Team Magma HQ - Mt. Chimney

If it wasn't for the ski lift and the tourists who came to gawk at a bunch of concession stands and common Pokemon, the volcano would be a fine place to sit and meditate. For Juri, many hours were spent up at the summit meditating or training by herself. Hearing Cipher mention Domino and her plan of action made the Korean roll her eyes in disgust. Couldn't this wait, she thought. Apparently not, given the look on the grunt's face.

"I suppose I should let him know what's what, but he should know the general stuff," Juri mumbled. "Alright, lead on. The sooner I talk to him the sooner I can have me-time."

"Domino must be waiting in his office. I'll lead you to there." Domino said as the door to the hideout opened. Inside the hideout, the first thing Juri could see was a long hallway with machines piled around and Magma grunts walking about, doing their own works. As Cipher took Juri to the farthest room in the hideout, he stopped and turned his head towards Juri. "By the way... I have something to tell you."

"Domino has been acting oddly recently. He's planning something, and it doesn't look good. Careful."

It was good to see that this new rendition of Team Magma was well-fitted for future projects. Juri wasn't too keen on all matters tech, and while she had little to no experience with the eggheaded scientific aspects of Team Magma, she could respect the power and capabilities of the machinery. That said, she occasionally fouled a machine up just for kicks when she could get away with it. When Cipher stopped at the farthest room in the hideout and spoke to her, Juri felt confused.

"Planning something? Aren't we all?" she shot back with a sarcastic raise of her brows. Juri rubbed the side of her face and nuzzled her jaw for a moment. "Ugh... You know I hate to say this, but this isn't any of my business. I've got my own stuff to worry about," she said as she glanced down at her Purloin.

But still, the woman thanked Cipher for the headsup. She slapped his shoulder and disappeared into Domino's office to see him.

          "Ms. Juri Han. Welcome back."

Domino's office was adorned with mostly black and red: with black leather couch, redwood furniture, and velvet marble floor. At the far end sat the local executive, Domino, his face obscured by the darkness of the room. Next to him, a small fire revealed the form of Domino's Charmeleon, sneering at Juri as she entered the office. Behind Domino rested a large glass window: the only other source of light in the room.

"I believe some explanations are due." Domino leaned back on his chair, revealing his face a bit. He looked younger than he sounded: he barely looked like he was in his early 30s, but his voice tone sounded like someone who had enough experience to be in his late 40s. Other than his face, he wore a velvet pinstripe suit with black linings across his sleeves. "What happened after the call? I hope you were not compromised?"

Juri was tempted to sneer at Domino, but she couldn't risk the repercussions of a sarcastic demeanor. When in the field she could mock the man all she wanted, but now that she was in his presence, she had to watch her mouth. It displeased her that she had to act a certain way around others just to be accepted. She walked up to Domino's desk and stood in front of it, albeit at a fair distance. Ripley, her Purloin, hid behind her legs and stayed out of sight of the Charmeleon lest the beast got a twinkle in its eye.

"Compromised? No, not at all," Juri replied. "After the call I was chased by a black-haired girl and her Chimchar. They kept up with me for awhile before I managed to shake them off. The girl was... Off. She spoke like a robot."

"A robot you say?" For the first time ever since Juri met him, Domino sounded genuinely interested. He opened a pack of cigarette while the Charmeleon ran about chasing his own tail. He was about to smoke a cigarette when he thought through what Juri has said to him. "Black haired too... I think I know who that is."

Domino tossed the cigarette he was about to smoke back into the pack and grabbed a picture frame with the old Team Magma picture from a few years ago featuring almost all of the executives. There was Maxie in the center, with Tabitha and Courtney, Team Magma's old vice leaders, to his left. Domino, the newest executive at the time, was sitting on a boulder by the far end of the right. Most of the people in the picture wore some kind of Team Magma uniform, except for one woman, who looked about the same age as Maxie himself, who wore a lavender blouse, long yellow-green skirt, and a kind, warn smile. Staring at the picture for a while, Domino sighed and placed the picture back where he took it from. "Never mind. You won't get it even if I told you. You are dismissed, for now."

"Hi Treeko. I'm Sela and I'm going to be your trainer starting today." Sela said with a smile while kneeing down. Then Sela's little Eevee jumped down. "This is Eevee and she'll be with us too." Sela said introducing Eevee to Treeko. Eevee and Treeko shaked paws. "Now all I need is your Pokéball and a Hoenn dex and we can start hours journey." Sela said to Treeko.

Juri waited for some information on that black-haired girl like an impatient guest. Back at Devon Corp. she had been impressed by how the girl had dodged debris and chased her down, but now that the prospect of her being a robot was thrown into the picture, Juri's interest waned. Robots were skilled, but they lacked personality. A Pokemon ranger would have been a much better sight for a thrillseeker. When no information on the 'robot' came, Juri sighed and soured up. She didn't like it when people patronized her.

Even worse was coming to Domino for a debriefing and getting shafted. Juri approached his desk, placed her hands down and stared the man down.

"I did as you asked, now maybe you can help me out. I want to find Courtney."

"Courtney you say?" Domino chuckled at Juri's... eagerness, for the lack of a better word. The Charmeleon looked up from chasing his tails at the sound of Juri slamming the table. "Of course you want to find her. Everybody does. She along with Tabitha and Maxie are our enemiesof highest priorities, rivaled only by Team Aqua. But we haven't a clue of where she is. We've only managed to find where Maxie's been after a year of search."

