to deal with her thus the hole in her head and the cleaned place since they wanted to do a simple job that went wrong" Yuugi spoke about it and took a piece gum from her pocket

"The scarlet mafia is big and has many asociates around the city, but their boss is like a fort, I only got the title of "The Lady". You already know about the red-head, tall as me, and her rank, but Im sure that she is just a soldier following orders from a higher person, going to the streets just for an apartment shows she leads the grunts for what I can thorize. what I still am trying to collect is information about the group, but grunts wonīt talk I find one"" the oni finished

Byakuren took in the information like a sponge. She was pleased to know that Yuugi had kept herself safe, and even more to know that she had gathered some useful information. The detective knew who Sally Leafwing was by now and had guessed correctly about her 'crime'. A loan was a hard thing to carry out, and even harder to maintain. If the banks hadn't declined her requests, she may still be alive.

This Meiling was not someone to brush off lightly. If the redhaired woman was acting of her own volition, then the city was host to a brutal criminal who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted. But as Yuugi said, Meiling was working for the Scarlet Devil Mafia. Her brutality and tenacity were probably the result of being stressed and her wanting to get her jobs done as quickly as possible. Whoever held Meiling's leash had to know of her skills, and if so, they were more dangerous than her for being in control.

Byakuren frowned when she heard of what she was getting into. If the Scarlet Devil Mafia really was something to be trifled with, then the detective would have to watch her step more closely than before. She took some relief in knowing that she had many paths to take in getting additional information, such as finding out the identity of the purple-haired friend and the silver-haired bodyguard. She would have to seek out the friend and avoid the second-in-command. Luckily, if Yuuka's information was on the money, spotting the members of the Mafia's higher echelon would be easy enough.

Then, there was the lady in charge of it all: Remilia Scarlet. Byakuren didn't know much about her other than that she was born into money and had deep pockets. The detective would do well to stay out of said pockets, even if they had her vices inside.

"Remilia Scarlet," Byakuren repeated. She nodded once. "Thank you, Yuugi. This is valuable information. I think I'll pursue this purple-haired woman that you speak of." The woman smiled wide and giggled. "I suppose it shouldn't be too hard to spot my quarry. Oddly colored hair is quite conspicuous."

"If you are searching for more information, seek for books, the libraries always have something good to find, even people" Yuugi spoke already thinking on what would be the next hit from the mafia

Hearing about oddities and how to find the detective, the oni couldnīt help but laugh "I think it would be easier for you to find me instead, you may have some color change on your hair, but I got something that brings more.. attention" she said touching her horn

"Anyways, Im going to the library to see something of interest, and maybe get some information" she got up and waved at the detective "See you around detective" Yuugi said and walked out of the building

"Yeah," Byakuren sighed as she watched Yuugi leave. She looked into her empty coffee cup for a moment before mumbling, "See you around."

In her heart, the detective didn't know if she meant those words to be ironic or not, and for whom? Yuugi looked to be strong and stubbornly rooted to her ideals, but did she have the will to live up to? More importantly, did Byakuren have what it took to do what her predecessors could not? The answer was going to be a flat 'of course', and to hell with those who said otherwise. Empowered, Byakuren stood up from her table and left the restaurant.

She tugged at her coat and scratched her head as she looked out on the streets around her. Even with the blockade, there were still people willing to work to pass the time. Traffic was barely affected and neither were the local businesses. The tourist season had passed, and now only the locals and stragglers remained. Byakuren figured that the blockade did some good here and there, but in the grand scheme of things, it needed to be lifted.

"Not before the crime plummets," Byakuren breathed before crossing the street. "Yuugi can have her libraries for now. I'm going to check in on the department..."

Byakuren made her way towards the Gensoka City police department. Her objective? To check in on any new information gathered on the Sally Leafwing case, tend to paperwork, and meet with fellow members of the force for any news or threats.

The lobby of Gensoka City Police Department was crisp and clean, with marble floor and wall devoid of any fancy ornaments except for the logo of the Police Department at the far end, looming over the front desk where Martha Burnes, secretary of the Department and the front desk counterwoman, kept watch.

"Good morning, Miss Hijiri." Martha greeted the detective with the same warm smile she gave to everyone. "How is your day today?"

Suddenly, Komachi walked in. But her hair is a mess. Her buttons aren't done right and her eyes were red. Normally, she's tired every morning, but today was just a mess. She had been up all night doing overtime in order to fix things up not only with the mentally assaulted man, but with the murder of the fairy. She walked up to the counter and noticed Byakuren.

"Uh, hey Byakuren. Whudd're ya... *yawn*... Mm, doin' here?" She barely managed to let escape her mouth.

Gensoka City Police Department - Hominis - Gensoka City @Wonder/Wriggle

The police department was rather modest for its time, but so were many of the officers who worked there. There wasn't much glory in being an officer of the law, not like it was in the west where the criminals were bloodthirsty and the land treacherous. Here, there were only men who worked in opposite ends of the great morality spectrum. Byakuren patted down her coat and noticed the front counter with the secretary, Martha Burnes. Allowing a smile to grace her lips, the detective gave a small wave.

"Good morning to you as well, Ms. Burnes," Byakuren greeted as she ruffled her hair and approached the counter. She shrugged and rapped her fingers on the wooden surface. "My day could always be better. Still, I like where it's going, and I hope it continues. And the same goes for you as well."

