Well, they do have to kill a lot of enemies in as little time as possible, so they are probably the best choices.

I actually had a hard time deciding whether or not I should bring Metal Man along, but his blades could easily come back to bite him in the end.:p

I'd choose hard mode. Difficult, but not so fucking hard that it would make you want to pull you're hair out (in my opinion.)