"I suppose what you can do is interrogate Maxie himself." Domino spun his chair to face away from Juri. "But we have other things to worry about. Team Aqua is apparently mobilizing near Dewford Town, and we need some members there as well to make sure we have eyes on them. I will let you take your rest for today. You pulled a big job, attacking Devon Corporation, and I think you can have your well-deserved free time."

"How generous of you," Juri commented, miffed at Domino's nonchalant behavior. "Thank you. I'll be up at the summit if you or anyone else needs me."

With Domino looking away from her, Juri took the chance to examine the Charmeleon more closely, or at least as close as she could get without arousing its ire. Fire was a staple for Team Magma, and a Charmeleon was no exception. They were typically ornery creatures that snapped at anyone who challenged them. Ripley, the Purloin, did well to submit in its presence, but for Juri Han, she stared down the little fireball and sneered. When that fire lizard evolved, it would surely make a good addition to the team, but more than that, it would make for a worthy opponent.

That, however, presented a problem. Juri had no-one to challenge this opponent, let alone any other Pokemon who knew what they were doing. Ripley wasn't bulky and she didn't know many special moves. In a prolonged fight, she was guaranteed to lose. Juri couldn't have this. She looked down at her disgruntled partner and gestured to the door. They took their leave shortly after that.

"Come on. We're going to have ourselves a talk," Juri said in a hushed aside to her Pokemon.

"When you say a talk do you mean a talk or..." Ripley shuddered. "...a talk?"

"I mean a talk where we both have something to say and add to the mix. I'm not going to punt you into the lava. Far from it," Juri said in a reassuring voice.

The woman would then exit the HQ and try to make her way up to the summit of Mt. Chimney with her partner in tow.

"N... nice to meet you." The Treecko fidgeted shyly, but he otherwise looked happy enough to be under Sela's guidance. "H... hi, Eevee..."

"Well, now that that's settled, here's the Pokemon that Professor Juniper probably asked you to raise." Professor Birch's assistant said as she came out of the incubator second time, this time holding a grayish-green Pokemon with two dull tusks. The Pokemon was sleeping soundly, even with the busy chatters going on in the laboratory. "Here's the Axew she entrusted us to hold until you've arrived."

"Thank you." Glitch received the Pokemon, carefully embracing him to make sure she doesn't drop him lest he wake up. He was heavier than he looked. "But... what could be so special about this particular Axew?"

"I have no clue." Professor Birch answered that, holding what looked like a red scanner-like machine. "But the fact that she would entrust a dangerous Dragon-type Pokemon like him to you means that she puts a great deal of trust to you. Here's the Pokedex that she entrusted to us to give to you as well."

"I guess I'll receive the rest from her through Xtransceiver. Thank you, Professor." Glitch nodded.

"Well then, is there anything else I can help you guys with?" Professor Birch asked Sela and Andrew.

                        Oldale Town

Oldale Town was a sublime, tranquil town... okay let's be honest it was a dinky little village that barely had 1,000 residents in it. However, it was the only passage for people from Littleroot can go to Petalburg City, therefore it is booming with explorers and new trainers seeking training for their weaker Pokemon.

                          Mt. Chimney Summit

It was hot up there at the top of Mt. Chimney. That was an overstatement by many, but it was still very warm and somewhat unpleasant for those who couldn't stand the heat and lava. For those who could brave the ash, rocks, and threat of dying a fiery death, there were plenty of nice spots to sit and gaze out at the beauty of one of mother nature's tools of destruction. If that didn't strike the fancy of others, there was always the view of the rest of Hoenn from the mountain. Juri, however, was content to sit and look out over the mouth of the volcano as she contemplated.

Juri and her Purloin had managed to get up to the summit without difficulty and without arousing suspicion from any prying hikers. Just this once she didn't mind the lack of attention thrown her way. There weren't that many tourists up on the mountain, and other than that old woman who sold those lava cookies, it was a very secluded spot. The woman and Pokemon sat and spoke to one another on a one-to-one basis, sometimes arguing and sometimes sharing a few minutes of uncomfortable silence together.

Rustboro had divided the two, but Juri had managed to get back in Ripley's good graces enough to catch her ear.

"Will you ever tell me why you're doing this?" Ripley meowed, her tail twitching.

"Maybe. In time I might be able to give you some insight, but for the most part I'm just flying by the seat of my pants." Juri glanced over at her partner. "That means doing terrible stuff to others and playing the Team's games for the time being."

"I guess there's no avoiding work and what's expected of us. I just wish it could be simple stuff like stealing and other small-scale crimes." The Purloin laid down and nuzzled her paws in boredom. "I suppose I can't blame you for what you did... What we did. But can you promise me that we won't kill anymore innocent people?"

Juri remained silent for some time before shaking her head.

"You know I can't promise that," she said in a solemn tone before looking back out at the mouth of the volcano.

"I just need Treeko's Pokéball and a Hoenn Pokédex and that's it really." Sela said to Prof. Birch as she stands up. Suddenly, a news flashed happens on a nearby TV. "A sudden attack at the Devon Corporation in Rustburo City happened. Luckly, the new president was unharmed and the culprit still hasn't been found. More news to come later." An announcer said.

Andrew had continued to ignore the Birch, and Sela as he continued to look at his Pokeball, and what Pokemon will be in it. However Birch broke the silence the moment he spoke to them.

"Oh... Uh... I don't know I didn't hear a thing you said. Sorry. Just kind of excited to have my first Pokemon." Andrew replied as genuinely as possible while he continued to look at his Pokeball. "I wonder what Pokemon is in this..."

"Yes, professor." Professor Birch's assistant, Mel, nodded as the two went their ways, Professor Birch to find the box of Pokedex and Mel to grab an empty Pokeball to present to Sela.
