Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

That's closer to the truth than you think. Also, I'm thinking of introducing a little story, which if completed, may help you in the fight against the Devourer.

Tricky will come...in time. But what I was thinking is introducing what is known as "The Invincibles." They are a group of extremely powerful creatures, and people from Borderlands 1 and 2. In the games, they are all considered Raid Bosses. They are not very reasonable, but if killed, give extremely powerful gear, weapons, shields, grenades, and if possibly reasoned with, or tamed, they can prove very powerful allies.
