Even after knowing Patchouli for four months, John was still in awe by her ability to tune everything out. Perhaps it was because she immersed herself further into a story than most people could, like a dream, or maybe it was because she didn't feel like answering John's question. John didn't really mind if she was ignoring him. Besides, he had more important things to do, like tell Yuuka the news. John simply waved at Patchouli , then disappeared through a Corridor of Darkness.

Garden of the Sun - Gensokyo
The first thing John could notice is jets of poison carrying around large chunks of netallic debris from the war four months ago. Amongst the poison that was cleaning the garden at a slow but steady pace was Medicine.
Medicine was an interesting child. She detested socialization, spent her days playing in the poisonous Nameless Hill. She looked doll-like, with pale skin, blonde hair and red eyes.

John was a little surprised that there was still debris from the war left over. If he knew that there were still bits of metal still lying around, he would have helped clear it. He helped clear the Human Village, and many other locations of debris, but he was never told that this place suffered damage too. John noticed the small jets of poison moving the debris and immediately knew who it was. John looked on his radar and saw a small blue dot on his radar, so he decided to go ask Medicine about the garden's current condition.
"Hello Medicine. What happened here? I thought all the debris were cleared from Gensokyo.", John said to Medicine.

Sometimes when you're driving down a road, a bug hits your windshield. It's ugly and unpleasant, but you just activate the wipers / cleaning fluid and it's gone in a few seconds. It's just part of driving down the road. You don't dwell on it, because that'd be silly. Bugs aren't worth the time.
You just discard their guts and keep on driving.
