Because my head is doing strange things I'm going to subcategorize the capabilities of ships:
Ok I'm going to use the really simplistic date system I developed for the story for references here.
Assume the story takes place in the year MDe12-MMXII (If you really want to translate this to something a bit less random, take the first roman numeral and assume e12 =10^12. Then add the last roman numeral =w= crazy Ik...
Ships of MDe12-MMXI
- use standard wiring and other electronic systems. This makes them susceptible to virtually anything of the electromagnetic spectrum as their systems convert crystal energy to electrical.
- Most ships of this time are adopting the new systems below.
Ships of MDe12-MMXII: (For the main three factions with access to Vatian labs, which are heavily guarded.)
- use crystal conduits, which use raw Aura energy in the systems using limiters to dampen it accordingly. Aura energy can only be manipulated slightly by outside sources. In short, a direct physical bullet that hits a key system is the only way to knock out Aura systems.
- have modular systems in such that a damaged/compromised system can be isolated from the rest. However if other systems depend on it, then those systems would be knocked out as well. Typically, control systems are isolated from other systems and are located in the center of any ship, including fighters.
- Utilize Aura Sensors and Controls, an experimental system which uses crystal energy as input. Sensors can detect Crystal energy readings in a visual scope. Deemed impractical as planets and space dust contains traces of these readings, however, filters can be applied if visual lock is acquired. Controls are also deemed impractical as some beings (humans primarily) can not manipulate aura energy by touch.
-Shield units, a special system for nearly anything. Typically use high amounts of crystal energy. Fighters have weaker adaptations of these systems. Shields are the end all system, allowing for anything to be deflected. However, they do have an endurance as set by limiters.
- - Typical endurance of shield systems can be illustrated by these percentages. Assume shields regenerate at 0.5% per minute.
------------------------------------------------------
- In addition, use these numbers for indexes of shield potency.Fighters: 1------------------
Ships larger than fighters, but smaller than Zeta Class Carriers: 2
Zeta Class to ships smaller than Omega Class: 5
Omega to Gamma class: 10
Beta: 20
Alpha: 35
- Physical impact. Shields decrease by [(Force in newtons)*(0.5)]/[100*(Shield Index)] = percent drop.
- Allows for shields to take physical trauma of an impact, however if the fighter were to ram into something solid (ex. mountain), then structural damage will occur regardless, however will be lessened by shields
- Energy blasts. Assume the following categories of "energy blasts" and use an index number for each.- Light rapid (ex. assault rifles) Index: 1
- Light charged (ex cannons that can be carried by soldiers.) Index 1.5
- Heavy Rapid (Ex. Think Large machine guns, large enough to not be moved by normal means and typically used on vehicles) Index 2
- Heavy Charged (Ex Equivalent of Tank shells and AAA) Index 3
- Cruiser Rapid (Massive guns equipped on cruisers only.) Index 4
- Cruiser Heavy (Massive cannons equipped on cruisers only, capable of slow repeated fire) Index 5
- Cruiser Charged (Massive long charge time cannons equipped on cruisers only) Index 7
- Shields drop as such: {[(Index of blast)^2]*2}/[(Shield Index)]= percent drop
@ Book
I kinda want to collaborate and balance out a system of weaponry that is limited to a degree that makes such electronic warfare incredibly difficult to use in combat, since we're kinda trying to work it out.
Anyway this is the base line I had in mind:
Weapons that directly damage systems:
- Sparrows, rockets 2x the size of your hand. has an energy drill which is potent enough to drill through most materials. Can be blocked by shields (use energy blast formula and assume index of blast of 2)
- Unshielded energy blasts
- Unshielded projectiles
Feel free to add anything to this list you think would be useful to add.
----------------------------
@ everyone that actually does the math for energy blasts
Yes, Alpha class is supposed to have that number. The reason why they are feared.
----------------------------
@ Everyone
This is actually a modified version of the numbers I was toying with if I were to make this into a video game (just completely arbitrary things I do....)
The reason I'm putting this here now is cause...
I kinda want to have a definitive system for combat so as to prevent the "Surprise muthafaka, I actually had this and this is capable of doing (insert obscene power here.)" A set rules of combat for the ships and such as to keep it tame to a degree.
In other words, hate me cause I'm going back on my word of "Anything rolls ok here cause big galaxy and all."
But I just don't want to have my head hurt when I read something and go "Oh gawd what? I don't even..."
...Cause it's that "1 up your thing" syndrome (even if we try to ever be modest about it, we're all susceptible to it.)
This way, when it comes to space dog fights and such, there's a mathematical formula for it. Rather than being "At your discretion" or even mine for that matter.
I'm open for debating out things to balance it accordingly so that way things can have a nice definitive system.
Again, no particular reason, I just want to have some rules for this set up for now to prevent future things cause I got that gut feeling seeing how things are playing out with like Book and me, which honestly was my bad for not defining the systems earlier. and again my bad for saying anything can go with that...
Once part III hits, these will be thrown out the door cause I'm really hating myself for not having the foresight to predict this. Gods I'm a fool on that.
And again, reiterating: Debate with me on these things so as to balance it out properly so we can all agree on some system that compromises with everyone.
EDIT: updated OP
EDIT 2: Second thought...don't bother with this whole post too much...I might just scrap it.Last edited by Cucoo5; 10-04-2013, 10:07 PM.

