when lava gets in contact with air and water, it starts to cool down to the point of becoming a solid rock (more from the latter element)

If there's enough water, yea...not enough and lava could just vaporize it. Look into like...the rift of the Atlantic Ocean.

Man, John should have fought him. Lava is nothing to his armor. It would have eliminated Dominus's greatest asset.
