"My name is Byakuren Hijiri. I'm a detective with the Gensoka Police Department," Byakuren said with a smile. "You're the one who found all those bugs in your travels, the ones that help fight off diseases. Because of one of your discoveries, a good friend of mine still has their life."

While Byakuren didn't have all the information, she was certain that the product of an insect discovered by Wriggle had helped to preserve the life of a member of the force. Without it, the infection brought on by the rustiest and most jagged of shanks would have claimed the service member's life. Byakuren didn't like losing members of the force, let alone friends after the death of her brother, so having a scientist she could thank was a welcome occasion.

"I should be the one to thank," Wriggled nodded. "To the doctors that use my discoveries to save lives. I'm glad my works are being used for a good cause."

"Here are your Eggs and Fried Potato." Mystia served a delectable-looking dish of well-cooked eggs and cubed potatoes fried to crispy perfection in vegetable oil. "Your coffee will be ready in a minute: I'm still grinding the coffee beans. Please do wait!"

The Lady's Quarters - Scarlet Manor - Outside of Gensoka City | Morning

After sufficient searching, Patchouli found The Lady in her room. The Lady stood in front of the window in the room, gazing outwards upon the city of Gensoka. The light from the window obscured Patchouli's vision but Patchouli knew that it was her.
"My lady, I need to ask you something. It's about what happened last night." Patchouli spoke up. The Lady didn't even flinch or move upon hearing Patchouli's voice. Was she expecting her? The Lady stepped away from the window and turned to face Patchouli. Patchouli gazed upon The Lady as she stepped towards Patchouli. The same as always. Short pastel-purple hair, a youthful and almost childlike physique, and deep red eyes.
"Ah, Patchouli. Good morning. I didn't expect you to be up so early." The Lady replied. Her voice emulating a tone of kindness and surprise. Patchouli could easily see through it but did not wish to tell her about it or show any signs that she knew. The Lady's voice was a very unusual one for a person of her... appearance. It was formal yet had a bit of childishness. Serious yet relaxed. It was uncertain on what her nationality was. British? French? Eastern European? Patchouli could never tell. Most of the people that Patchouli knew had immigrated into the US from numerous countries. Patchouli herself being from Germany.
"I didn't get much sleep last night, my lady." Patchouli replied.
"Ah, I see... Well, what is that you wish to talk about?" The Lady asked.

Outside the Scarlet Manor - Outside Gensoka City | Morning

The argument between Sakuya and Meiling escalated rather quickly since Patchouli had left. As a result, Sakuya used her authority and rank to have Meiling kicked out of the manor until she had calmed down. It did not mean that Meiling was out of a job, it just meant that Sakuya did not trust Meiling as much she would like to. Meiling, frustrated with how Sakuya outright kicked her out of the manor, stormed off and took her Ford for a drive. She needed somewhere to relax and pass off some steam. Maybe she would hit a nearby Speakeasy? Or maybe she would find one of her associates and speak with them for a bit? Wherever she was going, no-one knew.

"Doctors are in your debt, and so am I," Byakuren said with a smile to Wriggle.

It was so nice to have pleasant company for a change! Byakuren noticed the waitress from before come back and hand off her food, and she gave her thanks. Her breakfast was simplistic yet delectable, just like Byakuren's mother would have made. Nothing like diced potatoes to brighten your day and fill you up!

"Keep up the discoveries, Miss Nightbug." As she turned to get back to her table with her plate, the detective repeated Wriggle's last name to herself like a mantra. Then, as if she realized something, she looked back to Wriggle. "Pardon me, but would you happen to know a Sally Leafwing?" she asked as she sat down near Wriggle.

"Sally... Leafwing?" Wriggle raised her eyebrow. "Sounds like a fairy's last name. No I do not know anybody like that. Why do you ask, detective?"

Byakuren shrugged as she ate a mouthful of potatoes. She was curious if a Nightbug would know a Leafwing, seeing as their last names were of a similar pattern, but assuming too much would be bad at this point.

"Mmm... Young Sally Leafwing was murdered last night, and I suspect the Scarlet Devil Mafia is involved. I saw a redheaded woman in a green dress leave the scene of the crime before moving in, and I've come to learn that she is part of the organization." Byakuren shook her head. "However, I have no concrete evidence that pins the organization or woman to the crime. For all I know, this Meiling woman could have been in the right place at the wrong time."

