Renamon waited for the claws to almost touch her as she ducked and used her feet to push the mantis torso and make it go forward with the momentum

The creature fell on the pressure pad as the fox ran to the lever still checking for any other trap or monster. She took the lever and prepared to pull it down as the block would crush the creature

A second passed. Two... three... but no stone to crush the monster.

"Why do you think I was sent to guard this particular place?" The monster grinned, its' jagged mouth ripping through its' face. With good observation, one could see that his weight is so small that even the pressure plate cannot detect it. It shot a blast of spikes rapidly towards Renamon, its' golden toxin visible even from far away.

When the group went through the door, the man followed behind once the light seemed to be swallowed by the abyssmal dark. "Alright then..." Started his way down the passage, the faint blue glow of his sword provided enough light for him to see. As he went he could here the echoing voices below. However, one voice rang in his ears.
"I smell something...tasty."
He almost stumbled. "No, it can't be...Hold on!!" Drawing his sword, the man began to run down the stairs, his footsteps echoing ahead of him.

Evading the toxin rounds Renamon grinned "Then I can do my job easier than I thought" she said running towards the mantis and grappled it with her body as they both fell on the pressure pad

This time the pad had enough weight thanks to the fox "Just to let you know that Im known for my stubborness so please lie down" she said as the block now went down and she kicked the creatureīs body in a leap towards the lever to pull it down

"Funny." The mantis grinned and immediately vanished into thin air. Before Renamon could realize that, the mantis was on top of a bookshelf, grunting and snorting as he began evolving.

Its' claws were now glowing purple and was larger than Renamon's legs. Its' spike racks enlarged and spouted paralysis toxin. It grew wings that allowed him even more mobility. He grew eyes out of empty sockets, and from that, his skin began turning from light red to brownish-color.

"I love enemies with BOLD taste." The mantis screeched and disappeared once again.

"Well then, I can say that something interesting was bound to happen" Renamon spoke with a faint smile. Her digivice started shinning as her energy surged around her body.

In a matter of seconds the fox evolved into Kyubimon. The nine-tailed beast instantly flared on purple colored flames appeared on each tail and went around the place

"So a predator is the first guard of this place, Im excited to see who is the next, come one status warrior, letīs have a duel" Kyubimon spoke as the flames became pillars of fire

The mantis seemed to appear behind Renamon with such stealth not even Renamon's heightened aware could detect her.

"Consume, and adapt!" The mantis screeched as he pushed his claws through Renamon's chest.

The vision ended. As the man ran entered the room, he saw the Mantis appear behind the fox.
"Consume, and ada-"

"MONADO SHIELD!"
the blue core of the blade glowed orange as a symbol appeared in the circular center.

In a quick swing, a wave of orange aura rushed towards the nine-tailed fox and formed a translucent hexagonal sphere. The claw ricocheted off the shield which then dissipated.

Kyubimon felt the hexagonal shield protecting her from the surely lethal attack of the mantis and took advantage of it

"A back stab is a good strategy, but letīs heat this battle until one stops" she growled biting the mantisī arm pulling the creature close to her as her flame pillars focused to them

All nine pillars of fire engulfed both beasts in purple fire, Kyubimonīs grin didnīt waver as she felt the flames around her and didnīt stop crushing the creatureīs arm

"So this is how the hellfire feels like." The mantis chuckled as he aimed his enlarged spike rack towards Renamon and fired. The spikes were not only larger and faster, but with more quantities. The toxin seemed the same: a non-lethal temporary paralyzing toxin that could slow one's movement down.

"Hellfire, flames of hell, whatever you call it. Never subestimate a small flash of heat" Kyubimon growled jumping backwards and doing her spiral dragon attack

The ninetailed fox started spinning as the flames engulfed her and a spiral of fire formed launching a fire dragon ready to burn the mantis in stronger flames

"Void Assa-" The monster tried to disappear again, but the flaming blue dragon engulfed him.

"Nice." Patchouli said from the distant to herself as she was watching the battle unfold. She wished she could've helped, but the obsidian pressure plate prevented her from doing so.

Seeing that the mantis disappeared from where it was, Kyubimon didnīt hesitate and pulled the lever down

She looked at the place where her target was and saw a pile of ash "Lookls like it faced too much to bear" she spoke going back to her normal form

The man relaxed a bit and the crackling energy of the transparent blue sword dissipated. "Glad I made it in time..." He said with a grateful smile.

"Indeed you made it, I could already feel those claws piercing my back" Renamon spoke taking care of her burns with a rawst berry, her fur had some black spots, but most of it was ok

Checking some pressure pads, the fox confirmed it was safe to cross "Everyone, the traps are down, you can cross
