      I feel so lucky. The Monado is a weapon that can alter everything that exist as far as I understand. As Nobodies don't exist I don't have to worry about all of this.

        Monado Purge seals "abilities" which, in Xenoblade, are called Arts.

        Battle Arts are attacks that do more damage that a regular attack. They can also heal an ally, and afflict buffs on their foes. All characters and enemies have Battle Arts.

        Each character has an unique Battle Art that has its own effects in battle. Some Arts cause status (buff and debuff) effects while others can heal. In a Chain Attack, all Arts except Talent Arts are usable no matter what the cooldown is at.

        Each character and enemy has a Talent Art. A Talent Art is the larger circle in the middle which is dull grey or white. Talent Arts are more powerful than a Battle Art, although they have certain conditions to full the gauge up (using attacks, using certain Arts etc).

        Types of enemy attacks:
        ◾Physical Attacks: These are attacks that make contact with an enemy. They are evadable by using Monado Speed.
        ◾Ether Attacks: Attacks that are created using ether (most of Melia, Sharla's and Riki's Arts are like this). They often include many status altering arts.
        ◾Talent Attacks: These attacks deal a lot more damage than a normal attack (and are the symbol in the middle of the Art Palette). They can be either ether, physical or both. They can be blocked by using Monado Shield.

        Tyes of character arts:
        1.Blue: These are healing, shielding or stat boosting arts. Although they do not afflict actual damage, they are still very useful if used correctly.
        2.Red: These are physical attacks. Some of these will have some blood or an arc in them. The blood represents a Bleed Debuff, while an arc shows that the attack has a wide range. The Debuff is an extra effect that happens when you use the attack. For example, Dunban's Gale Slash also inflicts Bleed Debuff.
        3.Purple: These are ether based attacks or offensive status effects.
        4.Yellow: Arts that inflict Daze. These arts tend to require an initially toppled enemy with the exception of Dunban 's Thunder which requires Dunban to have an aura active as its condition instead.
        5.Pink: Attacks that inflict Break status.
        6.Green: Arts that inflict Topple status. They tend to require an initially broken enemy with the exception of Melia's Starlight Kick which requires Spear Break as its condition, Riki's Roly Poly which inflicts Topple randomly, Dunban's Demon Slayer which inflicts Topple on nearby enemies when used as a finishing move, and Fiora's Final Cross which requires the highest tension phase to activate.
        7.Grey: A character's Talent Arts. These can provide various similar to other arts. Shulk's Monado arts for example can fill the general role of Blue, Red, Purple, and Green arts.
        8.Orange: Arts that grant auras to self which may or may not have effects on other allies or enemies.
        In other words: It levels the playing field

        Shulk himself is a decent swordsman, but his strength lies in his visions.
        The Monado helps bring things down to his level.

        Now on the terms of science VS Magic

        to set the record straight: Monado is Science.
        It's a tool calibrated to manipulate the very energy that is the basis of the universe.

          So let me see if a understand this. A art is what makes a person different from someone else. Take Xigbar for example. It would take his control over space away. He would still have eveything that is not specific for him.

            You kinda got the concept.
            It's those sorts of abilities.

            Yukari would loose Boundary Manipulation
            Link would loose magic abilities (like dins fire)
            John would loose magic and shields
            Kenway would loose eagle vision

            and the list can go on and on and on.

            Monado Purge...
            It's an equalizer.

                Huh? Oh no, in Xenoblade, each character has a set of Arts that can be equipped

                They only have one Talent Art

                There's 8 slots for Arts. Some characters have more than 8 so you can switch out arts.

                  Still Isn't it kind of unfair that the characters that are actually supposed to be strong actually get affected more from it than. There is also the fact that it hit some characters way too hard. Take the character Demyx (not in the RP) for example. When fighting the data battle he can be pretty hard as he have two things that defines him. He can summon water and make it dance. You have to defeat the water to attack him (if he doesn't summon more water) and he attacks based with water. If you remove those he is pretty much worthless (there is a reason that he is playing his sitar 80% of the battle). In this case it would do so much more than just equalize. It would completely destroy any chance of victory. I really think that there needs to be some wayt the we can actually resolve these things.

                    So let's try and apply that to AtWaG.

                    Ima start off with the Touhous.

                    It is a given fact that all of them merge their ability in combat. (Source: http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Combat_Merging)

                    If Monado Purge is used, then the ability sealing seals their physical combat as well, which turns EVERY SINGLE characters into what they look like: harmless little girls.

                    A land full of harmless but absolutely stunning girls that can't protect themselves because their ability and their physical powers are permanently sealed?

                    Sounds like a paradise for serial rapists -.-

                    And as someone who likes the 2hus.as strong and independent...


                    I might find a way to balance out Monado Purge (I'm ok with most other ability) without taking away too much.

                      Permanent? Pfffft

                      It only lasts a minute.

                      Monado abilities have a duration.

                      For the 8th time

                      Shield, speed, and armour last 20 seconds
                      Purge, 60 seconds
                      Eater, 45seconds

                      And this is nerfed slightly by a few seconds.

                            45 seconds approx, dependant on if Shulk can hit the opponent with a few swings and lvl of talent guage.
                            Or he sacrifices 25% of hp for 50% of talent guage.

                            Purge uses 100% of talent guage.

                                Its not always 45 seconds

                                Sometimes it takes minutes.

                                If you payed attention during Lucco battle, I used Battle soul twice. I dropped Shulk's health down 50%
                                But I used Light heal once, 15% heal

                                If I didn't, shulk wouldn't have blocked or dodged some things.