It felt strange to be defending a criminal, but Byakuren didn't have all her facts straight. Criminal or not, everyone deserved a fair trial and a fair line of reasoning.

"Ah. My condolences." Wriggle sighed in honor as Mystia arrived with a freshly brewed coffee. "Scarlet Devil Mafia, you say? I heard they're up to no good recently... Do you think this is a prelude? Or just a regular routine gone horribly wrong?"

Yuugi was enjoting her coffee as she was strolling through the street "I got to find about those two groups.. the scarlets sometimes like to show they are the powerful group, and then that mind assaulting one hasn´t leave a hair of what the underground knows less than nothing.." she said to herself and finished her drink

The oni sighed and threw the vase into a trashcan "Aw hell.. I will surely find something sooner or later" she said walking forward

"As far as I can tell, Miss Nightbug, this was a regular routine if this was the Mafia's doing," Byakuren answered. She thanked Mystia for the coffee and took a sip before returning to her thoughts. "Miss Leafwing, from what I've gathered from the landlord and a few associates, was in debt and struggling to earn a penny. The blockade had hit her hard, and when she went to the bank, it declined her. But the Mafia said yes, and when she could not repay their services, they took her life as payment."

Byakuren paused to take care of a few bites. For the price of eating here, the food was something else. There was something in the potatoes, Byakuren thought, that made them divine. Seasoned salt, perhaps?

"If a group makes an exception for just one person, they have to follow through with others. The death of Sally Leafwing was a message." Byakuren looked up from her meal. "Your money or your life."

"Ah, how world runs on money." Wriggle sighed as she took a bite on her food. As usual, Mystia's food was beyond excellent. "I'm thinking of doing some philantrophic acts after a meeting in Oslo, to help the community. Road repairs... Maybe a public library."

Yuugi sat on a bench and looked at the places around her "Interesting district we have here" she said to herself while looking at the many business of varied elements. Despite the prohibition and mafia wars. The people of Gensokya managed to have a good day.

Noticing the restaurant with the title of "Moineau" the oni couldn´t help but see the detective enjoying some breakfast with what looked like a friend of hers. She decided to talk to the detective later to not interrupt the auburn haired woman´s time of peace.

("When she finishes I´ll talk to her, this information might be of use to her") the oni thought and looked at some flowers that had yellow petals "You would have liked to see this piece of the old times.." she barely said remembering a lost memory

"Both of those options sound good for the city, Miss Nightbug," Byakuren concurred.

She went back to her meal and ate at her own pace, neither asking for conversation nor shunning it. In her mind, she went over what she knew of the Leafwing in relation to the Mafia. In their eyes, she was but a simple target or mark who failed to deliver on time. But for Byakuren, Sally was a person who had a life and a dream, and being ripped from both of them was a crime in itself. Finished with her meal, Byakuren wiped her mouth and went to nurse her coffee.

"As for me, supplying justice for the people of this city is my philanthropy..."

"One way or another." Wriggle said, standing up as she was finished with her meal. She left a large tip in addition to the normal food cost and began to leave, but not before saying to Byakuren: "Be careful, officer."

"Same to you, Miss Nightbug," Byakuren replied with a smile and a nod.

She sat back and watched Wriggle leave before taking another sip of her coffee. What a kind, enigmatic individual, Byakuren thought. It wasn't often that someone with class and money went out of their way to better the lives of others. It didn't matter if Wriggle was just expanding the market or providing herself with more outlets for capitalist gain, as long as she was contributing to society and helping those less fortunate than her, everything was lovely and fine. Hell, the woman could have a moonshine still in her basement and Byakuren wouldn't think any less of her. With those thoughts aside, the detective paid for her meal and gave a 20% tip for Mystia.

This was nice, Byakuren thought as she searched for happiness in her cup of coffee.

Yuugi noticed that the green haired woman was leaving the detective and she waited for a bit so Byakuren could relax "Well then, let´s get this show started" she said standing up and walking towards the restaurant

Entering the building, the oni looked at everyone with a calm face and went towards the Auburn haired woman. "Good day detective, may I bother you with a conversation?" she greeted her still in her calm mood
