John may not be able to kill him, but he will show the Devourer that immortality can also be a curse.:p
All he needs to do is plant a "Holy Knife" into the Devourer's spine, preferably the base of the Devourer's skull, paralyzing or knocking him out until it's removed.

I think I might have another way.
The Devourer's own weapon.
It's a fallen angel's weapon, which means that it is of the same "tier" as him.
Here's a metaphor, to explain what I mean.
You can't cut Titanium with gold tools, but you can easily cut Titanium with with Titanium tools.
Now it's just a matter of getting the weapon away from him.