And I just realized that I jumped a scene with Nero and Mima...
@ Mima
If you want I'll let ya do a sort of flashback to tie in what happened before the Chapter 1 endgame.
EDIT:
Ok summary time for chapter one...
Feel free to correct me if I derp up something.
CHAPTER 1 | The Guardians of Helios
- Aion, Joe, and Terrisa meet Kiara at the Hunters' Guild, who has a message for Aion to join the Delta Division. Aion accepts, but brings the entire Guild with him. Any personnel that were not Maverick pilots get onto Transport Delta 8. Aion leads the formation of the Hunter escort.
- Suddenly, Joe warns that a possible skirmish is between them and the rendezvous point. Aion takes charge and organizes the Hunters for the charge. When the break through the clouds, they see the massive battle ahead. A Delta Division Beta Cruiser was being taken down by NGO forces. Aion then charges ahead leading the Hunters to clear a path for the transport. As they do this, Nero, who somehow took control of Transport Delta 9, charges through the battle to reach the Hunters. They eventually reach the nearest Zeta Carrier and flee the battle to the Delta Division Flagship, Excalibur. Then the Hunters mourn for the loss of one of their own, with Aion saying in the end:
"He died a true Guardian of Helios."
----------------------------------
Fractis Animus
-Mima awakens on the Isle of Spirits on Dua. A mysterious man named Cicero helps the ghost, who has ultimately lost her memories. He guides her to the Tower of Aquarion and tells her to find Nero.
Nero and a soldier find Mima on Duon, after she transported to it through the Tower. Nero then brings Mima along to the Transport Delta 9, where they then head out to Delta Division's Flagship.
Black Wind
-Nhiome had just raided a transport in Nexion system and flees the pursuing squad from the Alpha Division. He escapes to Sol Incineron, where the Black Roses, led by Ember, follow him. They catch up to him at Planet Werban, and attempt to convince him to join them. He declines and fires off a jamming device. Spear attacks Nhiome as he can't get in contact with Ember. Then, Ember stops him and they begin to follow Nhiome out of the atmosphere. Ember then tells the rest of her squadron to distract the Alpha Division pursuers while she follows Nhiome to his base on a moon of Inopia.
Wandering Machina
-Mara finds Eleos and decides to help him search for survivors. They then find a little girl named Anankerisa. Eleos tells Mara to take the girl to Celestora system, where it would be safer for her. Mara obliges and takes her to a freighter. Mara then leaves to go back to find Eleos again, however a sudden explosion at the freighter causes her to turn back and find the little girl. She finds Anankerisa on the freighter as it begins to travel to Celestora after a series of unfortunate events. Anankerisa then disappears and tells Mara to play her game of fate. After this, an NGO Beta Class Cruiser intercepts and captures the freighter with Mara on board.
Torta Manu Iustitiæ
- The Reaper attacks an NGO base on the edge of Celestora on the Planet Mortem. He works his way through and deals "justice" upon the commanding officer of the base.

I'll get to a flashback later. Also, now I need to think of a sub-name for The Reaper's story.
Maybe Torta Manu Iustitiæ
Or, in English, Twisted hand of Justice
Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.

Because Latin sounds cool.

@cucoo
In terms of electronic warfare, when I said he developed his own methods, I was mainly thinking of 3. The first is just a projectile that is similar to the gas one, except it releases an extremely powerful electromagnetic pulse once inside the ship and through the shields. The second is one that somehow homed in on the key systems, which you just helped me finish XD (aura sensors). The third is a last resort, the argus effect, which is caused by the huge amount of electrons released upon explosion, the explosion of a nuclear bomb, I doubt I will incorporate the last one though, but I am thinking of something similar...How many times can you die a day~?
How many times have you died a day~?

And using the concept of shields, use the formula I set up and classify how the other three would work accordingly. That way you would have to maneuver a bit to even use it. And it would explain how his guns work and keeps everything sorta the same, while putting something a bit more solid. I actually put the formulas to use and I think it should be fine for all situations, but kinda want input on that.

A fighter can vary slightly in terms of shielding to help boost other things or increase defense altogether (since shields are the initial end all defense and can protect a fighter from anything until disabled by heavy fire.) but just assume the arsenal is Heavy. That way it's an even playing field for fighters.
Speaking of which...
@ book
You considering giving Kazikami shields?

Edit: but, yes it will have shields, more powerful shields than the fighter's.Last edited by bookdragon2000; 10-05-2013, 01:38 AM.How many times can you die a day~?

@ book
Right, Your ships classify under the category that's larger than a fighter anyway.
(So glad the index is proving to be useful rather than a hindrance.)
@ S121
Haha feel free to.
Anything particular in mind for what ya might do?
And of course, feel free to ask if ya might want something not listed in the OOC. I'll work through it and see how it would work out (and nearly anything can be explained somehow so hit me with yer best shot)