Byakuren noticed Komachi walk into her vision and couldn't help but stare. She looked like a mess, but a calculative and observant mess nonetheless. Perhaps she had been up all night searching for information on that one case she mentioned, the one about the psychological assailant who always gave her the slip. Every good man had an enemy who taunted and eluded them, and it seemed that Komachi found hers. With a firm, reassuring hand placed on the redhead's shoulder, Byakuren leaned in.

"Miss Onozuka, have you slept since the last I saw you?" she asked.

Yuugi was taking her time to examine what books would be of interest to the best friend of the crime mistress of the mafia, but there thousands of books "I can start by looking at the people, some might be citizens but others.." she trailed off examining each person.

The most obvious way to know someone was on a job of risk was desperation. Heavy breathing, sweating easily, fidgeting from time to time, those were some of the symptoms of desperation. So the oni sat on a chair while reading a book.

From the people around there was this person who had some symptoms. Eyes alerted, tight jaw, and hands shivering "Bingo, now letīs see what you want boy" she said to herself as the person took a notepad and wrote the bookīs name "Psychology of the human being" was the title.

("Time to act") Yuugi thought getting up and walked towards the bokshelf as the man left with his notepad. The oni took the book and rented it 2Letīs see how you react my test subject" she smiled evily

The Lady's Quarters - Scarlet Manor - Outside of Gensoka City | Morning

Patchouli slightly froze where she stood. She knew from personal experience not to question her friend but something didn't feel right about what had happened on the night before. Because of this, the room was filled with an awkward silence between the two. Even The Lady gave her up on her patience and spoke up.
"Well? What is it, Patchouli? What is it that you really need to talk about?" She said in a very impatient tone. Patchouli felt pressured but she knew what she had to say. And now she was caught between a rock and a hard place. Either turn her back against her friend and boss by not talking or question The Lady's decisions and potentially annoy her. Eventually Patchouli made her decision.
"My lady, I heard that you sent Meiling on a debt collection. But I must ask something. If the job was a simple debt collection, why was Meiling needed? Unless-" Patchouli replied. But her question and argument was cut short as The Lady interrupted her with her giggling. It appeared that either something that Patchouli said had made her laugh or that she was having one of those moments. Patchouli didn't want to find out which.
"Ah, Patchouli... It appears you already worked it out, haven't you? I knew what was going to happen. That... fairy was merely a means to an end. She was going to die at some point. We just needed to get our word across and what better way than with her." The Lady replied in a very somber tone. Initially Patchouli was gravely confused by what she meant. But as Patchouli thought about what she was going to say, it hit her. The job wasn't a debt collection. It was outright murder. The Lady had sent Meiling to that fairy with the direct intent on murder. And for what cause? To get her word across? To make her more well known? It explains as to why Meiling came out of it so surprised and worn out. She didn't know that she would kill and yet she did anyway. This fact shocked Patchouli. Of course, Meiling and the others had done things like this in the past. But it was usually on their own accord and for other means. But this was something else.
"My lady, I... I don't know what to say to that!" Patchouli replied in a surprised and shocked manner.

Byakuren gave Komachi a pat on the shoulder before releasing her. So, there were many detectives around who were overworked or stressed as a result of the cases they've taken on. The auburn-haired detective chuckled at that. Join the club, she thought. Komachi seemed used to being overworked as she straightened up and relaxed. It was good to know that there were those who weren't broken so easily.

"Yes. I'm just looking into our resources for anyone who may be acquainted with our Sally Leafwing in this city," Byakuren explained. "I sent a letter to her family, but I doubt they'll be able to help much."

The detective turned back to Martha Burnes and placed her hands on the counter.

"Miss Burnes, is the chief of police in?"

There was some new information to share with the force about the Scarlet Devil Mafia, courtesy of Miss Yuugi...

(( Note to self: Byakuren doesn't know about Remilia, only this 'Lady'. Knows Meiling. ))

The content was about how the human brain worked and that it could be affected by the emotions of the person. The oni focused on the emotional part and kept reading. The emotions could actually damage the brain if there was an emotional explosion or assault caused by something that would be of great importance by the person be it too good like the bliss of ecstacy or as bad as seeing your own death

("Wait.. didnīt the the red haired detective spoke about mentally assaulted people? this might be of help for her") Yuugi thought getting up and quikly went to the police department

She hit the ground running all the time. "Mountain District. If you go now, you would be able to catch up with her."

Byakuren weighed her options. Either sit and wait with her records and information, or go out and confront the Chief of Police with what she knew. There was a bad taste in Byakuren's mouth when she thought of confronting her. Her ambitions had earned her many odd looks and cold shoulders in the past, and she feared the Chief of Police was amongst those Byakuren was not on solid ground with. Taking her chances, the detective gave a nod to Martha and turned to Komachi.

"Then my path is clear," Byakuren murmured. "Komachi, you can come along if you'd like, but I would recommend that you get some rest. I'll catch up with the Chief."

The auburn-haired detective wondered what case the Chief was pursuing, and if it had any relation to her own. Given that she had called for aid last night in the Sally Leafwing situation, it seemed plain as day that the Chief knew of her doings.
